Chapter 472 Delay It for a Couple of Days
Elodie responded, "It's not about the money. The schedule is just arranged this way. Besides, we can't just cancel."
"One appointment follows another, and if one is delayed, everything else will be dragged out." Elodie explained.
Adolph was silent for a moment. Suddenly, he said, "Hold still."
With that, he gently placed two fingers on Elodie's wrist, so slender that the veins were visible.
The irregular pulse revealed Elodie's current physical condition.
Adolph's face darkened slightly.
"You need to rest in the hospital for at least three days. I'll use the best medicine to help you recover. Otherwise, the time you'll spend in the hospital in the future will be ten times more than now." Adolph warned.
Mira tugged at Elodie's sleeve, with her face full of worry.
Adolph had the skill to notice something was wrong with Elodie the first time they met yesterday. His words couldn't be ignored.
"Elodie, I think your health is the most important thing." Adolph said.
Elodie naturally understood this, but she had to leave the country in three days.
There were still many things to do back home. If she followed Adolph's plan, her work with Sunflower would have to be postponed.
Unless she gave up on Sunflower.
But who would do something so foolish?
After all, the role of Sunflower's spokesperson was a coveted position that many people would fight for.
Even Elodie herself didn't want to miss such a good opportunity.
Mira had been with Elodie for a while and could distinguish between priorities.
She understood Elodie's concerns, gritting her teeth and saying, "I think we can actually talk to Sunflower."
"Even if we can't work together this time, maybe next time."
Although the chance was slim, it was the only way to comfort Elodie at the moment.
Adolph quietly looked at the report in his hand. Both the machine's display and his diagnosis indicated that Elodie's body was at its limit.
Her body was like a tightly stretched string. If it couldn't relax, it would snap.
Elodie sighed with some melancholy. This was the first time Mira had seen her so troubled.
Both in public and in private, Elodie consistently exuded brilliance and diligence.
She often worked for twenty or thirty hours straight without sleep, only resting briefly during costume changes. After filming, she would rush to various red carpet events.
Elodie rarely turned down any work arranged by her agent.
She would just glance at it and agree.
This time, her agent had worked hard, making several trips and showing many of Elodie's magazine covers to secure the role of spokesperson.
If she really cancels, Sunflower would probably blacklist them and never work with them again.
Elodie tentatively asked, "What if I delay it by two days?"
Adolph looked at her with a half-smile, pushing his silver-rimmed glasses with his long fingers.
"Do you think Death would allow a dead person to delay by two days?" Adolph said.
This successfully extinguished Elodie's hope.
Mira understood and said, "I'll go talk to Sunflower now and let them find a new spokesperson quickly so we don't hold them up."
As she was about to leave, Elodie stopped her and said, "I'll go soon."
After all, it was her own health issue causing this. If Mira went alone, she might get blamed.
It was better for Elodie to explain herself, more polite and appropriate.
Adolph smiled and said nothing more.
Luann had just come out of a private room.
She smiled and nodded at her business partner, saying a lot of polite words.
After the partner left, she rubbed her stiff face.
It was hard to come back and renew the annual contracts with the companies.
To speed things up, Luann met with seven or eight clients in one day, talking until her lips were dry.
It was six o'clock, time to find Myron for dinner.
Luann called Myron.
Myron was in a meeting at the company. The executives were all talking at once.
Suddenly, Myron raised his hand.
The room instantly fell silent.
Everyone had question marks written all over their faces.
'Myron never takes calls during work hours. Is something big happening?' the executives thought.
Myron answered the phone, his cold voice becoming exceptionally gentle, his face softening as if an iceberg had melted, and his usually stern mouth curling into a smile.
"Baby." Myron cooed.
The uninhibited affection was enough to send shivers down anyone's spine.
"Honey, where are you? Want to have dinner together?" Luann asked in a sweet, coquettish tone, already in the car.
Her sweet voice leaked from the phone in the quiet room, and everyone heard it.
"Sure, but I have a few things to finish up here." Myron paused, "I'll send you my location. Come and find me, okay?" His voice was low and warm, like summer sunshine.
The executives exchanged glances. Myron's change in demeanor made them uneasy.
However, the calmest executive in the room was Andrew.
After all, he had seen Myron call Luann to tell her fairy tales.
So this small scene didn't faze him at all.
After hanging up, Myron immediately returned to his icy demeanor, "Let's go ahead."
The executives cleared their throats, "Mr. Curtis, losing the bid for that land in Brithia was a significant loss for us."
"Yeah, especially since it was won by our rival company. It's really pitiful."
"Mr. Curtis, this can't be continued! When will we confront them openly instead of these underhanded tactics?"
"By the way, they're expanding their branches like crazy. I say we have Mr. Nash hack into their computers and find something useful."
"That's really crude. We should just kidnap their branch manager, haha!" The executives chattered.
Myron leaned back in his chair, with his hand resting casually on the armrest, exuding an aura of regal elegance.
He raised his cold eyes and said, "Andrew, go downstairs and wait. My wife will be here soon."
The room fell silent.
They had spoken at length, yet Myron remained preoccupied with thoughts of his wife, who had not yet arrived.
