Chapter 348 Unwilling to Think More
Mike was floored by the sudden cash windfall.
He shot a surprised look at Juliet.
Juliet gave him a knowing glance.
"Dad, the doctor said we couldn’t delay your treatment."
Mike quickly caught on, thinking, ‘Juliet's smart! She couldn't fool Luann, so she tricked Wilber instead. And that big dummy actually gave her the money!’
Mike hid a smile and put on a pained face.
"Thanks, but four million might not be enough."
Wilber laughed. "No worries. I'll cover it all. We're practically family now."
Mike was confused.
Wilber added, "Juliet's pregnant, and I plan to marry her."
Mike almost jumped out of bed.
"Really? I'm gonna be a grandpa?"
Wilber nodded, smiling. "Yep."
"Great." Mike slapped his thigh, grinning. "You two should've been together ages ago. If it weren't for Luann causing trouble, there wouldn't have been so much drama."
Juliet quickly changed the subject. "Dad, focus on getting better first. Don't worry about us."
"Alright, for the sake of becoming a grandpa, I'll get proper treatment!"
After Wilber left, Mike waved Juliet over.
"Nice job. You really fooled Wilber!"
Juliet smirked. "Of course."
Mike then frowned, thinking, ’But I'm not actually sick. If we stay too long, won't we get caught?’
Juliet smiled confidently.
"Dad, don't worry. I've got it all planned. We'll leave this afternoon and go to another hospital. We'll say you're weak, get you on a glucose drip, and keep you hospitalized. During that time, we'll ask Wilber for more money."
Mike's eyes lit up.
"Good plan, but is the pregnancy part of it too?"
Juliet dodged the question.
"Just relax and wait for the money. But it has to stay with me first."
Mike was a bit annoyed but didn't show it.
"Why?"
Juliet explained softly, "You can't spend it now anyway. If Wilber finds out, what then?"
It made sense, but Mike was still skeptical.
He worried Juliet might take the money and run.
"Dad, don't you trust me? Remember, I drank all that orange juice yesterday to help you get this money."
Feeling guilty, Mike relented.
"Alright, you keep it for now."
Juliet smiled gently, but her eyes were cold.
Mike probably wouldn't get to spend the money.
Even with the cash, Juliet wasn't satisfied. Her rightful husband was now with Luann.
She had to try something.
Her phone buzzed twice.
[(Location) Myron's been hitting this bar the past few nights.]
"A bar?" Juliet murmured, eyes gleaming. "Is he cheating?"
"Figures. A woman like Luann knows nothing about romance. How many men could put up with that?"
With a plan in mind, Juliet left the hospital.
Back home, she took a luxurious bath, slipped into a black lace dress that showed off her figure, and applied flawless makeup.
Juliet twirled in front of the mirror, smiling with pride.
She thought, ‘No way Myron can resist me. No man could.’
Juliet strutted out in high heels.
But on the way, Wilber kept texting her.
[Juliet, are you at the hospital or home?]
[I told my parents about your pregnancy. They're thrilled.]
[My mom made some nutritious soup. I'll bring it over now.]
Normally, Juliet would be happy to hear Gerald, who never liked her, was being nice. But now, she had one goal.
So she replied decisively: [Wilber, don't come. I'm really sleepy, probably because of the pregnancy. Your messages woke me up.]
Wilber got anxious.
[Alright, I won't message anymore. I'll bring the soup tomorrow. Get some rest.]
Juliet turned off her phone.
Soon, the car stopped at the bar entrance.
Juliet got out, swaying her hips as she walked in.
The bar was packed, with deafening music and a lively crowd.
But in a quiet booth at the end of the hallway, only conversation could be heard.
"Pleasure doing business."
"Pleasure doing business, Mr. Curtis."
After the person left, Eddy spoke lazily, "Myron, since the headquarters is abroad, negotiating deals here is inconvenient. You've almost come clean with Luann. Why not move abroad?"
Myron's expression was indifferent. "Now's not the time."
Eddy stretched. "Are you referring to the Weaver Family matter? With her current status, reclaiming the Weaver Family should be easy, right? Seems like she wants to take her time."
Myron nodded.
Eddy shook his head thoughtfully. "So Mike really caused Shirley's death back then?"
Myron met his gaze.
Eddy quickly explained, "Don't get worked up. I just noticed you're interested, so I did some digging. But Mike is ruthless. I heard Luann's grandfather wanted to introduce Shirley to your uncle. They were friends, with a good relationship. Mike is cruel. If he didn't want to join the Weaver Family, he could've just refused. Instead, he pretended to be obedient while doing heinous things behind the scenes. Pity the Wright Family was torn apart, changing so many lives."
If Mike and Shirley had a harmonious relationship, Luann wouldn't have gotten entangled with the Miller Family. And the Wright Family wouldn't have fallen, ending in ruin.
Myron coldly interrupted him, "Don't you need to go back to Holly?"
Eddy checked the time. "Yeah, I should get going."
Eddy stood up. "When are you heading back?"
Myron didn't look at him. "In a bit."
Eddy didn't say more, casually waved, and left the booth.
Myron leaned back, sinking into the darkness.
Eddy didn't notice that when he mentioned those things, Myron's fingers were tightly clenched into a fist.Myron didn't dare to think about some things because just imagining the scenes from back then made his heart ache terribly.
A girl who should have been adored from birth had suffered for so many years.
