Chapter 231 Returning the Favor

Hearing Holly Weiss say this, the waiter breathed a sigh of relief. So Luann Weaver had already finished her drink. He was reassured.

"Sure, miss, please wait here," the waiter said and turned to leave.

Eddy approached, his hand landing intimately on Holly Weiss's shoulder, trying to pull her into his embrace. Holly Weiss clicked her tongue and forcefully brushed off his intrusive hand.

"What's up?"

"Somebody was quite bold just now, dealing with Juliet Weaver at the victory party," he said. "Aren't you afraid of upsetting Miss Curtis?"

Holly Weiss's face showed she didn't care. "In my heart, Luann is the most important. If someone bullies her, no matter where we are, I will protect her."

The look in Eddy's peach blossom eyes dimmed slightly, revealing a hint of jealousy. "What about me? What's my place in your heart?"

Holly Weiss glanced at him sideways. "You? You're still a bit behind Holden."

Eddy was rendered speechless and felt even more dejected. "Then why are you so protective of Luann Weaver? Are you two that close?"

Holly Weiss nodded without hesitation.

"Holly appreciated me just as much because she also gave up a lot for me," Eddy said, his thin lips curving slightly as he lowered his voice. "Are you referring to the orphanage?"

Holly Weiss’s gaze grew serious. "If you know, why do you ask?" Her file was virtually tied to Luann Weaver's. Anything Eddy could find on Luann, he could certainly find on her. "Back then, she was the only girl who was willing to play with me," Holly continued. "And the only one who reached out to me." "The person who gave me a home."

On that day when the skies cleared after the rain, Luann Weaver burst into her bleak world, casting a warm ray of sunshine. That girl, who appeared so solemn and rarely smiled, offered her endless tolerance and love. Over the years, she healed Holly's heart bit by bit.

Holly knew that without Luann Weaver, she wouldn't have received kindness from Adolph, attention from Rylson, or been kept around by the family patriarch despite his disapproval. So, for Holly, anywhere with Luann was home, and her heart belonged only to her.

Watching Holly's earnest and grave eyes, Eddy felt a deep surge of compassion. The first time he saw all the documents about her, he had sat on the couch for over an hour, stunned. They detailed how Holly was bullied in the orphanage, trampled upon, isolated by all the other children. Orphaned and alone.

The orphanage director discovered her in a trash can, actually inside it. When found, Holly was searching for edible food in a low dumpster alongside a stray dog, trying to keep warm. Despite her small size, she shivered, huddling with the dog. Her eyes were pure and innocent. It was at that moment Eddy understood how much warmth and love the now strong and lively Holly Weiss needed.

He wanted to protect her. Wanted to be by her side.

"Pssh, why am I telling you all this?" Holly Weiss rolled her eyes and poked at his white shirt, "You come here and don't even know to wear a suit?"

Eddy snapped back to reality. He remembered the pink suit that Myron Curtis had personally ruined, his lips twitching slightly. "Ahem, I do what I please."

The waiter quickly returned, holding a glass of Sunset Serenade, identical in appearance but without any unnecessary 'extras.' Holly Weiss drained it in one gulp, smiling and saying thank you to him. The waiter nodded politely and left.

Holly Weiss was about to follow when a forceful hand on her shoulder held her back.

"He knows you; if you approach him rashly, you might spook him," a voice warned.

"Don't worry, I have someone on his tail," Holly reassured.

The waiter, glancing back every few steps to ensure no one was paying attention to him, made his way to the back door and slipped out onto the quiet cobblestone path. Dense shrubs lined the route, their light fragrance lingering in the air.

After an indeterminate walk, the waiter saw a woman standing by the fountain. He hurried to her and quickly reported, "Miss Luann Weaver has also had the drink."

Grace hummed lazily in response, "Then proceed as planned. Gather them into one room."

"Yes!"

The corners of Grace's mouth curled into a smug smile. Her tone was sinister.

"Luann Weaver, I'm eager to see just how pathetic you'll be today."

"I'll make you lose your dignity in front of everyone, strip you of your pretentious elegance, and have you expelled from the Curtis family in public!"

"You'll like this 'green hat,' won't you, Myron Curtis?"

"Soon, you'll be disgusted and cast aside!"

"Had a fling with Wilber Gilbert, didn't you? Let's relive those moments today."

"And don't forget to thank me..."

Just imagining the scene made Grace feel her blood boiling with excitement.

She was determined to crush Luann Weaver to ensure she never recovered.

To make her the scorned woman talked about with disgust by everyone.

In the concealment of the shrubs, the slightest movement went unnoticed.

The hidden observer departed to report back.

Holly Weiss, upon learning of this, was furious. "This Grace, how scheming can she be! What on earth is she planning?"

Leaning against the wall relaxedly, Eddy asked, "So what do you intend to do?"

"Fight fire with fire, of course."

A cold voice echoed from beside him.

"Whoever sent me this gift, I'll simply return it. Otherwise, wouldn't it be a waste just to throw it away?"

Eddy looked sideways to see Luann Weaver approaching. She was holding a glass of wine, which she handed to Eddy.

"Help me out?"

Eddy raised an eyebrow. "Are you trying to drag me into this?"

"I thought you were already involved."

Luann glanced at Holly Weiss.

"We're all family here. Asking a friend's boyfriend for a little favor shouldn't be a big deal, right?"

With a helpless shake of his head, Eddy replied, "Alright, for my girlfriend's sake, I'll reluctantly agree."

Eddy took the glass, noticing it slightly off-color. He knew Luann Weaver must have mixed rouge wine with other liquors.

After he left, Holly Weiss looked around cautiously.

"Where's your man?"

"Grace must have lured away Myron Curtis with some excuse. Maybe he's chatting with Grandpa," said Luann Weaver nonchalantly.

Grace needed to get rid of the people around Luann Weaver if she wanted to make a move.

While standing there, a hurried waiter approached.

He said to Luann Weaver, "Mrs. Myron, Mr. Myron just got sick from drinking too much. He's been taken to a room on the third floor to rest. Would you like to go see him?"

Luann Weaver's face immediately tightened with concern, "Drank too much? Is he alright? He has a really low tolerance and gets drunk easily."

Holly Weiss watched Luann Weaver's convincing act and suppressed a smirk.

"You should go see him yourself, Mrs. Myron. He's been calling your name," urged the waiter.

"Alright, alright, let's go!"

"I'll show you the way."
