Chapter 151 Face-off
"I accidentally clicked on your livestream. In any case, the challenge has been issued. Let’s not waste our time arguing, I…” Juliet said.
Luanne interjected, “You’re the one wasting time. Are you going to take responsibility if my meal is ruined?"
After saying that, Luann returned to her cooking and said to Myron, “Please mute your phone. I don’t need the noise.”
Myron dutifully muted the phone.
Meanwhile, Juliet was delighted that Luann lost her temper. With this, it would be easier for her to shape Luann’s public image.
Following that, Juliet announced, “Forget it. Since my sister isn’t in the mood to perform, I’ll just entertain everyone with a little song.”
Juliet proceeded to play a song before she began to sing.
After a moment, a fan exclaimed, “Isn’t this song just released by Nicholas yesterday? However, you’re already singing it so well!”
Another chimed in, “How amazing! There’s no female cover of this song yet. Ever thought about posting your cover?"
After the last note faded, Juliet smiled shyly and said, “Well, I’ll record the full version later and post it. I hope everyone will show me lots of love and leave me comments!"
“Don’t worry! We have your back!”
[Matthew sent two virtual airplanes!]
"Matthew!"
"Matthew is the real MVP!"
In stark contrast to Juliet’s fans’ bustling excitement, things on Luann’s side were much quieter. She skillfully cooked; her movements were efficient and quick.
All of a sudden, a string of gift notifications flooded the screen.
[Luann’s fan sent 100 virtual diamond rings!]
…
Upstairs.
Old Mrs. Weaver sat by the window as she adjusted her phone’s brightness to the maximum. Then, she asked her butler anxiously, “John, have the diamond rings been sent?”
"Yes, they’ve been sent, Old Madam,” John replied.
“Oh, good. The platform’s limit is too low. It’d be great if the diamond ring were worth more.”
John wiped the sweat off his forehead and sighed, looking resigned.
On the phone, Juliet’s expression changed slightly, but she still remained polite. She said jokingly, “I can’t believe someone’s already sending my sister gifts. I’m so jealous.”
Mrs. Weaver pointed a wizened finger at Juliet and asked with a look of disgust, “Who is this woman? Why is she so annoying?”
“That’s Madam’s younger sister, Juliet Weaver,” John replied, explaining, “She was the one originally engaged to the young master.”
"Hmm, it’s a good thing it was changed,” Mrs. Weaver muttered.
Meanwhile, an aggrieved expression appeared on Juliet’s face as she pleaded, “Matthew, Matthew, where are you? You have to help me. Otherwise, I won’t be able to top the leaderboard."
However, after waiting for a long time, there was no gift from Matthew. With this, Juliet could no longer hold back. She quickly sent Matthew a message on Instagram.
Juliet asked, “Matthew, don’t you support me anymore?
Matthew replied, “It’s too much money…”
Juliet said, “Alright. It seems like you won’t help me top the leaderboard.”
Matthew said cryptically, “I can help you, but I have one condition."
“What is it, Matthew? I’ll do anything! Just say it.”
Matthew said bluntly, “Let’s meet up offline.”
Supporting Juliet had cost Matthew two or three million over time.
Juliet’s expression froze. Her fingers were still as they hovered over the keyboard, unable to type another word. She understood the meaning behind Matthew’s words. Finally, she made up her mind. She gritted her teeth and decided to agree for now, fully intending to use some excuse to back out later.
“Sure. I’d love to meet you too, Matthew.”
