Chapter 492 Resentment from Youth
Andrew didn't dare to drink.
He was afraid that if Myron found out, he wouldn't be able to keep his mouth shut.
"I heard you've been with Myron for a long time," Luann began softly, clearly having something to ask.
Andrew nodded.
"Yes, Mrs. Curtis."
"Then you must know a bit about the Curtis family, about his parents, right?" Luann asked tentatively.
Andrew hesitated for a moment, then looked up at her.
When he met her bright, star-like eyes, he couldn't help but look away.
"If you have something to ask, just ask directly."
"I just want to know why Myron's relationship with his parents seems strained, especially with his mother," Luann voiced her doubts.
At first, Luann had speculated that Diana might be a picky, harsh, or indifferent person, which would explain why Myron never mentioned her.
But after getting to know her, Luann found that Diana was actually warm-hearted beneath her cold exterior.
She seemed aloof and difficult to approach on the surface, but she had already decided in her heart who her family was and who she should be good to.
Diana had even defended her several times before.
Listening to Luann, Andrew sighed deeply.
"This is a long story."
"Mr. Curtis was a business prodigy from a young age, always receiving training and education from the Curtis family. With his parents both working at the Curtis Group headquarters, they had even more to teach him."
"When Mr. Curtis was thirteen, he started learning at the Curtis Group."
"That summer, Mr. Curtis closed his first big deal, securing a million-dollar contract for the company."
"The Curtis family was overjoyed, and Mr. Vito Curtis saw Myron's potential, focusing on grooming him to be the next heir."
"At that time, Myron was the star of the Curtis family, and everyone treated him with utmost respect."
"Afterward, Myron secured many difficult projects for the headquarters."
"You could say that young Myron was truly a business genius."
"That period was also the peak of the Curtis family."
"The four major families on the Upper West Side all gravitated towards the Curtis family."
"Myron's mother even decided to arrange a marriage with the North family."
"Although Myron didn't agree and hadn't met the North family much."
"But unexpectedly..."
"A sudden fire at the estate almost took Myron's life."
"It was a celebration party held by the Curtis family for him."
"The fire engulfed the entire rest area, and Myron was the only one inside."
"Later, Myron was rescued and rushed to the hospital overnight."
"And that day, the only one who didn't attend the celebration or go to the hospital was..."
"Diana."
Luann frowned.
Given Diana's character, she wouldn't do something like that.
"Not only that, during the subsequent treatment, Diana never visited, not even once until Myron was discharged."
"Later, Watson said that Diana spent that time on the Upper West Side, getting drunk in bars every day."
Luann sighed.
"So that's why Myron's relationship with his mother deteriorated."
Andrew said, "Actually, before the fire, Myron had a good temper and treated people well, not as cold as he is now."
"After the fire, everyone who used to care for him avoided him, secretly calling him a freak, and his position at the company was temporarily replaced. The North family, upon hearing the news, immediately canceled the engagement."
"The fall from grace was immense."
"During that time, there was no one to take care of Myron except Mr. Xie, who stayed by his side."
"Even when Myron was discharged and returned to the Upper West Side, Diana didn't visit him."
"Later, Myron moved out of the old house, with no servants at home."
"Eddy accompanied Myron to over a dozen countries, just to heal his face."
"Fortunately, Myron has been recovering day by day."
Luann murmured.
"So, after all this, he didn't publicly announce his recovery."
Andrew nodded, "Myron said that announcing it would make him a target. Instead of fighting for the family inheritance, he'd rather build his own empire."
"Later, Myron took Eddy and me and founded MLO Company."
On the way back from the restaurant.
Luann was deep in thought.
As the saying goes, the onlooker sees more clearly than the participant.
Myron was young, not even twenty, when he experienced the fire, so naturally, he was vulnerable.
As his closest mother, Diana didn't visit him, not even during the entire treatment process.
It's no wonder Myron held a grudge for so many years.
But Luann felt that, given Diana's character, she wouldn't do something like that.
Could there be some unknown hidden truth from back then?
"Sigh, if only I could ease the relationship between Myron and Diana."
"This time for Anna's birthday, I need to find an opportunity to talk to Diana."
In half a month, it would be Anna's birthday.
Luann needed to return with Myron before then.
But before that, she had to take Myron to the Miller family.
Passing by a supermarket, Luann bought some groceries.
After getting home, she started preparing the ingredients while calling Sunflower.
"Remember to set aside a set of my latest limited edition jewelry."
The other party confirmed, "Are you referring to the 'Eternal' set launching tomorrow? The one limited to ten pieces worldwide?"
"Yes."
Previously, when Luann passed by Anna's room, she saw her sitting in front of the mirror, taking out her cherished jewelry and comparing it to herself, muttering.
"So beautiful, but with my old face, no one would notice if I wore it!"
"Forget it, I'll leave it for Luann!"
"She's so beautiful, everything looks good on her."
So Luann decided to prepare a set of jewelry as a birthday gift, and also find some interesting antiques and calligraphy. Anna would surely love it.
When Myron came home that evening, he was greeted by the rich aroma of food.
He saw Luann busy in the kitchen, the warmth of home surrounding him.
Myron immediately took off his coat, changed into slippers, and quickly walked over to wash his hands.
Then he lovingly embraced her from behind.
"Luann, having you by my side is truly wonderful."
