Chapter 120 Ordinary Internet Friends
Ally took a deep breath, suppressing her anger, and walked out with the pillow. With a loud bang, she closed the door behind her.
Seeing this annoying pest finally leave, Robert sighed in relief, lying on the bed and leisurely scrolling through his social media feed.
The next moment, his hand trembled violently.
His phone fell with a snap, hitting his chin.
Did he see things wrong just now?
The senior who hadn't posted on social media for half a year had actually posted something!
Robert ignored the pain on his chin, turned over and lay on the bed, hurriedly picking up his phone.
Luann's post was accompanied by a picture of milk, along with a sentence.
[Ugh... woke up and it's already dark, completely messed up my day and night.]
Holly's Heavenly Sky [Hahaha! Wake up and come downstairs already! Let's watch a horror movie together!]
Robert's gaze focused.
Are these two people together?
At the beginning, Robert only knew Luann because Holly accidentally added her to their group chat.
He had also casually asked Holly about Luann before.
But every time, she simply said that they were not in the same city and didn't want to discuss it further.
Robert quickly messaged Holly.
[Are you with the senior?]
Holly held two large bags of popcorn and looked at her phone.
[Yeah, I'm in her city! I get to see her every day!]
There was a hint of pride in her tone.
Robert tightly clenched his fingers around his phone, filled with envy and anticipation.
[Lately, I've been participating in a competition. Originally, I wanted the senior to come and meet up with me.]
Between the lines, there was a sense of grievance.
Holly threw some popcorn into her mouth, laughing gleefully.
[Oh well, what a coincidence! I'm also participating in a competition.]
Robert Winterson "..."
So, Luann didn't come to see him because she was accompanying this woman?
Seeing that Robert didn't reply, Holly tossed her phone aside and focused on finding a horror movie.
Although she was chatting with Robert every day, Holly's heart was always with Luann, who was in the same city as her.
Holly and Robert had known each other for several years, but their relationship was limited to being ordinary online friends.
Besides discussing professional matters, they didn't engage in idle chitchat, to the extent that they didn't even know each other's names.
Footsteps could be heard coming from the stairs.
Luann descended slowly, feeling her empty and growling stomach.
"I'm a bit hungry."
Holly put a large pile of snacks on the coffee table, and gestured towards the beverage she was holding.
"Have some potato chips and popcorn, and drink more. When the stomach expands, you won't feel hungry!"
Luann silently picked up her phone and ordered takeout.
As soon as she settled on the couch, Holly approached, leaning happily against her fragrant shoulder.
"It's been years since we've been like this. We used to share a bed."
"Then you left the United States, and I was left all alone."
"The bed was so cold, no warmth at all."
Luann said lightly, "Didn't you turn on the electric blanket?"
Holly pondered for a moment, then opened her mouth with a joyful smile, "Oh, right!"
Luann rubbed her hair vigorously.
The horror movie started, and both of them remained calm, not getting scared by any of the terrifying scenes.
Luann paused to have some takeout, sitting in front of the coffee table.
Holly also leaned over like an adhesive plaster, as if she wanted to stick to her at all times and never be separated.
"Luann, will we always be like this?"
"Of course," Luann replied firmly.
Holly nodded; her eyes filled with the glimmer of stars.
She giggled.
"Starting from tomorrow, I plan to take driving lessons. There's a race coming up, and I can't just abandon my racing partner, can I?"
"After all, I'm the one you raised!"
"I heard the first prize this time comes with a generous bonus and some gifts!"
Luann glanced at her from the side, "Seems like you need money?"
Holly nodded like, counting with her fingers, "Of course! I have so many younger brothers to take care of, the money just flows like water!"
"What about your card?"
Holly's gaze wandered, embarrassedly saying, "My family froze all my cards."
"Just because you came to find me?" Luann's eyebrows furrowed, a storm gathering within.
Holly didn't want her to speculate any further.
"Oh, it's none of your business. I'm just naturally clumsy, without any talent no matter what I learn."
"I'm not as talented as your brothers, and I'm even more abnormal. My IQ exploded when I was young, but unfortunately, my emotional intelligence is lacking..."
"If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have what I have now."
"So, I'm already very content!"
Luann took out a card from her wallet.
"Take it."
Holly looked at her skeptically, "Isn't this a bad idea? If Myron finds out one day, will I still have my life to spend this money?"
"Alright, alright, let's watch the movie!"
Time passed, and Luann's shoulder started to feel a slight weight.
She glanced sideways and saw Holly sleeping soundly, leaning against her.
Luann gently placed her flat on the couch.
On top, she covered herself with a thin blanket and turned down the air conditioner a bit so Holly wouldn't freeze.
After doing all of this, Luann was about to leave.
Suddenly, Holly whimpered, "Luann... don't leave me..."
Luann gently touched her hair and then patted her back a few times, just like when she used to put her to sleep as a child.
Holly's furrowed brow gradually relaxed, returning to calmness.
The next morning, Luann woke up from the couch.
In her arms was a woman with messy hair, entangling her like an octopus.
It took Luann about ten minutes to break free and quickly tidy up before leaving.
Outside the door, a familiar car was parked. The driver immediately got out, respectfully smiling and said, "Madam, Young Master has been waiting for you in the car for a while."
Luann's tone was indifferent, "How long?"
"Half an hour."
Luann gave a slight nod and walked towards the car door.
The driver opened the door, placing his hand on the door frame. Luann got in.
Myron, in the front seat turned back with a gloomy expression, barely showing a smile, "Good morning..."
"Morning."
Myron extended his slender fingers, passing her a paper bag.
"It'll get cold if you wait any longer."
Luann lightly tapped it and discovered it was still warm.
She thanked him and looked out of the window, driving on the road.
"Are we heading to the headquarters now?"
Myron nodded, handing his tablet to Luann.
"Take a look."
Luann munched on her burger while casually swiping with her fingers.
"This is..."
Alvin, who was also in the car, quickly changed his gloomy expression and excitedly said, "Grandfather told us that you want to compete fairly with Joshua for the position of Design Director."
"This news has already spread, and the whole company is buzzing about it."
"Even the board members have gotten involved, waiting for you to discuss how to compete with Joshua."
"Driver, drive faster!"
"I'm already eager to see Luann embarrassed, that's the only way I can make up for my losses from yesterday! Hahaha!"
