Chapter 296 Just Beginning

Sharon's face showed no ripples. She said, "So, what does it mean to have class?"

"Ally looks high-minded, pretending to be kind when she sees someone and is well-behaved and obedient on the surface, but behind the scenes, she is thinking about how to deal with Luann. Is she quality and educated?"

The retort took Alan aback. He looked at Sharon with some astonishment, saying, "What do you mean by that?"

Sharon replied calmly, "In contrast, a prominent family like the North family should have raised the best daughters, but Ally's heart is already rotten."

"And Holly, although seemingly carefree and outspoken."

"But it's precisely people like her who are straightforward, pure, and clean."

"Today, although Holly was a bit irritable and didn't hesitate to hit someone."

"Those who deserve it deserve it."

"You also heard what Mr. Weaver said. Is that something a father says to his daughter?"

"What does it mean to wish Luann wasn't born into this world truly? Can a father say that to his daughter?"

"Luann is his daughter. If she acts out, that's disrespectful to her parents. Letting Holly handle it is both relieving and satisfying. It's quite good."

Alan was left stunned by Sharon's remarks. It took him a while to react, gesturing with his hand to pause.

Alan said, "Wait, from what you're saying, do you think Holly did the right thing?"

Sharon stared at him earnestly and said, "I don't believe that a person who can remain calm and composed when a friend is being bullied is cultured."

"Similarly, I don't think a person who can take off their shoes and hit someone in public is uncultured."

Alan was dumbfounded. He said, "Are you speaking in riddles?"

Sharon shook her head and said, "No, I just want to say that if Eddy truly likes Holly and wants to marry her, I would wholeheartedly approve."

Alan felt embarrassed. He asked, "Am I the only one against it?"

"What's the big deal!"

Luann leaned against the edge of the bed, reading a book.

Bowing her head, loose strands of hair framed her temples, her updo adding softness to her look. Her slim fingers flicked a page, the sound crisp.
However, most of Luann's attention was focused on Myron, who was busy.

Myron paced around the room, sometimes plucking flower petals and scattering them on the floor, sometimes lighting a scented candle by the bed, and finally dimming the lights.

"Don't you see I'm reading?" Luann interrupted Myron's rhythm,  "How can I read with the light so dim?"

Myron felt wronged immediately. He leaned in, kneeling by the bed, leaning forward, cleverly blocking the pages, saying, "I'm here, and you're not looking at me, but reading a book?"

"What's so interesting about the book?"

Myron casually tossed the book to the ground with his slender fingers.

Luann couldn't help but feel a bit anxious. But before she could get up, Myron grabbed her shoulder and pressed her onto the bed.

However, he didn't make any further moves but mischievously shifted most of his weight onto her.

Luann parted her lips slightly, feeling short of breath, asking, "Do you know how much you weigh?"

Myron's face approached, lightly rubbing against Luann's neck and shoulders. He seemed like a pitiful little creature. He said, "Honey, don't be unhappy."

"I want you to be happy."

After a moment of silence, Luann softly said, "I'm not unhappy."

"But since you came back, you haven't smiled once." Myron sat up, pinching her face.

"I'm worried that I've affected you." Luann's voice was muffled, "If it weren't for me, you probably wouldn't have been exposed so early."

Myron's expression grew serious. He explained, "Don't think about me like that."

"You're my top priority."

"My only goal from start to finish is for you to be happy every day without worrying about all the mess."

A warm feeling surged in Luann's heart, and she nodded gratefully, saying, "Thank you, honey."

Upon hearing this, Myron's eyes darkened. He leaned down and kissed her slowly.

The heavy curtains blocked out all the light outside.

A gentle breeze occasionally lifted a corner of the curtain, revealing a faint light.

A figure sat trembling in the corner.

The phone displayed a low battery signal.

Juliet frantically pulled her hair, her tear-streaked face already dried up, mixed with various makeup traces.

The phone suddenly lit up.

The piercing music broke the silence.

Juliet answered abruptly, sounding flustered, "Ally, how are you?"

On the other line, Ally's voice was weak, coughing laboriously for a while before speaking. "I... I feel... terrible."

"Ally, I'm sorry, it's all my fault." Juliet cried out in pain, with low sobs accompanied by almost breathless gasps, which was heart-wrenching.

Ally became anxious and said, "No... don't say... say that..."

"This was our... plan... together... Are you... are you okay..."

In the last moment, before losing consciousness, she was most afraid that Myron would harm Juliet.

Even with her noble status, Myron showed no mercy, let alone Juliet, who posed no threat.

Juliet was about to say she was fine, but her words changed at the last moment. "I'm not okay at all. My photos are being circulated all over the internet, and I've received a lot of hateful messages overnight. I feel like I can't hold on mentally anymore."

"Ally, I really want to die. If I do, everything will be over."

Ally coughed abruptly and said, "Don't... don't say such... such foolish things."

"Wait for me... wait for me to recover... I'll come... come find you."

"As long as you don't blame me," Juliet said softly.

The call was disconnected.

Presumably, Ally had just woken up and didn't have the energy to continue.

Juliet got up with sobs, finally relieved of the heavy burden that had been weighing on her all night.

She thought, 'I'm still so foolish.'

Juliet suddenly pulled open the curtains, and the glaring sunlight streamed in.

She squinted, raised her head, and bathed herself in the warm and comfortable light, thinking, 'No matter how dark the night, the day will still dawn.'

'As long as Ally trusts me and doesn't blame me, there's still a chance to turn things around.'

'So what if I lost once?'

'I don't lose every time.'

A smile played at the corner of Juliet's lips, contrasting with her pale makeup, giving her a chilling appearance.

"A new day has just begun," she said.
