Chapter 499 Forcing Her to Leave
Adolph has been feeling quite triumphant these past few days.
Because Williams rashly went to RH, it enraged Jones, who locked him in a room and didn't even give him a bite to eat, except for the daily medication.
The atmosphere in the Miller family was very low. Everyone knew it was Williams' carelessness that harmed Luann.
Two-thirds of the servants working here have been around for many years.
Luann, with her gentle and kind nature, had always gotten along very well with them since she was young.
So when this incident happened, it really angered these people.
"Luann, come, quickly try the new dessert I made. See if you like it?"
Adolph pulled Luann over and pressed her into a chair.
Luann took a bite, her eyes lighting up.
"It's really delicious."
"Then I'll make a few more." Adolph, delighted, happily turned back to the kitchen to continue working.
Jones appeared behind Luann without a sound.
"Come upstairs."
Luann took a napkin to wipe the crumbs from her lips and followed him upstairs.
They entered the study.
The door closed.
Jones, like a deflated balloon, collapsed onto the sofa.
"Luann, sit."
Luann sat across from him, her face calm.
"This time, I'm afraid I can't do anything." Jones spoke in a low voice, almost not daring to meet Luann's gaze.
He hadn't slept well all night, dreaming of Shirley and Debra, who had passed away years ago.
Jones still remembered, twenty-two years ago, the first time he saw Luann, wrapped in a blanket, her skin soft and tender like a little pink dumpling, she was so adorable.
She reached out her tiny hand, grabbed his little finger, and smiled happily.
Luann said nothing.
Jones closed his eyes, a mix of complex emotions and a desperate resolve.
"Luann, you should leave."
Luann tilted her head in confusion.
"Huh? Where should I go?"
"Leave here, go far away with Myron, and never come back." Jones suddenly stood up.
Jones pulled out a suitcase, opened the cabinet, and threw in hundreds of property deeds, business funds, and other contracts.
"I know money doesn't matter to you anymore, but you need to take these, just in case."
His movements were swift, and before Luann could react, Jones had already zipped up the suitcase and placed it in her hands.
"You have two days to hide. Find a small town or village with few people, settle down for seven or eight years, and then you'll be fine."
Jones' face was serious, not joking.
His steady eyes showed sacrifice and determination.
"If I leave, RH won't spare you or the Miller family, right?" Luann spoke softly.
Jones replied, "You don't need to worry about that. If the Miller family can't even hide, wouldn't that be too useless?"
"But everything the Miller family has will be taken by RH, and maybe even your life..."
"Enough." Jones interrupted Luann: "The Miller family has many cards to play, far more than you think. If it comes to a fight, RH may not be our match."
Jones said this to reassure Luann to leave.
He smirked mockingly, the curve very shallow.
If it were really as he said, he wouldn't have been so powerless in front of Barlow.
"What are you standing there for? Hurry up and go!" Jones urged, pulling Luann's arm and dragging her out.
Luann was momentarily dazed.
She hadn't expected Jones to give up the entire Miller family and his own life for her.
"Is it really worth it?" Luann's voice trembled slightly.
"It's not about worth. I promised your grandmother and mother that I would make sure you live a happy life, and I won't break that promise." Jones' voice was filled with determination.
Luann, however, smiled gently.
"Do you think, after living with you for so many years, I wouldn't know your nature?"
Jones was so ruthless even to Adolph and Holly, how could he do this just for a small promise?
Clearly, Jones truly saw Luann as his own daughter.
"Stop talking! I told you to leave, so leave! Are you disobeying my orders now?"
Whether it was to avoid sentimentality or being exposed, Jones urged impatiently.
Luann shook her head lightly.
"I'm not leaving."
"Luann!" Jones' forehead veins bulged in anger, his eyes bloodshot, "Now is not the time to be willful! I'm telling you, this is the only chance. Don't you want to be with Myron forever? Once you step out of the Miller Mansion, whether you're happy or sad, alive or dead, you have nothing to do with me anymore!"
Luann listened to his seemingly spiteful words without any anger.
From Jones' perspective, he only knew that RH's boss was a brutal person.
Jones was prepared for the price he would pay for letting her go.
So, he said it on purpose.
Luann responded with an "Oh."
"Then I'm leaving."
"Go!"
Luann opened the door.
She looked back at him.
"I'm really leaving?"
"Hurry up and go!" Jones waved impatiently.
Luann said nothing more and closed the door.
Jones listened intently.
Soon, he heard Luann's footsteps going down the stairs.
He jumped up and rushed to the balcony.
Soon, he saw Luann, alone, dragging the suitcase along the long, winding path towards the Miller Mansion gate.
Jones' face was full of reluctance, and he slapped the railing hard.
"These useless people! Seeing Luann with things and not even helping!"
He paused.
The sadness in his heart gradually spread.
Like a spark in the center of a forest, it quickly turned into a raging fire.
"You heartless little thing, leaving without even looking back at me." Jones' hand, gripping the railing, trembled slightly.
Until Luann's figure disappeared, he returned to the room and slumped on the sofa.
His energy instantly drained.
"Luann, I ask for nothing else, just that you live a good life with Myron."
"But don't worry, if Myron dares to bully you, I'll deal with him no matter what!"
