Chapter 347 Harboring Private Intentions

The air froze instantly.

The doctor looked annoyed. "If you're proposing, do it outside. I have patients waiting."

Wilber was about to pull Juliet away.

She saw a glimmer of hope and suddenly asked, "Doctor, I didn't know I was pregnant and took some medication today!"

Wilber's heart skipped a beat.

"What medication?"

"Allergy medicine. I took some Claritin. Isn't it bad for pregnant women? Can I still keep the baby?"

Juliet didn't really want the baby.

First, she wasn't sure if it was Wilber's.

Second, she had just signed with Dawn Talent Agency.

She hadn't even filmed much yet. She couldn't just quit to raise a child.

"What's the name of the medication?"

"Claritin!"

"You're less than three months pregnant, which is early. Claritin can have side effects," the doctor said.

Wilber's heart sank.

Juliet, however, sighed in relief.

"So, I can't keep the baby?"

The doctor asked calmly, "Do you want to keep it?"

Before Juliet could respond, Wilber eagerly replied, "Yes! Of course, we do!"

"The medication can affect the baby, but it depends on everyone's situation. If you want to keep it, just come in for regular check-ups."

Wilber's hope reignited. "So there's still a chance?"

"Yes."

"That's great!" Wilber was overjoyed.

Looking worried, Juliet got up and walked out.

"Be careful." Wilber protected Juliet like she was precious.

Juliet bit her lip, hesitant.

Finally, she spoke, "Wilber, I don't want to keep this baby."

"I'm afraid the medication will affect its growth.

Plus, with my dad's situation, I can't focus on a new life.

And my career, I can't just give it up."

Wilber panicked. This was his only chance to have a child.

"Please don't. Juliet, the doctor said there's a chance. Let's try.

I'll take care of Uncle Mike. I promise.

As for work, if you marry me, you won't have to work hard anymore.

The Gilbert Family may not be super rich, but I can buy you anything you want.

I can easily come up with hundreds of thousands of dollars."

Juliet hesitated. "But..."

"There's nothing to hesitate about." Wilber placed his hand on her shoulder, looking serious. "I want this baby. I want to marry you. I want a family with you. Don't you want to wake up every day and see the baby and me? Don't you want a cute baby calling you Mom?"

Juliet regretted calling Wilber here.

Now that Wilber had said so much, if she kept refusing, he'd get suspicious.

"Wilber, let me calm down."

"Okay."

Mike slowly woke up.

The dark ward had a bit of light coming in through the window.

Cold wind blew in from outside.

He shivered from the cold, his nose filled with the smell of disinfectant.

"Am I in the hospital?"

Mike sat up, recalling the last scene before he fainted.

"It was Luann who had angered me!"

He felt a surge in his chest, a sweet taste in his throat, then he spat blood and blacked out.

The door creaked open.

Light from the hallway stretched in, then disappeared.

Juliet closed the door and clicked on the light, making Mike squint.

Juliet sat down, expressionless.

Mike wanted to scold her but remembered what had happened earlier.

He quickly smiled. "Juliet, you're not mad, right? I was just thinking of our best interests. If we got money from Luann, I'd give it to you first!"

Juliet gave a gentle smile. "Dad, I stopped caring about that long ago."

Mike sighed in relief. "Good. But why did I spit blood?"

"Luann angered you. The doctor said you were too upset. You need to control your emotions better."

Hearing his health wasn't in serious trouble, Mike felt less worried.

"That's good. So, when can I be discharged?"

"Dad, don't rush. The doctor said you need to rest for a few more days."

Without thinking, Mike refused. "No need. Just have the cook make some soup at home. Staying here costs too much."

His finances were almost in the red. He needed to save money.

Juliet smiled mysteriously.

She didn't tell Mike about his illness because there was no need.

"Let's see what the doctor will say tomorrow. Dad, it's late. You should rest."

"What about you?"

"I'll stay here with you."

"Okay."

Mike must have been really uncomfortable because he quickly fell asleep again.

Juliet took out her phone and messaged Wilber.

[Dad refuses treatment, afraid it will cost too much. What should I do, Wilber?]

Wilber promptly transferred a million dollars.

[Use this for now! There's a limit on my account. I'll bring you a card with three million dollars tomorrow.]

Juliet smiled happily.

[Thank you, Wilber.]

At dawn, Wilber arrived. "How is he?"

Juliet stepped out and whispered, "He's still upset."

"I'll go talk to him."

Juliet grabbed his arm. "The doctor said don't upset him. Don't be too blunt, or he might pass out again."

"I understand." Wilber patted her hand.

Entering the room, he saw Mike eating happily with a small table on his bed.

"You're here." Mike's attitude towards Wilber was lukewarm due to their past financial disputes.

Wilber nodded and gently said, "Uncle Mike, we need to follow the doctor's advice and not be too stubborn."

"It's unnecessary and a waste of money."

"I've already transferred a million dollars to Juliet and brought a card with three million dollars. Use it for now, and ask me for more if needed."
