Chapter 134 Registration
Joshua's hand paused.
Before he could protest, the butler strode into the living room. "Joshua, the
Master says you're not to join us at the table for dinner."
A brief silence followed, then Joshua took an array of dishes from the table and
settled back onto the couch.
After they finished eating, the group headed to the office.
Having barely slept for two nights, Joshua's head just lay on the headrest before
he succumbed to a heavy slumber.
"Get out!"
A cane unceremoniously whacked Joshua's legs twice.
Contrast to the confidence he exuded the previous morning, Joshua now
personified dishevelment. His hair, uncombed and dried after a rain, had a slight
greasy sheen.
As they entered the company, the stir of their arrival drew curious glances from
many employees.
"I wonder what the second challenge entails...".
"To be honest, I think it's really tough on Luann Weaver. As a senior director with
years of experience, she has handled countless contracts and has strong ties with
numerous corporations. Negotiating a contract shouldn't be hard."
"Yeah, I was thinking the same thing."
"Quick change of thought from yesterday, aren't we?"
"Ahem, better to correct one's mistakes than continue in error."
"We've been misled by the director before, but now that we know the truth, we
won't be taken for a ride again."
"Shh, they're coming. Let's drop it."
Convening in the boardroom, the major shareholders trickled in, taking their
seats as the Chairman and Luann Weaver arrived.
Curtis, the patriarch, took the head of the table and said, "How are the
discussions going?"
A slight, slender man stood, sliding a document onto the table. "This contract has
been stalled for over a month. Three department managers have attempted to
finish it without success."
"Joshua, Luann Weaver, you have three days. Whoever signs the contract first
wins this round."
Luann casually glanced at the contract before her. "Alright, got it."
Joshua gripped the paper, a twisted smirk crossing his features. "I'll... complete
the task on time."
Exiting the building, Myron Curtis was behind the wheel and glanced over.
"Should we stop at this company?"
"No need, let's go see Holly," Luann replied with crisp determination.
Recognizing her confidence, Myron slowed the car down to enter the location
into his GPS.
At that moment, Luann's phone rang.
"Luann, Mr. Nash and I are at Miss Weiss's place. Have you left the office yet?
Come join us to discuss the racing matter!"
"We'll be there shortly."
As soon as the door swung open, Holly Weiss came barreling into Luann
Weaver's arms like a tiny whirlwind.
Staggering back two steps, Luann collided with a firm chest behind her.
"Luann, I couldn't wait for you to get here! I just can't stand being in the same
room with Nash."
Straightening up, Luann asked with furrowed brow, "What did Eddy do?"
"He's the oldest one here," Holly ranted, "and his character is just the pits! Last
time, he barged into the bathroom while I was taking a bath and fell asleep!"
"I mean, sure, I look good, and I have a great figure, but that's no excuse for his
eagerness!"
Myron Curtis slipped by them, entering the room without a word.
Luann said resolutely, "Yeah, he deserves a rebuke."
Nodding in satisfaction, Holly hooked her arm through Luann's and headed
inside, "Oh, and I met that skunk again last night during my driving practice?"
"And would you believe it? He's competing too, calls himself 'Driving God.' If that's
true, I'm doomed to lose to him…"
"The grand prize is five million bucks, plus a diamond necklace that's worth a
fortune!"
Holly's eyes sparkled with excitement.
Alvin Curtis chuckled slyly and said sarcastically, "Dreaming of first place? Peter
North's driving skills are legendary. He's raked in awards internationally, a real
pro. You—compared to him, just pray you're not the last to finish."
He eyed Holly's petite body skeptically, unable to imagine her making any
notable impression on the racetrack.
"Hey sis," he teased, turning to Luann, "Holly's competing, aren't you tempted to
join the fun?"
Luann responded coolly, "I'm not really into it, not my thing."
"Come on, you topped the leaderboard last time you played that racing game
with us."
Eddy suddenly smacked the back of Alvin's head in exasperation.
"Are you nuts? You think a game compares to the real deal?"
Alvin yelped.
Reaching out to grab Luann's sleeve to say something, Alvin suddenly noticed a
piercing gaze on the back of his hand and quickly let go, "Oh... Luann, do you
have your driver’s license on you?"
"What for?"
