It seemed like the boy had never encountered someone so fierce before. His lower lip quivered, and he started crying.
Luann sighed helplessly. "Let it go, it wasn't intentional."
"Don't be so forgiving. If children aren't taught properly when they're young, who knows how arrogant they'll become when they grow up!" Joshua scolded.
Luann raised an eyebrow. "Are you talking about yourself?"
Joshua's face instantly turned green. Was he really that unlikeable?
"Bullsh*t!"
Luann burst into laughter at his words.
Across the street, two figures stood together.
Their fierce gazes were fixed on the two of them.
"That useless Joshua has been seduced by that woman, Luann! She even ruined my plan!" one of them said.
"We were so close, just a little closer!" the other added.
Grace glared, burning with anger, and clenched her fists tightly.
Ann stood by her side, gently patting her shoulder.
"Let it go. After all, she's your sister-in-law. Don't let the relationship become so tense," Ann advised.
Grace exploded upon hearing those words.
"Sister-in-law?
"Well, I admit that she is my sister-in-law. Do you think she deserves that title?
"She's not qualified for it!"
Ann sighed, "Why bother? If everyone ends up being unable to reconcile, you'll be the one at a loss."
Grace shook her head slowly. Her fierce tone combined with her sinister expression made her look extremely intimidating.
"Ann, you don't understand.
"You have no idea how much balance Luann's arrival has disrupted in our Curtis family!
"Since she showed up, do you think my life has been smooth?
"Even my siblings, who knows what spell she cast on them, are all standing on her side!
"This time, she embarrassed him so much that he had a disgusting encounter with Wilber!
"He will never let her off the hook, never!
"Now that Joshua has become useless, we can’t count on him anymore."
Ann hesitated, her rosy lips gently pursed.
"No matter what you do, I will stand by your side.
"Because you are my friend."
Grace, upon hearing these words, was deeply moved and tearfully held her hand.
"Thank you, Ann.
"If it weren't for you, I would still be punished by the old man and locked up in the cellar.
"After I resolve things here, I will definitely spend quality time with you."
Ann smiled warmly, her beautiful eyes curved, filled with warmth, even more radiant than the sun in the sky.
"Okay."
Back at the company, Luann casually threw the files at Joshua.
"Take these to the chairman."
"No problem."
Joshua quickly delivered the files and when he returned, he realized Luann was no longer in the office.
Looking at the empty chair, he inexplicably felt a little disappointed.
His phone rang at that moment.
It was a message from Luann.
"Don't slack off, go to the factory and take a look. I'll be testing you tomorrow."
Joshua sneered in disdain, "Hmph, that wicked woman, always trying to control me."
Even so, he went to the factory.
But just as he left the company, a beggar grabbed his pants.
"Sob sob, I'm starving to death. Haven't eaten for days. Please, sir, give me some food!"
Joshua kicked him away.
"You can sell your phone and afford all kinds of delicious food."
The beggar shook his head, "No, my phone is my lifeline. I need it to play games! Otherwise, begging all day is so boring."
"Just talk, but don't cling to my legs."
"So, you won't run away."
"It's none of your business if I do."
"And you still owe me twenty dollars."
"You're lying! I already treated you to a meal the last time!"
"Who saw that? Who saw that?"
"Aren't you done yet?"
"Sob sob, someone is bullying a beggar."
Joshua couldn't take it anymore and rubbed his temples. "Don't you feel tired of using the same tricks over and over again?"
"No, look, someone is recording this, the hottest search topic tomorrow might be about you."
Joshua suppressed the urge to vomit blood and said, "What do you want?"
"I'm hungry, I want to eat."
"Then get up and come with me."
"Okay, okay!"
After having their fill, Joshua took the opportunity to sneak away while paying the bill.
As the car was on its way, a heavy rainstorm suddenly started.
The road instantly became congested.
Joshua sat in the car, his fingers restlessly tapping the steering wheel, occasionally tilting his head to the side.
"When will this traffic jam end?"
Suddenly, the glass window by Joshua's side made a muffled sound. Joshua turned his head and was almost scared to death. A dirty face, paired with wet and sticky hair that covered the eyes, was particularly creepy in the rain.
"Damn it!"
"Hey, stingy, it's raining heavily. Let me stay at your place for a night, okay?"
Upon hearing the voice, Joshua finally realized who this person was. He spat fiercely and said, "Crazy!"
Just as the green light in front of him turned on, he immediately stepped on the gas pedal and hurriedly drove away. He couldn't help but glance at the rearview mirror and saw the pitiful beggar standing still amidst the busy traffic.
Because of the traffic jam, Joshua didn't go back to his old house. Instead, he went to the villa given to him by Vito Curtis to stay temporarily.
The door rang. Joshua got up from the sofa and opened it.
"Can I use your bathroom?"
Joshua was shocked, "How did you find this place?"
The beggar sneaked in with a smile on his face, all wet, and his loose clothes sticking to his body.
Joshua took a look and said speechlessly, "Even a beggar like you knows how to work out? You have some pecs."
The beggar chuckled, his voice somewhat hoarse.
"It's pouring outside. Can you bear to see your creditor wandering outside?"
Joshua helplessly lowered his head.
He never expected that one day, a beggar would enter his home.
And the most annoying part was, that this beggar shamelessly bothered him, making him feel extremely annoyed.
"As long as you're happy."
After saying this, Joshua sat directly on the sofa and ignored him.
The beggar walked behind him, "Can I use your bathroom? And can I use your bathtub, your bath ball, shower gel, and clothing?"
Even someone like Joshua, who wasn’t a germaphobe, was secretly planning in his heart.
After this beggar left, he would sell this house.
"Go ahead."
The beggar nodded, humming a song in his throat, and went upstairs.
Water was all over the floor.
He creaked open the bathroom door, took off his clothes, threw them into the trash can, and filled the bathtub with water. Then he comfortably soaked himself in it.
His phone, wrapped in a plastic bag, vibrated.
A bright light flashed.
Sunshine.
Incoming call.
To answer or not?
