Chapter 346 Whose Child

Juliet listened to the busy tone, stunned.

"Bitch! How dare she hang up on me!"

She kicked the wall a few times, then took deep breaths to calm down.

"I knew Luann couldn't be trusted. She's so scheming and hates us. No way she'd give us the money easily!"

She thought, ‘First, she caused my allergy, and now Mike's in hospital.

If this keeps up, the Weaver Family's done for.

We've been spiraling down, and now we're on the brink of collapse.

With Mike out, I, a recent grad with no clue about the company, can't take over.

Besides, a failing company isn't worth my time. I'd rather make a couple of movies and earn money that way.

Luann doesn't care about Dad. Treating his illness will cost a fortune, and I don't have much left. I can't waste it on someone who's not going to make it.‘ The more Juliet thought about it, the more annoyed she got.

Wilber walked in. "Juliet, why are you standing here? Aren’t you going to stay with Uncle Mike?"

Seeing her forlorn look, he assumed she was upset about Mike.

He quickly walked over and gently put his arm around her shoulders. "Juliet, don’t be afraid. No matter what happens, I’ll be here with you. Even if the world fell apart, I would be there."

Juliet turned around, her eyes, filled with hatred moments ago, now brimming with tears.

Her beautiful face was a mess of tears. "Wilber."

She threw herself into his arms, clutching his shirt tightly, her body trembling. "I'm really sad. Why is this happening to our family? Luann won’t give money for Dad’s treatment, and we're running out of funds."

Wilber said decisively, "I'll do it! I'll pay!"

Juliet looked up, incredulous. "Really? Wilber, are you serious?"

He grabbed her hand firmly. "Of course, I’m serious! How could I leave you to face this alone?"

Juliet looked at him with gratitude.

"But it will cost a lot. Managing the company isn’t easy for you. I don’t want you to spend so much on me," she said, lowering her head.

Wilber gently stroked her hair. "Silly girl, what are you talking about? Spending money on you is never too much."

He thought, "If it weren’t for Grace ruining me, I wouldn’t have been willing to spend money on Juliet. But it seems like even God is helping me! Mike probably won’t live long, even with treatment. That money could just be for his coffin."

Juliet finally smiled. "Thank you, Wilber."

Suddenly, a strong wave of nausea hit her.

She gagged.

"What’s wrong? Are you okay?"

Juliet waved her hand. Hadn’t she already thrown up all that awful orange juice?

"Don’t worry, I’m fine. Luann just forced me to drink some orange juice."

Wilber's anger flared. "What! She knows you're allergic and still made you drink it!"

Juliet bit her lip, trying to excuse Luann. "Maybe she didn’t know."

"You’ve lived together for four years. How could she not know?" Wilber shook his head. "And you said she forced you! If she didn’t know, why would she force you?"

Juliet's eyes reddened, and she was on the verge of tears again.

"Forget it, Wilber. Luann has such a high status now. Even if she wants to hurt me, I wouldn’t dare resist," Juliet said, covering her mouth as if she was about to vomit again.

"You need to see a doctor. We’re already at the hospital. Let’s get everything checked out."

Juliet pouted. "But I don’t want to see a doctor. They’re so mean."

"For your health," Wilber coaxed gently.

He registered her and got some tests done.

When the results came out, the doctor suddenly wrote another order. "Go to the obstetrics and gynecology department."

Juliet's heart skipped a beat. "What do you mean?"

"You might be pregnant."

Juliet was puzzled.

Her mind buzzed, and she was unable to react.

Wilber jumped up, unable to contain his joy. "Doctor, is she really pregnant?"

That meant the Gilbert Family had an heir!

The doctor looked at him calmly. "Go for the test first."

Wilber hurriedly pulled Juliet along.

But after a few steps, she shook off his hand. "I’m not pregnant! How could I be pregnant?"

Wilber gave the doctor an awkward smile, then whispered in Juliet’s ear, "Juliet, don’t you remember? Last time we didn’t use condoms. The timing fits."

Juliet's long eyelashes fluttered in panic.

A sense of unease spread from the depths of her heart.

"Anyway, let’s check and confirm!"

Wilber was all smiles. In just an hour, he had received two surprises!

Originally, he thought as long as he could be with Juliet and she didn’t mind him, he would be content for the rest of his life.

But he didn’t expect Juliet to be carrying his child!

Juliet, in a daze, was pulled for the test.

In the tense and anxious waiting, the situation was confirmed.

"Juliet, you are indeed pregnant."

Juliet sat in the chair, feeling a coldness creeping up from her feet, spreading through her limbs, almost freezing her.

She thought, "This can’t be!"

Juliet’s hand unconsciously moved to her flat stomach, her fingers trembling.

Beside her, Wilber was ecstatic, holding the ultrasound report, tears of joy streaming down his face.

However, Juliet’s heart sank because she wasn’t sure whose child this really was.

She remembered that day, after being with Wilber, she received a call from James, asking her to accompany a director and an investor.

Wilber got down on one knee, looking at her with a face full of happiness. "Juliet, marry me! I’ll take care of you and the child for the rest of my life!"
