Chapter 355 The New Appointment

Joshua awkwardly twitched his mouth.

Myron told Luann, "I'll take you there tomorrow."

Luann smiled. "Okay. Let's sit and chat."

Joshua plopped onto the sofa. Seeing Hill looking eager to sit, he quickly pulled him back. "Hey, don't touch anything here. If you break something, you can't afford it!"

Hill clicked his tongue. "Aren't you rich? Can't cover a bit of damage?"

"If you break it, why should I pay?"

"Because you brought me here."

Luann quickly cut in. "Alright, just sit down."

Hill glanced at Myron, thinking, 'Luann's husband is cold and seems grumpy. I want to live a few more years.'

So, Hill sat on Joshua's lap.

Joshua was shocked and pushed him off. "What the heck! You're a pervert! Two grown men sitting together? Are you serious?" Joshua got goosebumps.

He had never been this close to any man before. It was terrifying!

"Stingy," Hill muttered, giving Luann a pleading look.

Luann smiled. "Just sit anywhere you want."

The four of them sat down, but there wasn't much to talk about.

Joshua had a lot to complain to Luann about, but Myron was glaring at him.

Their relationship was already bad, and now, it seemed worse.

Hill looked around. "Isn't anyone going to say something?"

Joshua rolled his eyes. "If you want, go ahead."

Hill nodded and touched his stomach. "I'm hungry. Got anything to eat?"

Joshua stayed silent.

Finally, Myron had enough and kicked the two of them out.

Hill grabbed an extra chicken leg on the way out.

The next morning, Myron took Luann to the company.

The towering skyscraper looked impressive.

As Luann looked up, a voice came from behind, "It's a pity. When this securities company started, the head office had high hopes. They gave it a lot of funding and rented this building for a year.

Unexpectedly, in less than half a year, the company started lost money, investing in a dozen companies and losing on all of them. They began laying off staff and renting out the building to other companies to make some money. Now it's like this."

After hearing Joshua's words, Luann said calmly, "Securities, stocks, and investments aren't for everyone."

Experience and insight were indispensable.

Joshua nodded and handed the breakfast bag he was holding to Luann. "That's why I say Grandpa is biased. Giving us a nearly dead company is just ridiculous!"

Joshua's face showed disdain. "Let's go up."

"Okay."

The two entered the building.

Because the building housed employees from various companies, the elevator was hard to catch.

It took nearly half an hour to reach their floor.

In the innermost room, they saw a sign on the door: Aspire Securities.

Joshua paused and pushed the door open.

The door creaked.

Joshua's mouth twitched. "Are all the employees dead? The new general manager is here, and no one comes out to welcome her."

As he complained, a girl who seemed to be the receptionist, dozing off at the door, finally woke up.

Her eyes were dull, but when she saw Luann, she perked up a bit. "You're here! The head office called yesterday. Come on, and I'll take you to your office."

The space, originally a three-bedroom, two-living room setup, had been converted into one big open area.

Except for the bathroom, there were no extra doors or walls. Tables were messily pushed together.

Snack bags littered the floor, and takeout comtainers were everywhere.

The remaining twenty-something employees were either yawning, watching shows, or playing on their phones.

The receptionist clapped her hands, barely getting everyone's attention. "Come on, let's give a round of applause. The new general manager and deputy general manager are here. Let’s welcome them."

No one even glanced up. "Welcome," they said, extremely perfunctory.

They knew about the new management but didn't care. They had already gone through several general managers; the last one left just three days ago.

They all believed this company was meant to be doomed. So they might as well make some money while they still could. Although they once hoped to achieve glory with the company.

Seeing them so disrespectful, Joshua was furious. He slammed his hand on the desk, a loud bang echoing.

Everyone shuddered.

"What, the company hasn't paid you? Who are you all giving the cold shoulder to? You don't even get up. Are you glued to your chairs?"

Hearing this, the employees finally turned around, annoyed.

The next second, their expressions changed.

"Is that Luann?"

"Luann!"

Completely different from their previous indifference, everyone got up and rushed to Luann, fumbling for paper and pens.

"Sign an autograph, Luann! I've watched your racing competitions ninety-nine times!"

"Luann, I've liked you longer than he has! I even went to your piano concerts! It cost me a year's salary!"

"I was a bit late. I learned your fishing techniques."

Joshua was confused and kept saying, "This isn't a fan meeting. Calm down."

But the crowd ignored him and surrounded Luann.

"Luann, sign an autograph, please!"

"My grandma likes you too. Give us a break."

Luann smiled. "Don't worry. I'll sign, but I'm here today to talk about business."

"What business?"

Joshua, who had his waist hit by the corner of a table, rolled his eyes. "The new general manager is her, and I'm the deputy general manager."

"No way!"

"Heavens, Luann, why did you come to this dump? You should leave. This place is not for an angel like you!"
