Chapter 80 Seeking Help
"Ahhhh!"
Adolph immediately sat up.
The cold water seeped through his collar, spreading to every inch of his body, chilling his bones.
In the well-air-conditioned room, Adolph finally understood what it meant to be ice-cold.
His gaze was rather unfocused as he looked at the dozen people standing neatly in front of him.
Muttering to himself, Adolph exclaimed, "Is there a flood?"
Everyone shouted in unison, “Boss!”
"Something's wrong!"
“Miss Luann has been kidnapped!”
Adolph's eyes sharpened as he staggered to his feet.
"What are you all standing around for? Hurry up and search!"
With that, he quickly headed outside.
But before he reached the door, his vision blurred, and with a bang, he fell to the ground.
4 a.m.
Adolph gathered his helpers scattered in various places to search for Luann's whereabouts.
What he thought would only take a few minutes turned out to be like finding a needle in a haystack.
“Boss, don’t worry, Miss Luann is smart, she’ll be fine.”
Adolph exploded, "How can I not worry?"
"Boss, Miss Luann is so clever, surely..."
Adolph gritted his teeth, "That scoundrel owes me a bottle of wine!"
"Before he leaves the country, I have to find him and settle it once and for all, or else I'll lose that money!"
Someone cautiously asked, “You...are you not looking for Miss Luann, but that gentleman?”
Adolph nodded, somewhat perplexed.
"What's there to find in that girl? She's shrewd."
The person beside him spoke cautiously, "But I saw that man acting suspiciously towards Miss Luann...it seemed like he had ulterior motives..."
Adolph pushed the silver-rimmed glasses up on his nose and took a cigarette out from his pocket, placing it between his lips.
His entire aura was both restrained and enticing.
"You're saying that if a man shows no interest in my sister, then he must have something wrong with him?"
"I'm worried that she lacks a pretty face by her side. If this man looks as handsome as me, I’m afraid that even I'll accept him!"
A smile curved at the corner of Adolph's mouth, and the narrow arc of his phoenix eyes glimmered beneath the lenses, a fleeting glimpse of fierceness in his eyes.
...
Luann's body shook violently.
She woke up in a panic, sweat soaking her back.
Realizing it was just a dream, Luann let out a sigh of relief, sat up, and lightly touched her scarred leg.
She looked up and her brows furrowed when she saw the time.
It was already 1 p.m.
She had actually slept through until now.
Last night, she unknowingly stayed up until daybreak and finally couldn't hold on any longer.
"If I keep dragging like this, I won't be able to attend the bidding."
Luann got up and walked to the window, gazing at the three-story height, making a daring decision.
She tore the bed sheet off, cut it into strips with scissors, and tied them together before securing them to the legs of the desk.
She threw the other end out the window.
The length was sufficient.
"Those who don't know would think I'm a thief..."
Luann sighed, then without hesitation, she grabbed hold of the "rope" and started climbing down the window.
She moved carefully, stepping on anything she could find.
As the ground drew closer and closer, Luann’s racing heart eased.
But just then, a crisp cracking sound echoed from above.
Before Luann could react, the bedsheet split in the middle.
Bang!
Luann's feet hit the ground, causing her legs to go numb, and a sharp pain surged through her ankles.
She cried out in pain and fell to the ground.
In an instant, cold sweat covered her forehead.
Gritting her teeth, Luann took a deep breath and sat on the ground for about ten minutes before slowly getting up, cautiously leaning against the wall as she walked forward.
The door of the small building was not closed.
Looking around, there didn’t seem to be anyone within a kilometer.
Entering the living room, she saw a charger on the socket next to the sofa.
She quickly plugged in her phone to charge and turned it on.
She immediately dialed the contact number on her phone that was saved as Adolph’s.
However.
She dialed several times in a row, but no one answered.
With a grim face, Luann dialed another number that she had in her memory.
Meanwhile.
Myron was on his way to a bidding together with Eddy.
The car was quiet, with only the sound of rustling pages.
Eddy took a sip of water and joked, breaking the silence.
"Myron, it's almost afternoon now. Aren't you going get some food for your woman?"
"But there are no shops within two or three kilometers nearby. Do you want her to starve?"
Myron remained unchanged and calmly said, "I went back this morning and bought her some food. It's on the table."
"She can see it when she goes downstairs and just heat it up in the microwave."
Eddy suddenly realized and couldn't help but sigh.
"Wow, you really pamper her like a treasure."
Myron smiled, neither agreeing nor disagreeing.
After Eddy finished speaking, he sensed that something was off.
He remembered locking Luann's room door from the outside last night.
"Brother, I..."
Before he could finish his sentence, his phone rang.
Myron casually glanced at it, seeing an unfamiliar number.
Without hesitation, he hung up.
The other person kept calling.
After three or four rounds, Eddy couldn't help but say, "Who is this person? So annoying, just block them."
As soon as he finished speaking, a text message notification accompanied by a ding sounded, and the message appeared on the screen.
[I am Luann.]
Myron's expression changed drastically, and he immediately picked his phone up and quickly called back.
"Luann?"
Luann's voice sounded as if she was in pain.
"Are you also in the United States?"
"Can you do me a favor?"
Myron immediately gestured for the driver to stop the car.
He keenly sensed the weakness in her tone and anxiously asked, "What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"
“I’m not feeling well anywhere... Could you come and pick me up?”
"I've already turned on the location."
Myron signaled the driver to turn around.
"I'll be there right away."
After hanging up, Myron's voice turned cold, "Go back to the small building."
Eddy's heart skipped a beat, and he anxiously grabbed Myron's arm.
"Myron, don't panic. Luann has been in the house all this time, how could something be wrong?"
“Maybe... maybe she just hasn’t eaten and is hungry.”
"In that case, why don't I go and check, and you can go to the bidding site first."
“With our back and forth, it’s likely that we’ll be late.”
"No more time left."
Myron's brows furrowed, and his tightly clenched fingers revealed his inner unease.
"How could she be hungry?"
"I bought a lot of food!"
Eddy chuckled awkwardly, stuttering, "It's...it's possible that her room is locked, and then...then..."
Myron's gaze suddenly turned icy, as if he sensed something.
Eddy quickly withdrew his hand and raised it, high above his head.
"Misunderstanding, it's all a misunderstanding."
"I was just afraid that she might run away..."
Myron's eyes were instantly consumed by raging fury, his voice roaring out.
"Stop the car!"
The next second, the car door was opened.
Myron grabbed Eddy by the collar and mercilessly threw him out!
