Chapter 147 Competition

Once in the car, Luann deftly changed the subject.

"I heard from Holly that you and Eddy went to visit Alvin Curtis?"

Myron gave a faint nod, his expression unchanging.
“Where is he?”

"Eddy just texted that he saw Alvin Curtis duck into a bar, but he couldn't find him."

Myron Curtis parked the car right in front of a pub and exhorted Luann Weaver before getting out.

"Stay put, I'll go find him."

Luann quickly grabbed his wrist, flashing a smile, "I'll come with you."

After a brief silence, Myron nodded, adding firmly, "Stick close to me, don't wander off."

"Mhm."

They entered Club and spotted Eddy by the entrance.

The dance floor was pulsing with energy as bodies moved rhythmically to the beat.

Sweeping her gaze across the crowd, Luann felt a strange flutter.

Had she just... made eye contact with someone?

"Myron, I think Alvin's over there."

Myron strode off, holding her hand tightly.

Noticing Luann's puzzled look, Myron offered a explanation.

"This bar can get a bit rowdy."

Luann gave a firm nod and, gripping Myron's hand a little tighter, they pushed through the throng towards where Alvin had vanished.

"That's odd, he was right over here..." she trailed off as a rather imposing woman seemed to block their view.

Tugging on Myron's sleeve, she pointed ahead.

At the end of the hallway stood a woman.

"Look at that woman."

Myron glanced over nonchalantly and turned his gaze away.

"What do you think, is she attractive?" asked Luann, her face alight with anticipation.

Myron's brow furrowed as he caught her eyes, then his gaze strayed and he tossed Eddy a casual glance.

Eddy confidently nodded at him.

Myron suddenly remembered something Eddy had once taught him.

'Women always like to ask if someone looks better than they do. When that happens, just play along and compliment her. It'll definitely make her happy.'

He nodded thoughtfully and replied with utmost seriousness.

"How could she compare to you?"

"In my eyes, you're the most beautiful woman in the world."

"You're taller than she is, your figure is more striking, and your skin is smooth..."

Luann was genuinely taken aback.
"What are you even talking about..." Myron Curtis appeared the very image of integrity, his face so earnest it showed no hint of deceit.

"In any case, you’re the fairest of them all."

Luann Weaver giggled.

Her eyes sparkled like stars, brimming with mirth as she tilted her head, her cherubic face etched with a touch of mischief.

"Really?" Luann teased, "But I think she's pretty attractive."

"What do you think, Eddy?"

Eddy's gaze roved over the woman in the distance, too far to see clearly. Yet judging by her silhouette and posture, she must be a woman with an admirable figure. Her lush, wavy hair added to her allure, and her legs, long and slender beneath the short skirt and black stockings, exuded a mature charm. This was a stark contrast to Holly Weiss's cute vibe.

Eddy's response was noncommittal: "She’s alright."

Luann nodded, letting the matter drop. She taken Myron Curtis's arm, suggesting casually, "There's no one else around here, let's go check out some other spots."

Eddy muttered absentmindedly, the gleam in his eyes flickering.

"You two go ahead, I'll hit the restroom first, then we can split up to look around. That might be quicker. We'll get in touch once we find the person."

Without hesitation, Luann Weaver acknowledged and strode away. But at the corner, she paused, then circled back around the pillar.

As Myron started to speak, Luann's soft hand clamped over his mouth.

"Shh, don't talk."

"Consider this free admission to a good show."

Hidden behind a pillar, they watched as Eddy wandered in place for a minute or two before moving away, peering around as if to ensure Luann and Myron had truly left.

Eddy adjusted his collar, cleared his throat, and made his way toward the woman.

As he drew closer, Eddy realized... Wow, this chick is really tall!

Meanwhile, Alvin Curtis stood facing the wall, trying to breathe as silently as possible.

The high heels underfoot were painfully pinching his soles, making his walk awkward and uneven. Perhaps too anxious, Alvin found himself lost in the bar he knew so well.
At the end of the corridor was nothing but a wall.

With no other option, Alvin Curtis stopped, waiting for Luann and the others to leave so he could sneak off.

But why were the footsteps behind him getting closer?!

Alvin wiped the sweat from his brow, breathing softly.
Suddenly, a playful smack landed on his backside, followed by Eddy's familiar chuckle.

"Hey there, beautiful, all by yourself?"

Alvin Curtis was speechless, and he had to resist the urge to slap Eddy across the face!

Not only had the guy betrayed him, but he'd even joined forces with Myron Curtis, hunting down his whereabouts.

Would he have disguised himself in drag and hidden here if he wasn't afraid of his older brother catching him?
Then Luann Weaver had to spot him...

Alvin Curtis suppressed a cough with a hand covering his lips, his long hair partly hiding his face as he turned his head aside.

"Beat it."

His androgynous voice took Eddy by surprise.

Eddy eyed the seemingly shy woman and teased her on purpose, "Don't be scared, I'm not a bad guy, just didn't like seeing you all alone here."

Is this some kind of test, God? Alvin Curtis thought.

"Too much to drink?"

Eddy studied Alvin Curtis's gestures, mistaking “her” distress for a headache, and offered kindly, "My car's just outside. How about I give you a ride?"

Before Alvin could respond, he felt a hand inappropriately slide to his waist.

Without hesitation, Alvin shoved Eddy away.

Eddy, caught off guard, tumbled to the ground.

He sat there stunned for a moment, not expecting such strength from this woman.

Eddy got up. His first instinct was to make sure no one had seen his embarrassing fall.

"Lady, we..."

Before he could finish, Eddy was forcefully pushed against a wall.
