Chapter 128 Road Killer

It was already 10 p.m. after finishing training. Holly was driving Luann home. Luann looked up from her phone and glanced at the intersection ahead.

"Just drop me off there. I'll quickly buy a cake and go home. No need to send me, we're already very close," Luann said.

Holly nodded and handed her the canvas bag from the backseat.

"Look at your man, going overboard. It's unbearably hot, there's no need for a jacket," Luann said lightly, getting off the car and waving at Holly.

"I'll go now!"

"Goodbye!"

As Luann entered the cake shop, she bought a few small cakes. Just as she finished making the purchase, a rumbling sound echoed outside. The sky, which had been calm until then, suddenly flashed with lightning and roared with thunder. Strong winds blew up sand in all directions, and heavy rain poured down within a few minutes.

A worried shop assistant mumbled, "Why did it suddenly rain?"

Luann reassured her, "The rain will come and go quickly. It should stop in about half an hour." She took out a jacket and a folded umbrella from her canvas bag as she spoke.

As soon as she opened the door, a strong gust of wind howled, causing the umbrella to flutter and make a loud noise. The jacket she put on perfectly shielded her from the chill, and she didn't feel cold at all. Luann identified the direction and walked toward her home.

On the other hand, Holly's situation was not going so smoothly. She couldn't believe that the weather, which had been fine just a moment ago, suddenly turned rainy.

"I can't believe it... Did Myron become a prophet? He actually guessed it right?" Holly exclaimed in shock. She quickly turned on the windshield wipers and headlights, and tried to drive home faster. However, to her surprise, the car slipped and then came to a complete halt. Moments later, they were hit by another car.

The honking of horns buzzed incessantly.

"What's going on? What's wrong with this car?" Holly was taken aback. No matter what she did, she couldn't get the car to start again.

Thud, thud, thud!

A dull knocking sound came from the window beside her. Holly turned her head and saw a face dripping with rainwater pressed against the glass.

"Damn, you scared me in the middle of the night!" Holly muttered in annoyance.

"Get out of the car!" the person outside shouted angrily.

Knowing she was at fault, Holly opened the car door. As soon as she stepped out, the heavy rain soaked her to the bone.

"Why did you suddenly stop the car? We all crashed into you from behind!" The person wiped the water off their face and pointed backward.

It was a busy road, even at this late hour, as it was a usual high-traffic area. Holly quickly glanced back and saw four or five cars involved in a chain collision.

"I'm sorry, I apologize. My car suddenly had some issues," Holly said with sincerity.

"Don't worry, I won't deduct a single penny from the compensation for your losses." The other person looked at her disdainfully. "A woman like you, why are you driving for nothing? You're a road killer, don't you know? If I hadn't reacted quickly, today could've been a fatal accident!"

Holly's apology instantly changed tone, "Hey, hey, don't be unreasonable..."
"Your face, what does it have to do with women? Are you discriminating against our gender?"
"The one I'm talking about today is specifically you women!"
The man pointed his finger and forcefully poked Holly's shoulder.
With the advantage of height, he sarcastically mocked Holly.
Just as Holly was about to speak, the man in front of her suddenly got kicked and flew out, landing with a thud on the curb, in pain and unable to get up.
Holly looked at him in confusion.
Eddy opened an umbrella and casually retracted his leg.
He dropped a business card and threw it onto the man's face.
"Medical expenses, car repair costs, I'll take care of everything."
After saying that, he reached out his hand toward Holly.
"Aren't you leaving?"
Holly pointed at her car and said, "But this..."
"I've already called the traffic police, they will come soon. I'll have someone take your car to the authorized dealer. Don't worry."
Holly let out a sigh of relief and held his hand.
The next second, she was pulled into Eddy's embrace.
Just as she was about to break free, a deep voice sounded above her head, "Don't move, you're all wet."
"But if I lean against you like this, won't I wet your clothes too?"
"Good point, hold the umbrella."
"Why?"
Eddy handed Holly the umbrella, took off his jacket, and wrapped it around her.
"Let's go."
The jacket still carried warmth and his faint fragrance.
"Hold the umbrella properly."
"Oh."
Holly tried to hold her hand high, but with her petite stature, her arms were sore and it didn't help much.
Eddy had to bend over and walk.
"Forget it, let me do it. You're so clumsy, you can't even hold an umbrella."
Eddy finished speaking and raised the umbrella high.
A strong gust blew.
Holly wiped the rainwater off her face and silently looked up.
What's the point of this umbrella?
The rain that was supposed to hit her face couldn't be avoided at all.
"What's wrong?"
Eddy noticed something was off and asked her with his head lowered.
With a forced smile, Holly pulled the corners of her mouth, "Nothing, let's hurry..."
A low chuckle came from Eddy's throat as he shook her wet hair.
"Midget."
"You're the midget!"
Feeling challenged, Holly suddenly raised her head and glared fiercely... at his chin.
Her petite stature had always been a sore point in her life.
Especially when arguing with others, it made her lack authority!
Eddy slowly crouched down, his arms wrapped around the bend of her legs, easily lifting her up.
The sudden height made Holly feel anxious, and she hurriedly grabbed Eddy's shoulders, her nails tightly gripping his shirt.
"What are you doing?"
The umbrella was handed to her again.
Eddy's beautiful peach blossom eyes curved as he smiled, gentle like a spring breeze.
"If we hold the umbrella like this, neither of us will get wet."
Holly's heart fluttered at his words.
Blinking her eyes, her delicate face turned slightly red.
She sat on his arm, holding an umbrella in one hand and embracing his head with the other. Deep inside, she felt joyous, but she said, "This is unnecessary..."
Passersby hurriedly walked by, getting drenched and looking extremely disheveled, yet still curious.
Puffing up her cheeks in frustration, Holly lowered her head onto the top of his, whispering softly, "It feels so embarrassing... We look kind of weird like this."
The warm touch in the crook of his arm made Eddy curl up the corners of his mouth. Thinking that Holly was extremely shy, he teased her happily.
"What's so weird about it? Isn't this nice?"
Holly swallowed, feeling her throat dry. "I feel like we look like a father taking his child..."
Upon hearing the words "father" and "child," every expression on Eddy's face instantly shattered.
Why couldn't he escape from being labeled as "old" no matter when it was?!
Eddy: "..."
