Chapter 412 No One Believed Him

Juliet tossed her phone onto the table, and it made a sharp, piercing sound.

"Juliet, say something! Juliet!" Mike's voice was frantic. He felt like bugs were crawling all over him, a chill spreading through his body, threatening to freeze his blood. "I get it. You want to get rid of all future problems, right? So you confirmed the news of my serious illness to make Luann hate me, didn't you? But don't forget, I'm not someone to mess with!"

"All the money went into your pocket. I didn't spend a dime, and I'm stuck in the hospital every day. Why do you get to live freely? Juliet, I'm warning you! Come get me within an hour, or I'll call Wilber and tell him everything. Do you think he'll still want you when he finds out what a schemer you are?" He added.

Juliet could picture Mike's face twisted with anger, his teeth gnashing as he spoke. She couldn't help but laugh. Her laughter grew louder and more mocking.

Mike's hands felt cold, and his body wouldn't stop shaking. He thought, 'Why is she laughing? Shouldn't she be scared and begging me not to tell?'

Juliet laughed until tears streamed down her face. She gently wiped them away, her voice soft. "Dad, if you want to call, then go ahead."

She hung up the phone.

"Juliet, what do you mean? Are you trying to control Wilber's phone? I'm telling you, it's impossible! Dream on! I'll find a way to contact him." Mike raged, but the phone had already gone to a busy tone.

Mike slammed the phone down, intending to call Wilber. But then he realized he didn't know Wilber's number. "Screw it, I'm going to his house."

He pushed himself off the chair, falling uncontrollably from the wheelchair.

The security guard, who had been watching from a distance, jogged over. "Are you okay?"

"I need to leave here." Mike grabbed his collar, looking at him pleadingly. "Please, give me some money."

The security guard frowned. "But your health isn't good enough to leave the hospital. How about this, let your family come and pick you up."

"They won't come, not a single one of them. I'll be back soon. Please." Mike had never been so humble, every word trembling.

The security guard reluctantly nodded. "Alright, tell me your room number. If you're not back by 8 PM, I'll contact your family."

He took out ten dollars from his pocket. "Is this enough?"

"Yes." With the security guard's help, Mike got into a taxi.

Now he was broke, without even a phone. He needed to find someone on his side, at least for now.

The trip to the Gilbert Villa was smooth, and finding Wilber was even smoother.

Wilber looked at Mike, who rolled up in a wheelchair. He frowned. "Dad, how did you get out of the hospital? Weren't you supposed to be getting treatment?"

Mike grabbed Wilber's hand with a death grip, his nails digging into his flesh. His eyes were wide and bloodshot, his skin dry like tree bark. His voice was hoarse. "Wilber, listen to me, I'm not sick at all. The cancer is fake. Juliet and I teamed up to scam you for money. Do you get it? Juliet got a lot of money from you, so she doesn't care about me anymore. You need to divorce her now."

Wilber looked troubled. "Dad, I know the treatment is tough, and some people develop psychological issues because of it, but what you're saying is just impossible. I don't know how you found me, but you should go back quickly. If something really happens, I can't take responsibility."

Mike was on the verge of tears. "Why don't you believe me? I'm telling the truth. I'm really not sick! Juliet is the real liar. All the ideas were hers. She wants your money."

Wilber sighed deeply. "You really are delusional. Alright, I'll take you back."

"Wilber!" Mike started coughing violently, his stomach churning. "Can't you believe me just once?"

Wilber said, "The problem is, what you're saying is completely unbelievable. Those test results can't lie, can they?"

"It's all fake! We bribed the doctors to use other patients' results and said they were mine!" Mike's body was already out of control, his hands waving frantically, trying to prove the truth. "At first, we wanted to scam money from Luann. But she didn't give me any. Then Juliet targeted you, thinking you were easier to deceive. The money you gave Juliet wasn't used for my treatment at all; the nurses at the hospital only gave me glucose! If I were really sick, would she go to such lengths?"

Wilber looked at him expressionlessly. The look in his eyes clearly showed that he thought, 'This guy is really crazy.'

He rubbed his temples in frustration. Both ears were buzzing from Mike's shouting. "Alright, you're right, okay? Let's talk about this tomorrow. Can you go back to the hospital first?"

It was obvious that Wilber just wanted to get rid of him. Mike's eyes widened, his nose emitting heavy breaths. Then, he pushed himself off the wheelchair.

With a thud, he fell in front of Wilber, tears streaming down his face. "Don't send me back. If you don't believe me, we can go to another hospital for a check-up."
