Chapter 351 It's a Stumbling Block

When Wilber found out, he was livid.

He even stopped Juliet from going to the film set.

"You're pregnant, and it's the first three months, the riskiest time. How can you join the crew and shoot a movie? Even if you have to pay the penalty, I'll cover it!"

Juliet turned away, rolling her eyes.

Wilber got anxious. "Honey, let's talk this through."

Juliet felt awkward. "Wilber, we're not married yet. Don't call me that affectionately. Besides, the penalty is huge. Even if we mortgage the entire Gilbert Family, we can't afford it."

Wilber asked nervously "How much?"

"Three..."

"Three million dollars? I can manage that."

"No, it's three..."

"Three hundred million dollars?"

Wilber frowned, thinking, 'Fine, think of it as spending three hundred million dollars to buy a child and a wife!'

"I'll ask my parents for help. Maybe..."

Juliet interrupted, "It's thirty billion."

Wilber went silent.

About ten minutes passed.

It was so long enough that Juliet thought he had fallen asleep.

Then she heard Wilber say, "How about you ask the director for leave, tell him you're pregnant, and go back to filming after you have the baby?"

Juliet was amused by Wilber's naive idea.

"Do you think this is a regular job? Even if it were, if I took seven months off, someone else would take my place. Besides, a big production crew can't delay the shooting for just one person.

Also, my contract with Dawn Talent Agency says I can't have any scandals with anyone other than company-arranged artists. If my pregnancy gets exposed, I can't continue in the entertainment industry. And I can't afford such a huge penalty."

The more Wilber listened, the more annoyed he got.

He spoke, his tone carrying impatience.

"Why did you join the entertainment industry in the first place? Don't you know how chaotic it is? I've heard people even sleep with big bosses to get roles! Now look, you're stuck! If anything happens to my child, what am I supposed to do?"

Juliet bit her lip, feeling wronged.

"Why are you yelling at me? I don’t want this, either. You abandoned me to pursue Luann back then. And now you're blaming me."

Wilber felt sick at the mention of Luann.

If it weren't for Luann, he wouldn't have been ruined by Grace.

And he wouldn't be childless for the rest of his life.

"Alright, stop crying. We're discussing this, aren't we?"

They weren't married yet, not officially registered.

Wilber didn't dare push Juliet too far, fearing she might leave in anger.

After all, the child in her belly was the last descendant of the Gilbert Family.

"Your role probably involves falling or something. We need to prepare safety measures."

Juliet didn't think so.

If the child is lost, so be it.

There would be more in the future.

But she said, "Okay."

On the day of joining the crew, Wilber wrapped some soft shockproof measures around Juliet's waist, butt, and belly.

After doing all this, he finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"All set."

Juliet nodded.

"Thanks. I'm off then."

"I'll take you."

At the set, Juliet tried to get to know everyone, but few paid her any attention. Even the director, Adam King, didn't give her any instructions.

Soon, it was time for Juliet's scene. Since scenes weren't shot in order, her first scene involved being restrained by a villain in a car, driven to the countryside.

Adam finally spoke to Juliet but didn't look her in the eye. "The climax of this scene is when you open the car door halfway and jump out."

Juliet was stunned. "Adam, is there a stunt double?"

Adam's eyes immediately changed. "Do you know what you're saying? In my films, I never use stunt doubles. If a stunt double can do it, why would I need you? I could just let the stunt double shoot your scenes!"

Four consecutive rebuttals left Juliet speechless. "But I'm not feeling well," she hesitated.

The director asked, "Period?"

"Yes."

Adam asked unceremoniously, "Is painkiller for the brain?"

Juliet was stunned. "Huh?"

"Otherwise, why would you ask such a stupid question?"

Juliet fell silent, feeling very aggrieved.

Just then, an assistant came over. "Adam, our artist is not feeling well today. Can we postpone the afternoon scene?"

Adam suddenly changed, smiling gently, "No problem. I'm a perfectionist. If you're not feeling well, don't push yourself. We can reshoot in a couple of days. When the artist is in good condition, they can perform their best."

Juliet was dumbfounded, thinking, 'This is double standards! Just because I'm not famous, they look down on me and treat me badly!'

While Juliet was complaining secretly, Adam shot a cold glance at her. "What are you waiting for? Change into your costume and get up there!"

"Okay."

Juliet quickly got dressed, with ropes tied around her body and a cloth stuffed in her mouth. The car started moving, not too fast, but not slow either. Juliet stuck her head out several times but didn't dare to jump.

Adam shouted through a megaphone, "Juliet, do you have nails on your feet or hemorrhoids on your butt? Can't move?"

Juliet trembled. "Adam, I... I'm scared."

"Scared of what? Don't waste time!"

Juliet gritted her teeth, her forehead sweating from nervousness. It wasn't because she was afraid the baby would be lost, but if she really fell and miscarried, it would hurt a lot, right? With so many people around, it would definitely be exposed.

"If you don't jump, I'll have the person behind you push you!"

As soon as Adam finished speaking, Juliet bent over and jumped out at the slowest moment of the car. Fortunately, her feet landed first, absorbing a lot of the impact, so she didn't really fall.

Adam looked at her meaningfully through the camera and said indifferently, "Passed, next scene, change."

Juliet got up from the ground, letting out a long sigh of relief. But at the same time, she felt that the baby in her belly was always a burden, a stumbling block on her path forward. Since she had decided to shoot this movie well, there was definitely a chance to become famous. Having kids at this time would miss the best period for her career. It would be better if she could get rid of the baby. It seemed she had to find a time to plan this out carefully.
