Chapter149 Cooking Live on Camera

It was almost dawn when Luann Weaver woke up. The blanket next to her had grown cold.

Luann walked downstairs and sat by the floor-to-ceiling window. She watched the golden light illuminate the dark sky as the distant sounds of car horns began to break the early morning silence.

At some point, Myron Curtis walked in. He paused for a moment when he saw her before he asked, “Why are you up so early?”

Luann’s eyes swept over Myron’s attire as she replied, explaining, “My phone hasn’t stopped ringing. Everyone has been asking for a live stream.”

Myron frowned slightly as he draped a blanket over Luann’s shoulders.

“But I don’t know what I should do. It’d be boring if I just played the piano,” Luann said. After a brief pause, her expression brightened as she said, “I know! I’ll cook lunch. It’s not like I have anything else to do!”

Myron was just about to object to it when Luann quickly added, “Then I can livestream it for everyone to see.”

"Alright."

After Myron Curtis helped Luann Weaver clean up the kitchen, an old woman walked downstairs.

The old woman exclaimed, “Luann, you were amazing during the race!”

Luann held the old woman’s hand as she asked in surprise, “Are you interested in car races?”

The old woman shook her head and admitted, saying, “Not really. I just thought you looked really cool behind the wheel. Don’t hesitate and leave the driving outside the racing track to Myron.”

Luann smiled lightly and said, “Sure, Grandma. By the way, what would you like for lunch? I'll make it for you."

The old woman declined gently. “Oh, there’s no need for that. We have a chef for that after all.”

Luann quickly confessed, “Ah, but I just gave the chef a day off.”

The old woman pointed at Myron Curtis and said, “Isn’t he a chef as well? Two heads are better than one.”

Luann laughed coyly as she held the old woman’s arms and said, “Grandma, I’m doing a live stream, and I want to show off my cooking skills to my fans. As such, I don’t need Myron’s help today.”

The old lady thought about it for a moment before she said, “You have a point. Myron’s skills aren’t exactly very good anyway. Let me know when you’re going live, sweetheart, and I’ll send you some virtual gifts.”

"Will do!"

There were not many ingredients in the fridge, so Luann decided to go grocery shopping, dragging Myron along with her. Before leaving, she made sure to post an announcement: Live at 11 AM! Can’t wait to see everyone!”

In just a moment, many comments appeared beneath Luann’s post.

“Ah, I can't wait!”

“I wonder if it’s about racing?”

“Perhaps, she’ll play the piano?”

“I’m only here for Luann’s pretty face.”

Luann had her grocery list in hand, so she knew exactly what she wanted to buy. She was going to start with steaks.

Meanwhile, Myron followed Luann, silently watching her.

At this moment, Luann suddenly asked, “Can you pick up some veggies for me?”

Myron nodded immediately as he asked, “Sure, what do you need?”

Luann showed Myron a photo on her phone and said, “This one here.”

After taking a look, Myron said confidently, “Alright, I’ll be back in three minutes.”

However, once Myron reached the produce section and saw the sea of green, he was stumped. No matter how long he looked, all the leafy vegetables looked similar to the one in the photo.

When Luann came looking for Myron, he was still looking at the vegetables at a loss.

"Can't find it?"

Myron shook his head, looking sheepish.

Luann scanned the area before she quickly grabbed some vegetables and said, “These are the ones.”

Myron quickly took a mental note.

Luann smiled reassuringly at Myron before she said, “Don’t worry. I used to have trouble telling them apart too. You’ll get the hang of it after cooking a few times.”

“Alright, I’ll try my best.”

After a while, the duo headed home with the groceries in hand.

Myron was aware that he could not be of much help in the kitchen, so he took on the task of washing the ingredients, making sure everything was clean.

At 11 AM, Luann went live and adjusted the setup slightly.

Luann propped her phone up on a stand and positioned herself at just the right distance.

Not long after that, curious comments from her followers began to appear.

“Is my phone broken?”

“No, that’s Luann’s face.”

“Huh? No piano? No racing? Is this your home?”

“Oh, are you in the kitchen?”

Luann nodded with a smile on her face as she turned the camera to Myron. She said, “It’s almost time to eat so I thought I’d whip up something to show everyone.”

Luann glanced at the flood of messages and gifts piling up in the livestream before she gently said, “I’m going to start cooking soon so I might miss some of your comments. As for the gifts, save your money, and don’t spend it on me. It’s better to spend it on some treats for yourself.”

Luann proceeded to hand the phone to Myron so he could film the process before she began to chop the vegetables with expertise that stunned the viewers. The anticipated culinary wreck did not appear. Instead, her knife skills dazzled her viewers.

“Is this the food channel?”

“She can really cook!”

“That knife work is seriously on another level!”

Myron could not help but smirk proudly and smugly when he read the stream of praises for Luann.

Suddenly, a system notification popped up before everyone’s eyes.

“Matthew has gifted ten diamond rings to Juliet Weaver.”

Diamond rings were the most expensive gift on the app. Each one cost a whooping ten thousand dollars.

One of Juliet’s viewers dropped a hundred thousand just like that.

It should not be a problem even if Luann and her sister, Juliet Weaver, both went live at the same time. However, trouble began to brew when Juliet’s fans entered Luann’s livestream and looked at Luann’s leaderboard.

“Tsk, I thought Luann’s fans were special, but as turns out, they’re just so-so.”

“It seems like Juliet is going to top the trending chart today for sure!”
