Chapter 94 Going against One's Wishes

The night grew darker.

Luann sat nervously at the table, her grip wrinkling the piece of paper in front of her, with torn strips of paper scattered on the table.

The sound of a gushing shower came from the bathroom, and a layer of mist appeared on the door.

Luann picked up the teapot and poured water.

Click—

The sound of the door gently opening.

Myron walked out, wrapped in a towel around his waist, his abs neatly arranged on his upper body, and his broad and sturdy shoulders.

Luann trembled and accidentally knocked the teacup over, spilling it all over the table.

She hurriedly wiped it a couple of times, pretending as if nothing had happened.

"Rest early, you must be tired after today."

Myron hummed and picked up a hairdryer to blow-dry his hair.

Taking advantage of this moment, Luann slipped into the bathroom.

"The words earlier were just my way of casually helping Myron. He won't take them to heart. Don't overthink things..."

Luann comforted herself in this way, spending nearly an hour in contemplation before finally stepping out.

Myron was lying on the bed, seemingly already asleep.

After blow-drying her hair, Luann tiptoed onto the bed and placed the stuffed bear in between them, carefully laying down without crossing any boundaries.

“Do you think this bear is useful?”

The sudden cold voice startled Luann.

“Ah?”

With slender fingers, he reached out and grabbed the big bear, throwing it to the ground.

Luann looked at the man who was close by and asked awkwardly, "What... what are you doing?"

“You forgot the promise to Grandma tonight?”

Myron's cold fingertips lightly brushed over her eyebrows and eyes, tracing the contours of her perfect facial features. His thumb pressed down on her lips with impunity, finally settling on her delicate chin.

Squeezing tightly.

Lifting up.

Her almond-shaped eyes, bright as stars, filled with panic, clearly reflected his face.

“Didn’t we say we’d give her a great-grandchild?”

"I was just saying that casually..."

“But I believed it, what should I do?”

Myron chuckled softly, his husky voice extremely charming.

His gaze moved downward, landing on Luann’s lips.

His head slowly descended.

Their breaths intertwined, blending their scents, creating a fragrance reminiscent of lilac and mint.

Knock, knock—

The door suddenly knocked.

Myron paid no attention, continuing to lower his head.

Knock, knock, knock—

Myron narrowed his eyes.

Knock, knock, knock, knock—

Just as he was about to kiss Luann, she turned her head to the side, and his lips met her cheek instead.

Myron angrily shouted at the person outside the door, “Get lost!”

John said, "The old lady is here."

Myron had no choice but to get up, casually throwing on a piece of clothing and opening the door with a gloomy expression.

John, seeing his suppressed gloomy demeanor, knew that something bad must have happened.

The old lady cheerfully handed him a bowl of soup, saying, “Grandson, drink this quickly.”

"What is this?"

The smell coming from the bowl was extremely unpleasant.

“People outside say you’re useless, this can help you!” she said.

Myron: "..."

The next moment, the door was slammed shut.

The old lady outside was pounding on it.

Frustrated and angry.

“You child, why won’t you listen to reason! Grandma is thinking for your own good!”

Luann sat on the bed and burst into laughter.

Myron’s dark expression softened slightly, mixed with a hint of helplessness.

Forget it.

If it can make Luann happy, that’s not a bad thing.

...

In the brightly lit villa, the sound of yelling echoed throughout the night.

Occasionally, birds landing on the balcony would be frightened away by the ghostly howling.

“Why did Luann have to target me!”

"My restaurant has only been open for half a month!"

“How much effort have I put into it!”

"How much ingredients have I sourced!"

“And now it’s all ruined?!”

Juliet patted her back, helping her calm down.

“I didn’t expect her to be that kind of person...”

"But why did she specifically target you?"

“You two didn’t have any conflicts, right? It can’t be because of me...”

Ally's eyes were ablaze with anger, gritting her teeth and glaring.

"During Aunt's birthday banquet, she targeted me the entire time!"

“Now that she has found an opportunity, she definitely won’t let it go!”

Juliet nodded thoughtfully, as if deep in contemplation.

“No wonder...”

"When I saw the two of them today, Luann saw us too."

“So she must have deliberately caused trouble to have her benefactor shut down your store.”

Ally clenched her fists and pounded the table hard, causing it to shake.

“That’s definitely it!”

Juliet sighed heavily.

"Ally, perhaps we should just give up. Her benefactor has a lot of influence, and if we truly offend him, we won't have a good outcome."

Ally’s competitive spirit was ignited, and she was furious.

"Am I supposed to be afraid of him?"

“Once I find out who he is, I will definitely teach him a lesson!”

A fleeting expression of satisfaction flashed across Juliet's face. "Alright."

...

As the sky brightened, Luann leisurely got up and started getting ready for work, preparing to go to the company.

Myron, as usual, drove her to the nearby location and said, “I’ll pick you up after work.”

"Okay."

Upon entering the company, the atmosphere became extremely strange.

The seat where Alisha sat was empty, probably due to a promotion or raise.

Luann didn’t think too much about it and sat down at her own desk.

"Good morning, Luann!"

"Have you had breakfast?"

As usual, many people came over to greet her.

“Why are you limping? Did you get injured?”

"I heard you spent a few more days abroad. Was there some official business to attend to?"

Luann turned on her computer without any expression on her face and started playing computer games blatantly.

No one expected her to respond, and after glancing at her familiarity, they left.

It wasn’t until half an hour after the start of work that Luann saw Alisha.

Compared to her former radiant self, the current Alisha looked haggard, with slightly messy hair that seemed to have been casually pulled back, and with no makeup.

In this area, only managers and regular employees worked, so it was impossible for her to come back if she had been promoted.

However, Alisha walked to the area where the regular employees sat and started working.

Not a single person greeted her.

Luann stood up, picked her cup up, and went to the pantry to get water.

Before she even entered, she overheard a few people resting inside openly having a discussion..

"I really don't know how Alisha has the audacity to stay in the company. The manager position was even taken away. I don't understand what Mr. Gilbert means."

“If I were her, I would have left a long time ago.”

"Exactly! She thought she was so amazing, boldly claiming before leaving that she could secure the contract, but it turns out she relied on her body."

“Such a disgraceful thing, our company doesn’t even care about it!”

"Don't worry, in the end, it was signed by Luann. It has nothing to do with Alisha."

"Ah, I didn't expect it. Luann is usually so quiet, but she has so many connections behind the scenes. If only I had sided with her back then."

"Alright, alright, let's be careful about what we say in front of Luann from now on. Let's not provoke her."

“No.”

"If that's the case, we won’t have a fruitful outcome. " Luann lowered her gaze slightly.

Footsteps could be heard behind her.

She turned around to take a look.

Alisha, with red eyes, stood there as if she had heard the whole conversation.
