Chapter 97 I'm Her Brother
A shadow fell before them.
Holly looked up; her face filled with astonishment.
"Uncle, what are you doing here?"
"What is your relationship with that man?" Eddy didn't answer but countered with another question, his eyes narrowing, seeping with a dangerous aura.
"It's none of your business." Holly pushed him away. "Move aside, you're blocking the light."
Eddy grabbed her wrist.
"Don't you know he's Luann's ex-boyfriend?"
Holly paused upon hearing this and smiled lightly. "Well, well, this little mistress is quite capable. She even remembers her seniors clearly."
Eddy's lips twitched as he saw her indifferent demeanor.
"Holly, don't act recklessly."
"That man isn't a good person."
Holly glanced in the direction of the restroom.
From this angle, she had already seen Wilber washing his hands, about to come out.
Her carefully planned scheme couldn't be disrupted by the man before her. Holly couldn't help but feel anxious.
"I'm willing to. I need a man; can't I just find anyone?"
"You can find me if you need a man."
As soon as these words were spoken, both of them froze.
Holly looked at him disdainfully. "You?"
Wilber walked out of the restroom.
Holly tried to pull her hand back forcefully, but Eddy didn't budge.
Suppressing her voice, Holly's anger was evident. "I advise you to let go quickly. Don't ruin my good fortune!"
"What good fortune do you have? Why not take me instead?" A mischievous smile curved Eddy's lips, and a chilly light flickered in his beautiful peach blossom eyes.
Just as the two of them reached a stalemate, Wilber walked over.
He wiped the corners of his lips with a tissue, his face pale with a sickly complexion.
"What's going on here?"
Holly was about to speak.
But before she could, Eddy let go of her, turned around, and faced Wilber, taking the initiative.
"I'm her brother, who are you?"
Holly stomped on his foot under the table, causing Eddy's forehead to throb in pain, but he remained composed.
Wilber suddenly realized and respectfully smiled, "Hello, I'm Wilber, a friend of Miss Holly's."
With that, he extended his hand.
However, Eddy completely ignored it.
Holly gritted her teeth. "Which one of them is your sister?"
A bank card was held between Eddy's fingertips and handed over.
Holly's eyes gleamed as she snatched it, and her expression underwent a drastic change. With an extremely sweet voice, she called out, "Brother."
"Have a seat."
Eddy finished speaking and gently nudged Holly's shoulder, indicating for her to sit inside.
Taking advantage of someone's shortcoming.
Holly obediently moved to the side.
Wilber let out a breath of relief. With another person around, these matters should be resolved.
But little did he know, Holly had asked, "Brother, did you have a meal before coming?"
Eddy was about to say no but saw this girl continuously gesturing to him.
"Yes, I've eaten."
"In that case, Mr. Gilbert, could you please."
Once the meal was over, and after Wilber went back and forth to the restroom four or five times, eventually feeling completely drained from vomiting.
As they settled the bill, Holly purposely took her time to pull out her wallet.
Wilber quickly handed over his bank card.
When the long receipt was printed, it felt like as though his heart sank.
“Mr. Gilbert, let me give you a ride back to the company.” Holly said.
Holly and Wilber walked ahead, and she glanced at her wristwatch, speaking in a soft and gentle tone.
“Well, Miss Holly, do you have any other plans later?” Wilber asked casually.
“I plan to go shopping and buying some things, but it seems you are busy, so I won't bother you.” Holly replied, then turned back and skillfully made up a story.
“Hey, didn't you say that the young master of the Gilbert family wanted to go shopping with me last time? I have some free time; so why don't you bring him along?”
Wilber's heart skipped a beat. Many men would compete to be with someone like Holly, an outstanding little rich woman.
If he missed this opportunity, it would be gone forever!
“Why don't you take me along instead, Miss Holly? At the very least, I can be your bag carrier.” Wilber suggested.
Holly looked at his expression with concern.
“But are you feeling, okay? You seem to be in a bad state.” she said.
Without hesitation, Wilber replied, “I'm fine! Of course, I'm fine!”
Holly covered her mouth and smiled coquettishly, her long eyelashes hiding the sparkle in her eyes.
With a twist of her petite body, she walked towards the luxury car.
Eddy, looking at the familiar car, found his opportunity to act tough.
Inside the mall, Holly embarked on a massive shopping spree.
“Pack everything except for this and this.” she happily instructed the salesperson.
The salesperson hurriedly called for assistance to pack each item, then approached Eddy and Wilber with the receipt.
Hesitating, they asked, “Who will take care of paying the bill?”
“I will.” Eddy said leisurely, taking out his wallet as if speaking to himself.
“My sister just loves spending money; I wonder which man in the future could afford her?”
Wilber immediately stopped him, “Let me take care of this small matter.”
Eddy looked at him meaningfully.
“That would be too much trouble.”
“It's my pleasure, my pleasure.”
If he could really get involved with such a rich woman, not to mention the clothing from this store, he could easily bring the entire mall into his pocket.
After a round of shopping, Wilber carried numerous shopping bags awkwardly, looking disheveled from behind.
On the other hand, Holly looked glamorous, walking in front with Eddy, matching perfectly.
Eddy glanced back at the exhausted and sweaty Wilber and spoke quietly, lowering his voice, “I see through your plan, you're trying to torment him and seek revenge for Luann, right?”
Holly raised an eyebrow, her bright eyes sparkling.
“I just want him to know that a toad can never eat swan meat.”
"Hurting my best friend, can I still let him go unharmed?"
"How about leaving something behind?"
Eddy breathed a barely noticeable sigh of relief, thinking that Holly might have developed some feelings for Wilber.
Their pace quickened, while Wilber struggled to keep up, sweating profusely and feeling a twisting pain in his stomach.
"Wait... Wait for me..."
His weak voice was almost inaudible.
And then, his legs gave way, and he fell forward uncontrollably.
All the shopping bags in his hands crashed to the ground with a clatter.
In the bustling mall, he looked especially disheveled.
At the moment he fell like a clumsy oaf, but surprisingly felt a sense of relief.
Holly heard the commotion and hurriedly turned around, walking over in a rush.
"Oh dear, how did you fall down?"
She nonchalantly stepped on Wilber's hand with her high-heeled shoe.
An instant of misery ensued.
"Ah! I am so sorry; I didn't see your hand."
Holly's face was full of innocence as she squatted down and helped Wilber up.
Using a scented handkerchief, she gently wiped the sweat off his forehead.
"Why can't you handle a few bags?"
Her words held a hint of reprimand and coquetry, her eyes shining with a playful charm.
"So foolish."
