Chapter 316 A Good Match
Ann approached the sink with poise, allowing the warm water to caress her slender fingers.
Holly glanced at her indifferently and exclaimed, "Oh dear!"
"Ms. White, it seems like your makeup is smudging a bit. Would you like to touch it up?"
"I have some really good makeup here. Do you want to have a try?"
Ann looked at the item Holly handed over and smiled slightly.
"I brought my own, so I don't need Ms. Weiss's."
"Besides, products of that price range really aren't suitable for my skin."
Ann's tone was exceptionally calm and carried a trace of gentleness.
However, Holly sensed a hint of disdain in her words.
"That's true. Coming from a prestigious family, everything you have must be of the highest quality," Holly said, moving closer with curiosity. "Hey, this little thing must cost a fortune, right?"
Ann smiled and nodded.
"Using makeup is like choosing a partner. The right woman only matches the right man."
"The story of Cinderella and Prince Charming only exists in fairy tales and can't be taken seriously."
"Ms. Weiss, don't you agree?"
Ann's gaze lightly swept over the makeup in Holly's hand. Though its appearance was simple, clean, and refreshing, the logo on it was something she had never seen in all these years.
'It must be some cheap and obscure brand.' Ann thought.
Holly nodded thoughtfully, "Yes, you're beautiful, so whatever you say is right."
Ann spoke softly, "If that's the case, then why are you competing with me for Eddy?"
Holly looked surprised, "Huh? What do you mean by competing? Eddy and I have been together for a long time."
Ann sighed, looking earnest and sincere.
"Ms. Weiss, I'm not trying to discourage you, but you should know that the women around Eddy never stay for long. He's someone who likes fresh faces. Perhaps right now, he indeed can't leave you. But maybe in a few days, he'll fancy another woman. I'm telling you this only because I don't want you to get hurt."
Holly chuckled, completely unfazed by Ann's attempt to sow discord.
"If that's the case, then why are you going to such lengths to tell me all this?"
"Why not just disappear for a few months, and come back to pick up the pieces after we break up?"
Clearly, Ann was flustered.
Ann should have realized that Eddy treated Holly differently from those women who were always at his beck and call.
Ann's chest rose and fell gently, as if she took a deep breath to calm herself.
"You make a good point."
"But in a relationship, unrequited affection towards someone doesn't guarantee happiness."
"If you're not a suitable match, then everything is in vain."
"Besides, you wouldn't want to marry into a family without the blessings of the elders, would you?"
Holly raised an eyebrow, saying,"If there's no love in a relationship, are you marrying him or his parents?"
"Besides, I'm used to being reckless."
"Blessings or not, it doesn't matter. The worst case is that Eddy and I will elope."
After all, she was the daughter of the Miller family, and in terms of family background, the Nash family was the one reaching up to her!
Holly, having finished speaking, didn't wait for Ann's reaction and turned to leave, only to bump into Eddy outside the door.
Eddy was looking at Holly with a smile, his charming eyes curving in amusement. It was unclear how much he had overheard.
Holly immediately felt embarrassed. She lowered her head, pretending to be casual, saying in a light-hearted tone, "Let's go. Let's go back and continue eating!"
But before her hand could touch Eddy's arm, she heard his amused voice, "So, I heard you want to elope with me?"
Holly awkwardly averted her gaze, "How could that be? We're not kids anymore. Do you really believe that? I was just trying to annoy her!"
"But I took it seriously," Eddy said.
"Well, take it seriously if you want!" Holly said, lifting her leg to walk forward.
Eddy grabbed her hand, naturally interlocking their fingers.
"Let's go. We're not eating here anymore."
"Why?" Holly looked at him, puzzled, "Are you planning to run away?"
"This was a battle that didn't need to be fought in the first place."
Eddy without etiquette, led Holly away.
Ann emerged from the restroom, her face tinged with sadness. She returned to the private room.
"Where's Holly?" Alan asked angrily, "And Eddy, where did they run off to?"
"Ms. Weiss probably isn't accustomed to the food here. I overheard Eddy say he's taking her somewhere else to eat," Ann said as she gracefully sat down.
Alan slammed the table, "Outrageous! This is too much!"
After a moment, he considered Ann's feelings and softened his tone, saying, s"Ann, don't be upset. Eddy is spoiled by me, that's why he enjoys fooling around so much!"
Ann gently shook her head, her smile poised and gracious.
"It's alright. Boys will be boys. I understand."
"But I also know that no matter how much he plays outside, he will eventually come home."
Alan sighed in relief, "It's good that you understand this."
Ann picked up her bag, "Thank you for your hospitality today. It's getting late, so I'll be leaving now."
"Alright."
After Ann left, Alan sighed, "Ann is truly wonderful. She meets all my criteria for a daughter-in-law! She's obedient, understanding, and considerate of her husband."
"Is that so?" Sharon, who was always in poor health, coughed lightly from the side.
Are you implying that I'm jealous and restrict you from going out and having fun?"
Alan's heart skipped a beat at Sharon's words.
"How could that be? That's not what I meant at all!"
"I just think Ann's temperament is more suitable for being our daughter-in-law than Holly's. She's not argumentative and poised! Such a wonderful girl."
"What's so wonderful about that?" Sharon disagreed, "If a woman truly loves a man, how could she tolerate him being with other women outside? That's no different from living separate lives."
Alan furrowed his brow.
"What are you talking about? That's a sign of deep love! Ann even said that as long as Eddy comes home in the end, it's fine."
"Alright ," Sharon said. "I'll find a few young, handsome men in their twenties."
Alan's expression turned stern, and his tone became harsh.
"Don't you dare!"
Sharon replied, feigning innocence, "Why are you so angry? Don't you love me enough to tolerate even that?"
Alan's mouth twitched, and he was at a loss for words.
"You... you really are..."
Alan stammered for a long time but couldn't come up with a coherent response.
"Ridiculous!"
