Chapter 213 The Trap
"Forget it if you're not keen on looking at the dossier in front of you; keeping it seems pointless."
Eddy remarked, his tone dismissive as he began tearing off a few sheets with Luann Weaver's information, ready to rip them into pieces However, his actions halted abruptly as he noticed Holly Weiss’s file right behind them.
Pausing for a moment, Eddy’s attention was diverted by a call from Holly Weiss herself, "Where are you? Wanna hang out?" she inquired cheerfully.
Eddy's demeanour shifted, his gaze sharpened, a meaningful smile curling his lips, "Sure, why not?"
After hanging up, he shot Myron Curtis a text. "Do me a solid, buddy."
Half an hour later, Holly Weiss breezed through the lounge door. Eddy sat silently on the sofa, smoking, with a cluster of cigarette butts at his feet.
Holly Weiss approached with a smile, waving her hand dismissively, "Hey, what's up? Why the long face?"
Suddenly, her eyes caught the documents on the table. With a pause, she turned on her heel and bolted. The door of the private room was shut, with two men in black standing guard like sentries.
"Come over and sit," Eddy patted the couch beside him.
Holly Weiss swallowed hard, a rare flash of nervousness crossing her face.
Her lips twitched slightly, her heart pounding with fear.
"I just remembered I forgot to lock my door before I left."
Eddy spoke sternly, "You have three seconds to come over and sit down."
His voice authoritative, like a judge’s decree.
Holly Weiss didn't dare to walk away, nor could she.
Resigned, she moved to Eddy's side, maintaining a distance of about a meter, and took her seat.
Eddy raised an eyebrow, his normally pleasant eyes clouded with displeasure.
"Am I that frightening?"
Holly Weiss shook her hands frantically, "No, not scary at all, not in the least!"
Eddy's cold gaze struck her.
Holly shuddered violently.
Such a terrifying look!
Such a fearsome expression!
Every time she saw Eddy, he was either joking around or thinking of ways to flirt with her.
She had never seen him this indifferent before, like today.
"Eddy, what did you find out?" Holly Weiss asked hesitantly.
Eddy looked at her with a half-smile, "It seems like you already knew I was investigating you guys."
"No, absolutely not." Holly Weiss waved her hands in denial, her voice tense with nervousness: "Does Myron Curtis know?"
"Your constant probing, trying to get information out of me, was all about digging into Myron Curtis's secrets, right?" Eddy cut her off.
Holly Weiss bit her lower lip nervously, unsure of how to respond.
"What do you think I should do about this?" Eddy picked up the document, scanning it leisurely.
Holly Weiss was extremely anxious and also very curious, "How did you find out?"
The Robinsons' security system was nearly invincible, written by Williams himself—it was supposedly uncrackable.
"Are you a hacker?"
Eddy nodded slowly, taking his time.
Of course, he was a hacker.
Otherwise, why would Myron Curtis constantly have him investigate things?
"A private jet takes off without authorization, and you think I wouldn't notice?"
The overhead airspace of Westland was controlled by none other than Myron Curtis himself.
Any unauthorized private jet that appeared was something Eddy could investigate immediately.
That's why he was able to keep such close tabs on the hurried departure of Luann Weaver and Holly Weiss that day.
That's how he traced the connection between Holly and the Robinsons so smoothly.
Holly Weiss couldn't wrap her head around why their private jet had been discovered by Eddy at such a late hour.
Eddy didn't seem inclined to clear up her confusion.
"What do you plan to do?" she asked anxiously.
"I'm going to show it to Myron Curtis, naturally,” Eddy responded with a level voice. “The matter involves his wife, and since he's the one who asked me to investigate, I can't just keep this information from him, can I?"
"No!" Holly Weiss instinctively protested with resolution. "By doing so, aren't you blatantly sabotaging their marriage?"
Eddy's lips curled into a cool smile. "Marriage?"
"When Luann Weaver married Myron Curtis, it’s dubious if she ever intended to settle down," he mused.
The air conditioning in the box was on full blast, raising goosebumps on anyone's skin.
Yet, Holly Weiss was covered in a sweat that traced down her lovely face, soaking into the fabric on her legs without a trace.
"I admit, Luann Weaver initially approached the Curtis family with an investigative mindset," she confessed.
"But with time and Myron’s kindness towards her, she truly fell in love with him," Holly continued, her voice brimming with sincerity. "She’s planning to genuinely start a life with him!"
"Why can't you pretend this never happened?" she pleaded.
Eddy observed Holly's desperate demeanor with a hidden delight, yet his tone remained sober. "As Myron Curtis's close friend, can I stand by and let him live a lie?"
"This is something I have to tell him."
With that, Eddy reached for his phone.
In a frantic motion, Holly Weiss lunged at him. She sat on top of him, her hands desperately trying to pry his away from the phone, her eyes begging.
"Please, don't tell him about Luann Weaver," she implored.
"You can talk about me! Tell him I had ulterior motives in getting close to you all."
"But not Luann Weaver!"
Tears edged her voice as she spoke.
"It's not negotiable," Eddy said firmly.
Holly was at her wit's end.
"What will it take for you to keep quiet?" she cried desperately. "Name your price; even if it costs me my life, I'll agree!"
Eddy smirked. "I'm not quite that eccentric."
Realizing his tone had softened, Holly understood there was room for negotiation. Her eyes flickered with a strategic spark as she decided to play her trump card, her beauty.
"Have you not always wanted to be with me?" she teased seductively.
"I could agree to that," she offered enticingly. "As long as you don't tell Myron Curtis."
Eddy's eyes twinkled with shrewdness.
He couldn't believe how easy it was to fool this naive girl.
He hadn't even played his trump card, and Holly Weiss was already waving the white flag.
"Deal!"
