Chapter 449 To Grab a Few drinks
As the door swung open, Ernest strolled in, looking every bit the heartthrob. His face lit up with a charming smile, giving off that friendly, boy-next-door vibe.
People started buzzing.
"Oh my God, it's Ernest!"
"He's even hotter in person than on TV!"
"You all need to get out more. He's not that great."
"You're so full of yourself."
Luann's brow twitched just a bit.
Ernest shot Luann a sheepish grin. "Sorry, hope I'm not crashing the party, Ms. Weaver."
All eyes turned to Luann, waiting for her reaction.
Ernest was the latest hotshot, but Luann was on another level of fame.
Although many girls liked Ernest, they didn't dare to speak up. It was clear that Ernest was there to see Luann.
"No worries," Luann said coolly, her eyes drifting past Ernest. "Food's about to be served."
Ernest hesitated for a second, then walked into the room instead of leaving.
Once the waiter brought the dishes, Ernest said, "You left in such a rush last time. I wanted to treat you to a meal." His meaning was clear.
Luann was about to turn him down when another voice piped up from the door, "Ernest, you took forever in the restroom. Oh, Luann!"
Emma rushed in and hugged Luann, making the fans green with envy.
"Luann, you're eating here too! Perfect, let's join tables," Emma said casually. "Is this a company dinner?"
Luann sighed. "These are my fans."
Emma froze, halfway to pulling out a chair. She looked awkward, her hand stiff. If she'd known they were Luann's fans, she wouldn't have barged in.
Luann noticed and said, "It's fine, have a seat."
Emma awkwardly touched her nose and sat next to Luann, looking a bit out of place. She stayed quiet for most of the meal.
Ernest, on the other hand, ate with perfect manners. The fans picked up on the awkward vibe and started talking less.
Luann's phone buzzed. It was a message from Myron: [Honey, something came up. After dinner, take a cab home.]
Luann hadn't planned on Myron picking her up anyway; it was just a twenty-minute ride home.
The sky turned pitch black. When it was time to pay, Ernest got up to settle the bill.
The waiter said, "Ms. Weaver is a VIP member here, so it's already covered."
Ernest nodded, not missing a beat, and put his card away.
As they were about to leave, they saw it was pouring outside. The rain was coming down hard, splashing everywhere. Traffic was heavy, and cars were zooming by.
Big John said, "Luann, it's really coming down. How about we find a spot nearby to wait it out? We can leave when the rain eases up."
"Yeah, I saw a bar nearby. Let's grab a few drinks!"
"Luann, I can't join you guys. I have a flight tonight."
"Same here, got stuff to do tomorrow. Luann, hope to catch you next time!"
"Am I the only one who wants to crash? I flew eight hours overnight. I'm beat."
The crowd was buzzing, eager to spend more time with Luann. It was a rare chance, after all.
"Drinks? I'm in!" Emma was more pumped than anyone. She hardly ever went to bars unless Joshua took her. He'd always warned her not to go alone or with strangers because she might get tricked.
Emma remembered that well. But today was different; she had Luann and Ernest with her, so she could finally let loose.
"Luann, I can down seven bottles and still be fine," Emma said excitedly.
Luann looked at her innocent eyes and expression, not quite believing she was a bar regular.
"Let's go!" Emma linked her arm with Luann's.
The bar was just a short jog from Vintage Mirror. Despite the rain, the place was packed.
Emma was all smiles, her eyes darting around, full of curiosity.
Big John went to book a private room and pay the deposit. Many people had left, so the group was smaller now.
Big John started ordering drinks. "Luann, come check out the menu. What do you want?"
Luann had just put down her bag and taken out her phone. Hearing him, she quickly walked over.
Her phone lit up on the table, but the cheerful ringtone was drowned out by the noisy chatter and music.
Ernest glanced at it. It was a call from Myron. He didn't answer it nor tell Luann.
He watched Luann's back, and after the call went to voicemail, he pressed his finger on the phone's unlock area. The phone vibrated, indicating a failed unlock.
Ernest didn't care and kept his finger there. When the shutdown options appeared, he slid up and turned off the phone.
"Sorry, the number you have dialed is currently switched off. Please try again later." Myron, sitting in his car outside Vintage Mirror, frowned slightly.
He opened the door, and a black umbrella popped open, shielding him from the rain. Dressed in suit trousers, he stepped out, looking sharp and elegant.
Entering Vintage Mirror, he asked about Luann.
The staff thought for a moment and said, "There were a lot of them, maybe seventy people. They went somewhere else to have fun because of the rain, said they'd come back when it stopped."
Myron nodded. Just then, his phone vibrated. He answered.
It was Eddy, sounding annoyed. "Where are you? I've been waiting for half an hour, and you just bailed on me?"
