Chapter 105 - Holmes
Just as Holly was pondering how to resolve this awkward situation.
Eddy's phone suddenly rang.
He took off his gloves, stood up, and walked toward the corner of the wall, seemingly intentionally avoiding everyone.
Whether it was what the other person said, he replied with two "uh-huh" sounds.
Then he said to Myron, "I need your help with something."
Myron got up without saying a word, his face serious, and walked out.
Eddy smiled lightly and said, "You all keep eating, and I'll settle the bill with Myron later."
Everything happened too suddenly, all within minutes.
Holly muttered, "My LV bag..."
The only response to her was the closing of the private room door.
Originally, this would have been a great opportunity for Alvin.
But he looked at Holly, who had been watching him intently, and silently got up.
"Well then, I'll leave too."
"Hey, little cutie, don't leave!"
The group of five instantly turned into a group of two.
"These people are so strange." said Luann calmly as she sipped her drink.
"They've always been strange, especially Myron," Holly's expression grew tense as she probed further, "Did you find something?"
Luann put down her chopsticks and said, "Let's talk somewhere else."
"Okay."
The two of them drove back to Holly's house.
As soon as they entered the living room, Holly hurriedly went to the kitchen and washed a bunch of fruits, cutting them into a fruit tray. She also pulled out a huge snack box from under the coffee table and immediately ordered two cups of milk tea for delivery.
After doing all these preparations, she nervously looked at Luann, barely daring to breathe.
The air was filled with tight and urgent music, the pounding rhythm speeding up their heartbeats.
Their minds were stretched taut, as if ready to snap at any moment.
For a moment, Luann was speechless.
"Could you turn off the background music from the horror movie?" she finally said.
"It's kind of creepy at this late hour, isn't it?" Holly realized and rushed to turn off the music, laughing awkwardly.
"No wonder the atmosphere felt so strange..." she trailed off.
"Ahem, let's get back on track."
"You've been married to Myron for so long, what have you discovered?" asked Holly, casually opening a bag of potato chips and munching on them.
"He often disappears without a trace and seems busy every day," Holly replied, rubbing her chin and then suddenly having an epiphany, "Are you suggesting..."
Luann nodded solemnly.
"They're having an affair?" Holly exclaimed.
Luann remained silent.
"Oh my god, it all makes sense now!" Holly clapped her hands and her eyes sparkled with excitement.
"I've been wondering why Eddy, who is obviously your gigolo, always made me feel like you two were distant."
"And he would often tell me that I was just overthinking things and he had no interest in you!"
"Now I understand, he doesn't like you at all, he clearly likes Myron!"
"He deliberately got close to you to stay by Myron's side, so that the three of you can be tied together all the time."
"I see..."
"I see now!"
"I'm so smart!"
"From now on, please call me Holmes—Luann!"
Luann was dumbfounded.
Which mental hospital didn't close its doors properly and let her out?
She silently put down the snacks and picked up her bag.
"I think I should leave first."
Holly grabbed her wrist, her curiosity burning.
"Don't go!"
"Give me more details!"
Luann furrowed her brows, pinched her thumb and index finger together, lightly flicking Holly's forehead.
"I used to think that acting was a suitable career for you, but now it seems that it's a waste of your talent."
"Why don't you write a novel instead? I'll definitely help promote it for you."
Holly blushed.
"You're mean, so I was wrong?"
Luann sighed deeply.
"My point is, since both Myron and Eddy's whereabouts are so mysterious, why don't we start with Eddy? Maybe we'll find something."
Holly nodded thoughtfully, "Makes sense. Anything else?"
"Myron seems to have a strong perception of darkness," Luann said in a low voice.
"Hmm?"
"This is definitely not something an ordinary person can do. He can accurately locate me in the dark."
This was not the first time this had happened. She had noticed this issue since the night she first arrived at the Curtis family home, including when she went to interrogate Myron about the cufflinks.
Holly pondered for a moment, "Are you saying... he's supernatural?"
Luann felt a lump in her throat, unable to say anything.
"What I mean is, he may have undergone some unusual training! That's why he is so sensitive to darkness!"
"Well, you're lucky then."
Luann closed her eyes and let out a deep breath.
"Why?"
"You won't have to worry about getting bitten in the summer! If there's a mosquito buzzing around your ear, he doesn't even need to turn on the light, just a quick flick and it's squashed."
Holly tilted her head, wearing a look of "Doesn't what I said make sense?"
Luann was left speechless. She felt her biggest mistake was discussing such a serious matter with Holly.
After all, in this woman's head, it's either games or men.
"You're right, it's getting late. I should go."
After finishing her sentence, Luann swiftly walked out of the villa, not wanting to stay for another minute.
Once inside the car, she put on her Bluetooth earphones and stepped on the gas pedal forcefully. The car zoomed out.
The call was answered quickly.
"Hello, Luann darling, what's up with Brother?"
"When are you sending Kelan back?"
On the spacious road, only this car was racing. The dim light in the car cast a look of helplessness on Luann's face.
"What, did she make you angry?"
Adolph's voice hid a hint of amusement. Not really angry, just a little difficult to communicate with.
"Tell me the time."
Hearing the coldness in Luann's words, Adolph's tone changed as well.
"Isn't it good for her to stay there with you?"
"When you decided to return to the Weaver Family four years ago, Kelan cried and protested. She persisted for so long that the family head couldn't stand it anymore and reluctantly agreed to let her come."
Luann fell silent.
"Luann darling, Kelan's presence there is not just my decision."
"You know very well that the family head never liked her."
"If it wasn't for you, she would never have stayed with us back then."
"When Kelan left the United States, she told me that you protected her for sixteen years."
"Now, it's her turn to protect you."
Luann suddenly stepped on the brake. It felt piercing in the stillness of the night.
