Chapter 126: Highway Encounter
The piercing sound of a phone ringing interrupted the beautiful scene. Luann reached into her pocket and answered it.
Excitedly, Holly said on the other end, "Luann, tonight I'm going for driving practice. Do you want to come with me?"
Myron, who was close enough, could hear the entire conversation. Luann raised an eyebrow, silently asking.
A warm feeling arose in Myron's heart. Although he was genuinely happy, his expression remained unchanged. "If you want to go, just go. No need to ask me."
Luann acknowledged with an "oh" and said to Holly, "I'll pick you up later."
"Great, great!"
After hanging up, Luann looked down at her hand on her waist. "Can I let go now?"
Reluctantly, Myron released his hold. Luann asked, "Are you coming with me?"
Myron gently shook his head. "No, Eddy asked me to handle some things tonight. Besides, I need to keep an eye on Joshua's side."
"Alright."
Luann walked towards the closet, took some clothes, and slipped into the bathroom. When she came out dressed, she noticed that Myron was no longer in the room.
Only after going downstairs did she realize that he had been called to the kitchen by the old lady to help.
Luann lazily lounged on the sofa, playing with her phone, listening to the old lady's frustrated voice from the kitchen, which softened the corners of her mouth.
She didn't know why, but the atmosphere here made her inexplicably comfortable.
Just as the meal was ready, John, the butler, brought Holly in.
"Wow, what a mansion!" She wrinkled her nose and looked towards the dining room. "Looks like I arrived just in time? Perfect timing for a meal!"
"I haven't eaten yet. Can I join in?" Luann nodded.
Inside the dining room, Holly enthusiastically greeted Myron, the old lady, and sat down beside Luann before Myron could. A hint of hostility permeated the air.
Unaware of the tension, Holly pointed to the opposite seat. "Come, come, sit down! I'm quite used to being familiar, don't be polite with me!"
Myron could only sit across from Luann. As the old lady picked up her chopsticks, Holly followed suit. She hesitated as she looked at the peculiarly colored dishes on the table.
"Does your family's chef have shaky hands? These dishes have such intense colors..."
Luann coughed lightly, keeping her composure. "The taste is still good. Give it a try."
Skeptically, Holly picked up a piece of egg and immediately spat it out. "Ugh, it's too sweet! What's with this strange taste?"
"Luann, I know a lot of chefs. Shall I recommend a few to you?"
She completely failed to notice Myron's extremely dark expression.
"No need, I think it's good. There's room for improvement."
Luann took a bite.
Perhaps accustomed to Myron's peculiar dishes, Luann didn't find them particularly unpleasant.
After the meal, with Holly still hungry, she ordered some takeout and dragged Luann along.
"Let's go."
"Wait." Myron picked up a canvas bag and handed it to Luann.
"There's hot water, snacks and small cakes inside, as well as jackets and umbrellas."
Holly sighed deeply, "Myron, we're just going to practice driving, we'll be back in a few hours, it's not a picnic."
"Besides, the sun hasn't set yet, how could it possibly rain."
Holly took out her phone and refreshed the weather forecast to show Myron.
"Look, take a closer look, it's going to be cloudy tonight!"
Myron ignored her and firmly placed it in Luann's hands.
Holly hurriedly pulled Luann away.
"Is your husband crazy?"
"If it doesn't work, go to the hospital quickly, don't delay the treatment."
"Being considerate doesn't mean doing it this way. Does he think he's the meteorological bureau? Where does he get the confidence!"
Holly didn't have a good impression of Myron.
After all, this guy had been hostile towards her, just staring at her for no reason at the dinner table earlier.
Luann looked down and played with her phone.
"Hey, hey, are you listening to me?"
Luann brushed it off and changed the topic directly, "Where are we going to practice driving?"
"On Highway No. 2."
After speaking, she stepped on the brake and stopped by the side of the road.
Three minutes later, a delivery guy handed her the food through the car window.
"Holly, help me drive!"
"I need to eat first, I haven't had enough at your place!"
Luann sluggishly swapped places with her.
Although her foot injury wasn't completely healed, it didn't hinder her from driving.
By the time Holly finished eating, Luann had already parked the car at the entrance of Highway No. 2.
"Oh, someone else is practicing driving. Holly, are you coming with me or waiting on the side?"
"I'll wait for you."
"Alright, I'll leave the car with you and go rent a racing car nearby."
After Holly finished speaking, she parked the car in the parking lot.
Luann sat in the car, quietly watching Holly drive onto the track.
"Sir, are you here to practice driving too? Do you want to have a friendly competition? The loser buys bubble tea, sound good?"
Holly looked at the car next to her and met a pair of calm and profound eyes.
Her heart skipped a beat.
Oh my, this guy is too handsome!
He exuded a mature and calm aura, giving off a complete sense of dependence and reassurance, as if as long as she was by his side there would be no problem that couldn't be solved.
Li Beimo nodded calmly, his voice deep, "Sure."
Holly's hands holding the steering wheel trembled slightly, and with great excitement, she stepped on the accelerator, and the car sped out.
The two racing cars zoomed past the track, evenly matched.
Li Beimo didn't expect this seemingly adorable girl to have such explosive power.
Not only did she not fall behind, she was also keeping up closely.
Li Beimo squinted his eyes and quietly accelerated, trying to overtake Holly at the upcoming turn.
Accompanied by the sharp sound of brakes.
Li Beimo went off the track.
uann watched the whole process silently and couldn't help but nod approvingly.
"The overtaking was clean and quick, without any hesitation. Otherwise, it's hard to say who would win or lose..." Holly got off the car and took off her helmet, sounding annoyed.
"Just a little more!"
If Luann was driving, he would definitely crush Li Beimo to pieces!
"I'll buy bubble tea as a gesture of accepting defeat. Wait for me here."
Li Beimo raised an eyebrow in confusion, "Wait for us?"
Holly pointed towards the car with her small hand.
"My friend is there. I'll call her down later, and you guys can chat. I'll go get the bubble tea first!"
After saying that, Holly left.
Li Beimo made a vague sound of agreement, showing no intention to greet Luann.
For such a stranger, they might never meet again in their lifetime, so there was no need to waste words.
Holly chased Luann out of the car.
Luann looked around, but there were no chairs.
"If you leave the car for me, where am I supposed to sit?"
Her feet couldn't support her for a long time.
Considering Holly's back and forth, it would take at least twenty minutes.
Holly pointed rudely at Li Beimo's car beside them.
"Just sit in his car!"
