Chapter 243 Who Can Call The Shot?
Holly came up quickly.
A gossipy smile on her face.
"Your man is not home with you?"
Luann shook her head gently. "He is out, I guess something came up."
Holly sat back in her chair and let out a long sigh.
The good mood was gone.
"I was sent back by Eddy after the celebration, full of joy thinking Wilber was going to die this time, but I didn't realize the Curtis family just let him off the hook?"
"I can't get over it."
Luann didn't take it too seriously and smiled lightly. "Just because the Curtis family let him go doesn't mean Grace will."
"That's true." Holly thought about Grace's tactics and was still a bit scared even now.
It was the enemies in the shadows that were the scariest, never knowing what underhanded tricks they would use.
"That woman will get her revenge. Looks like it's going to be a good show."
"Hehehe, to celebrate the success of our counterattack this time, do you want to go out for a drink tonight?"
"I called several pretty little brothers, why don't we ......"
Luann lightly reprimanded, "You have a boyfriend now. Beware of me telling Eddy."
"Go ahead and tell Eddy. I'm not afraid."
Holly held her chin up, not the slightest bit flustered.
She wasn't going to give up all the other cute guys because of her boyfriend!
"To go or not to go? One word!"
Luann thought of her man and refused very decisively.
"No."
Holly couldn't possibly be unaware of Luann's thoughts and immediately mocked, "You're so scared of your husband? Can't you show some dignity as a wife?"
"You better calm down and leave," Luann couldn't help but urge.
If Myron found out about this, he would definitely be unhappy.
And it would be her who would suffer.
Just as Holly was about to get up, she noticed several stacks of DVDs on the bedside table.
"What era are we in? Do you still watch DVDs? That's so outdated."
"Myron found them."
"What's inside?" Holly looked at the note stuck on top. "Literary romance movie? Could it be a collection of some films?"
Luann shook her head. "I don't know."
Holly's usual hobbies were racing and watching various dramas and movies. Recently, she didn't know what to watch.
"Why don't you give it to me?"
"Sure."
Holly immediately stuffed them into her bag.
She mooched a meal from Luann. After dinner, the two of them sat on the couch playing games for a long time.
Until the sky completely darkened, Holly confidently left.
Heading straight to the bar.
the Curtis family.
The light in a room on the fourth floor was on.
Lily sat in a chair, sighing one after another.
The atmosphere in the air was particularly gloomy as if dark clouds were pressing down, making it hard to breathe.
Ben sat quietly on the side, not daring to make a sound. His legs had been numb from sitting still all afternoon.
"It's already this late, Dad should be sleeping by now," Lily finally spoke.
Ben tensed his body and quickly took over, taking the opportunity to move his legs.
"He should... Dad sleeps early..."
Lily raised her eyes at the sound and her sharp gaze stared at Ben, making his scalp tingle.
"Now you're quick to respond, why didn't I hear you say a word when Dad was dealing with Grace?"
Ben lowered his brows and eyes, looking obedient.
"Dad never really liked me, and you know that. Besides, I don't have the right to speak in the Curtis family.
"Even if I said something, no one would pay attention to me."
For all these years, Ben had been living off of Lily. In everyone's eyes, he was like a parasite attached to his wife. Even his own child couldn't carry his surname.
Lily spat venomously.
"You're worthless!
"Useless!
"You can't be of any help!"
Ben remained silent.
At first, he would feel angry and ashamed because of Lily's words.
But now, he had long become numb.
"No, I can't just sit around waiting for death. Grace has always been frail since she was little. Being locked up in the wine cellar for so long, her body definitely can't take it."
Lily stood up abruptly, feeling more and more uneasy.
She had been anxious all afternoon!
"I have to bring her back."
Ben's lips trembled, but he couldn't utter a word to stop her.
Lily walked into the basement and looked at the two servants guarding the wine cellar door.
In a cold voice, she said, "Open the door and release the young lady."
The servants glanced at each other.
"Without Vito Curtis's orders, we cannot let the young lady out."
Lily slapped one of them across the face.
"Who is the one in charge of the Curtis family? Vito Curtis or Myron?
"Open the door!"
The servant's face stung with pain, but he remained still.
Getting slapped by Lily was much better than losing his life at Myron's hands.
"Fine, very well, it seems that all of you consider Myron to be the master of this house?"
The servants remained silent.
Ben remained silent as well.
"Big sister, causing such a commotion this late at night, are you not afraid of disturbing Vito Curtis?"
A calm voice without much fluctuation came from behind.
Lily turned around and was surprised to see Diana.
"Since Dad has already let Grace receive her punishment inside, you shouldn't interfere, right?"
"If you provoke Dad, what if he throws you in there too?"
A smirk formed at the corner of Lily's mouth, her voice slightly sharp.
"It’s none of your business."
"You stayed up so late just to keep an eye on me?"
Diana shook her head lightly. "Big sister, you're thinking too much.
"I'm only concerned about my poor daughter-in-law.
"After all, Grace is the one who did wrong, isn't she?"
Lily didn't want to say any more to her and tried to open the door.
"Where are the keys?
"Hand them over!"
The trembling servant stammered, "In... in..."
Diana raised her hand, revealing a delicate key in her palm.
"Big sister, don't waste your effort."
Lily stared at her, smiling in anger.
"Fine.
"Very well.
"It seems like you want to oppose me?"
Diana raised an eyebrow.
Her voice was clear, but it carried a chilling coldness. "I don't understand what you mean, big sister."
"Wasn't it Grace who first caused trouble for my daughter-in-law?
"So you can harm us, but we're not allowed to fight back?"
Lily exposed her without hesitation. "You have disliked me for more than just one or two days.
"Why do you involve Luann in this?"
Diana was clearly using this incident to go against their family, and Lily, not being foolish, couldn't fail to see that.
Diana chuckled softly. "No matter the reason, we have won this round."
Lily watched as Diana walked away, the resentment in her heart lingering for a long time.
"I will definitely avenge twofold the humiliation they gave to my daughter in the future!"
