Chapter 409 Mother-Daughter Rift
Luann was all smiles, feeling pretty great. If Mike saw her now, he'd probably lose it.
Mike finally made it to the hospital room door. Just as he was about to knock, someone on the other side pushed it open, smacking him right in the head.
"Why won't this door open?" The nurse outside was puzzled. After a few failed attempts, she started kicking it.
The door kept banging into Mike's head, making him dizzy. Finally, he couldn't take it anymore and yelled, "Are you trying to kill me?"
The noise stopped. "What's going on? Are you okay?"
Mike, gritting his teeth, reluctantly crawled to the side. The nurse squeezed in sideways, looking shocked. "Oh my God, why are you on the floor?"
Mike couldn't admit he was trying to escape, so he forced a smile and said, "I was looking for the bathroom."
"The restroom's over there. You crawled the wrong way." The nurse looked around. "Where's your caregiver?"
"Out getting food."
"Sorry, I didn't mean to. Let me treat your wound."
Mike was about to say it wasn't necessary when the nurse called a few colleagues. They put him back on the bed, cleaned his scraped wound, applied medicine, and bandaged it up.
Mike stared blankly at the ceiling, tears streaming down his face.
The nurse said, "Does it hurt a lot? This medicine stings a bit, but it's great for reducing inflammation. It'll feel better in ten minutes. Oh dear, what happened to your finger? Let me bandage that too."
He didn't cry when his fingernail was pried off or when he fell off the bed. But now, he felt an overwhelming sense of despair. He was so close to getting out.
Luann looked at Mike's hopeless expression and couldn't help but comment to Myron, "Isn't this more entertaining than a movie?"
Myron nodded. "Great acting, the crying scene is spot on, very good."
Luann playfully curled her lips, but her eyes were cold.
Myron said calmly, "However, he'll probably try again soon."
Luann said, "No problem, let him try. Does he really think everything will be fine once he leaves the hospital?"
She turned off the screen, unable to watch any longer.
As Myron predicted, Mike soon made a second attempt. However, he failed again because the caregiver returned.
"Oh my God, Mr. Weaver, are you okay?" The caregiver quickly placed the food on the table.
Mike's face turned ashen. Instinctively, he looked at the clock on the wall. He had been struggling for almost two hours and still hadn't left the room.
At the Weaver Villa, Brianna glanced at a document briefly, then signed her name and pressed her fingerprint. Juliet stood silently behind her.
The real estate company employee said, "You have three days to move out."
Brianna nodded. "Okay."
After those people left, Brianna finally got up and went upstairs to start packing.
Juliet hurried after her mom, watching her sad figure, and couldn't help but blurt out, "Mom, why'd you sell the house to keep Dad's company afloat? The company's been bleeding money; just declare bankruptcy!"
Brianna kept folding clothes and packing them into the suitcase, not even turning around. "This company should've been Luann's. It was her grandparents' legacy. Your father ruined it. But no matter what, he did take over the Wright family's property. I have to return it."
The villa they were living in now wasn't part of the Wright family estate. After Shirley's accident, Mike sold the old house and bought this one. So, selling this one didn't matter.
Juliet couldn't hold it in anymore. "I can't take it! Are you crazy? Don't you know who's family and who isn't? If you have the guts, go be Luann's mom!"
Brianna's hand paused. "If you hadn't taken my money, would it be like this?"
Juliet laughed bitterly. "If I didn't take it, the money would either be spent on dying Dad or given to Luann. Do you think I'm stupid and don't know what you're thinking?"
Brianna shouted, "Juliet!" When she turned around, her face was already streaked with tears. "I really don't understand why you hate Luann so much."
Juliet's red lips pressed together, her eyes flashing with jealousy. "Our family of three was so happy. But one day, I suddenly had an older sister. Why should my family be divided for her? I wish her mother had died in that car accident too!"
"Juliet!" Brianna raised her hand. But Juliet grabbed it. "Are you going to hit me because of that bitch Luann?"
"I'm hitting you because of your stubbornness," Brianna's voice trembled, "The one who did wrong is your dad, not Luann."
Brianna took a few deep breaths. "Fine, even if you hate Luann because of this, what about your father? From childhood to now, he loved you the most. He gave you everything you wanted. Why, when he's seriously ill, do you want to give up on him? Your father wronged the Wright family and Luann, but he never wronged you."
Juliet laughed coldly. "Mom, at this point, don't you see what kind of person Dad is? To him, power and money are more important than anything. He forced me to drink orange juice, knowing I was allergic, just to get money from Luann. Didn't he disregard my life? So why should I show mercy?"
Brianna swayed and almost lost her balance, feeling as if she had gone deaf and couldn't hear anything. She didn't know how a once happy family turned into this.
Juliet said, "Mom, as long as you stop siding with Luann, I can promise you that the money I earn in the future will be for us to spend together. We can live a good life, just the two of us, okay?"
Brianna gave a bitter smile. "I raised you myself. It's my neglect that made you this way."
Juliet understood immediately and interrupted Brianna, "Fine. From now on, I no longer have a mother."
