Chapter 278 Decision to Go

Holly nodded in agreement.
"Exactly!" she exclaimed. "It seems that I have had to work hard lately. How can they get together so easily without my help?"
Luann interjected, "Be careful; once Eddy finds out, he will deal with you."
Holly snorted, "Even if he had the chance, he wouldn't dare touch me! Besides, who's to say I wouldn't be the one dealing with him!"
Noticing Luann's lack of attention, Holly asked, "What's wrong? Did you argue with Myron?"
Luann shook her head gently. "No, I was just thinking about Joshua."
Holly reached out to her. "He'll eventually appreciate your efforts. Don't stress yourself out. Let's go shopping and relax!"
Luann held her back, finally smiling. "Okay."
However, their shopping trip was cut short when Luann received a call from Emma.
Emma was so incoherent that Luann couldn't understand her, so she drove to Emma's school.
As soon as they got out of the car, Emma rushed into her arms, sobbing.
"Luann." Emma called out.
Luann caressed her hair gently. "What's wrong?"
Emma's eyes were red from crying, like a clear sky after a storm. She choked, "We've started preparing for the final exam. Usually, the teacher gives us a topic to work on privately, and we need to submit it to her when we finished. But this time, the professor asked me to paint in front of him in person these days. And he said if I couldn't, he would deduct all my credits for the year."
Emma said, with more and more agitated, full of distress in her face.
Luann furrowed her brows. "Is it the same for everyone?"
Emma shook her head vigorously. "No! No one else has such a requirement, only me."
Just as Luann was about to continue, a gentle voice came from behind. "Hello, Ms. Weaver."
Luann turned around and saw Ann approaching gracefully, wearing a light pink chiffon dress, looking very elegant.
"Hello, Ann." Luann greeted politely.
Ann's gaze swept lightly over Luann, with no deliberate adornment but looking ex-ordinary beauty. Her inherent elegance made Ann a little envious.
"I'm sorry for eavesdropping on your conversation." Ann said, " I hope you don't mind. I just came out of Mr. Ross's office and was about to bring him some dinner, I saw you and thought I'd say hello. Ms. Weaver, you don't mind, do you?"
Luann shook her head.
Ann looked at Emma, who was crying heavily and comforted her softly, "Don't be too sad, Emma. When Mr. Ross mentioned this, I happened to be there and overheard a few words. He thinks that the work you submitted last time has great potential and is considering taking you as his disciple. That's why he wants you to paint in front of him this time."
Emma muttered softly, "But I don't want to be his student."
Ann continued as if she hadn't heard it. "Emma, this painting should be handed in sooner or later, and please, you don't want to let Mr. Ross lose face."
Emma got more anxious. "But that painting is not me..."
"Ann is right." Luann interrupted Emma before she could finish. "Emma, don't let Mr. Ross down."
Emma stared at Luann, her teeth biting her lip.
Ann smiled without any hostility. "Emma, I'm looking forward to your work." With that, she left.
Emma tugged at Luann's sleeve. "Luann, what should I do? I can't paint, and if I'm exposed, Mr. Ross will definitely not let me graduate!"
Luann had an idea.
Mr. Ross was causing trouble for Emma at this time, presumably because she and Myron had dealt with him last time. He felt resentful but had no way to retaliate, so he could only vent his anger on Emma.
"Don't worry, I'll help you," Luann said softly.
"Okay!" Emma answered.
Ann quickly returned to the office and placed the lunch box on the desk.
Mr. Ross smiled at her.
Ann walked up to him, picked up the painting on the desk, and looked at it intently for a while. "Mr. Ross, are you sure that this painting that Emma submitted is Luann's?"
Ross casually glanced. "I don't know."
Whether it was Luann's or not, Luann still made him lose face in front of the students!
"This style is very much like LA," Ann pondered.
Ross didn't care. "I also have the same thought with you when I first saw it, probably a copy! Many people can paint at this level."
Ann lowered her eyes; she had been painting for many years and often studied other people's works, especially LA's, whose paintings had been at the top for ten years.
Ross said, "Let's not talk about these annoying things. The competition should have the results in half a month. Do you want to go for an interview and receive the award together?"
Every year, there is a special award ceremony for the top fifty winners of the Global Art Ranking. However, this LA has never appeared.
Ann smiled gently. "I'm not sure if I'll be there this year; it's too early for you to say that."
"There must be you! I believe in you!" Ross replied firmly.
Ann shook her head helplessly. "The ranking probably won't come out for another two days; I hope you will be there too."
Ross consoled, "As long as you are on the list, it is the greatest feedback and pride for me!"
...
Luann slowed down, put on her Bluetooth headset, and answered the call.
A fluent Frenchman came from the other side. "Hello, LA. This year's Global Art Ranking has been released. You are the first one to be informed. Congratulations on being ranked first."
The tone of the informer did not fluctuate. After all, the result had been the same since ten years ago that she got used to it.
If one day they told Luann that she had fallen from the top spot, it would be surprising.
"Okay," Luann replied imperturbably.
The informant continued. "Will you attend this year's award ceremony?"
Luann thought for a moment and, for the first time, said, "I'll go."
"Okay, I'll register for you right away. You don't have time to come. Hang on, you just said you'll participate!" The tone at the end underwent a drastic change. Just now, the calm conversation instantly rippled, and the pitch sounded particularly sharp because of the excessive rise.
It hurt Luann's eardrums.
"You, please, please say it again? Are you really coming? My God! My God! LA, are you sure you're coming this year?"
It was said that, including this year, LA has been the first on the Global Art Ranking for eleven consecutive years!
But in these eleven years, they have not produced a single bit of information about LA's identity!
Because LA has never appeared in person! This time, LA agreed to come for the first time?
