Chapter 459 Childhood Bonds

Joshua and Hill maintained that position until the Ferris wheel completed two full rotations.

When they got off the Ferris wheel, Joshua's arms were already stiff. Hill walked away quickly.

"Long legs really do have their privileges." Joshua took big strides to catch up. "Hey, what will we do next?"

Hill turned her head to the side, ignoring him.

Joshua understood Hill's mindset and guessed she was definitely feeling embarrassed for shedding tears in front of him.

Joshua took the initiative to break the awkward silence. "Come on, everyone has things they can't talk about with others. If you feel embarrassed, I'll share one of mine to make you feel better, how about that?"

Hill immediately turned his head back, staring at him seriously and intently. She seemed to be waiting for Joshua to continue.

Joshua almost swallowed his words but then thought for a moment and organized his thoughts. He began to speak slowly, "I remember when I was about ten years old, I got beaten up. Look, see this."

Joshua unhesitatingly twisted his body and lifted a small part of his shirt. On his waist, there was a scar about the size of a fingernail. It was slightly indented, looking like a piece of flesh had been gouged out. Others wouldn't notice it unless they looked closely.

"That year, I went abroad with my parents. They went into a store to take care of some business, and I was bored sitting in the car alone, and I really needed to go to the bathroom." Even after all these years, Joshua still felt a bit embarrassed talking about it. His ears even started to turn red.

He continued, "I quietly got out of the car, found a very secluded corner, and peed into the bushes. Then a little girl with wet hair emerged from the bushes. She said I peed on her head. I promise, I didn't see anyone there. Otherwise, no matter how mischievous I was, I wouldn't have done something like that. So I started to explain, but she wouldn't listen and just pounced on me, pinning me to the ground and beating me up. She was so strong."

Hill pursed his red lips. After a while, she asked, "What happened next?"

Joshua sighed deeply. "Well, then a group of kids came running over, shouting something like 'Candy.'"

Joshua scratched his head. "It was a bit awkward, but I think the girl's name was Candy. I don't know why she had such a strange name. The girl seemed to be avoiding those kids and didn't continue to bother me, but she pinched my waist. It hurt so much, and it was bleeding. Before she left, she threatened me: 'One day, I'll find you and pay you back for the humiliation you caused me today.'"

Joshua spoke with a hint of pride, "But she didn't know that I wasn't from Unionia. I urged my parents to leave that very day. So many years have passed, and she never showed up again."

Actually, Joshua left out some details. He was beaten so badly by that girl that he almost passed out. When he got up, his nose was bleeding, and he was taken to the hospital, where they found his nasal bone was broken. But such an embarrassing scene was better left unsaid.

Hill nodded thoughtfully, a slightly red tongue sweeping across his white teeth, revealing a sinister smile. "You're really lucky."

Joshua laughed heartily. "Absolutely!"

After getting off the bumper cars, Luann felt it wasn't enough. She stretched her wrist. "Honey, we should go to the racetrack someday and see who's better."

"Sure." Myron wrapped his arm around her waist and walked towards a nearby bench. After sitting down, he went to buy a cup of juice.

Luann sipped it slowly, unable to help but sigh. "If it weren't for Hill's happiness, I wouldn't have come to the amusement park. It's so beneath me."

Myron extended his long, slender fingers and gently tidied her slightly messy hair.

"Why does Hill keep chasing after Joshua?" Myron asked casually.

"That's a long story." Luann recalled something and burst into laughter, her eyes filled with mirth. "You have no idea how mischievous Hill was as a child. She would sneak out every day to fight with other kids. Some kids liked to form gangs. Hill directly provoked them. From then on, in that area, whenever she appeared, a group of kids would chase her and beat her up."

"Hill was tough, but she couldn't fight off ten kids, so she had to avoid them as much as possible. I remember she went to buy something that day and passed through that area. She had just entered the alley when she was chased, so she hid in a small bush. Then it started raining on her head. When she looked up, there was a boy peeing on her head."

Myron couldn't help but smile at this point.

Luann continued, laughing, "Hill was so angry that she beat him up. But the commotion was too big, and those kids came back. Hill, still furious, pinched a piece of flesh from the boy's waist and vowed to find him."

Myron raised an eyebrow, his voice tinged with mild surprise. After all, it was the first time he had heard such an outrageous childhood story. "So, that boy was Joshua?"

Luann nodded. Her slender fingers gently touched her chin. "Yes, I wonder if he still remembers it. Even if he does, it doesn't matter. Because in his memory, the person who bullied him was a girl. But after that incident, Hill went home and cut her hair with scissors, and she never grew it long again."

Myron nodded slightly. He suddenly felt a bit eager to see Joshua's reaction when this story came to light. After all these years, Hill suddenly showing up was clearly not a friendly visit.
