Chapter 54 The Mistress Rises
The atmosphere within the company was extremely delicate.
Before the weekend, everyone put a lot of effort into scolding Luann.
After the weekend, it was as if they had forgotten what they had said before and shamelessly crawled up to her.
On Luann's desk, there was a pile of snacks.
From a distance, it looked like a convenience store could be opened.
Everyone hoped that she would appreciate their intentions by indulging a bit, letting bygones be bygones.
But until the end of the workday, Luann hadn't even opened a single package.
People felt a bit disappointed, while also thinking that Luann was too petty, making a big fuss over such a small matter.
Working under the same roof and encountering each other every day, why did they make their relationship so stiff?
Just then, Luann took out two giant supermarket bags from somewhere and stuffed all the food inside with great effort.
She struggled to lift them and was about to leave.
A hand reached out.
"Luann, let me help you."
Wilber's face carried a soft and gentle smile, attempting to awaken the beautiful memories he had with Luann.
"No need, I can do it myself."
Luann sidestepped his hand and left expressionlessly.
Some of the employees sneered.
This is what they meant by being blind, referring to people like Wilber.
They didn't know how to cherish each other when they were together, but now that they have cheated, they suddenly long for the other person's goodness.
Luann continued walking forward without looking back, feeling the dozens of gazes behind her, as if she was about to stop a car.
But a car stopped in front of her before she could do that.
The car window rolled down, and Mike Weaver said in a deep voice, "Get in the car!"
Luann responded with an "Oh" and turned to walk towards the disabled beggar at the intersection, giving him all the food.
The beggar was stunned for a moment, then gratefully said, "Thank you."
Luann calmly replied, "No need to thank me, it's not like it's my money anyway."
The employees, who were watching from afar, were infuriated.
They were about to curse a few words when they noticed Wilber standing there, forcefully swallowing all the vulgarities back into his stomach.
Wilber sighed with melancholy, "Why didn't I realize before... that she's so kind?"
The employees rolled their eyes in unison.
Kind? It was bought with their money!
The road back to the Weaver Family was silent. Luann hung her head, playing with her phone, seemingly oblivious to Mike Weaver's increasingly gloomy expression.
Mike Weaver occasionally glanced at the woman beside him, the pent-up frustration burning in his chest, almost causing internal injuries.
"Do you only play with your phone when you meet your elders? Can't you even say a word of consolation?"
Luann turned her face to look at him, a smirk on her lips.
"Oh."
"Dad, is your back better?"
Mike Weaver coughed twice while clutching his chest, tightly clenching his fists.
This stubborn girl is referring to the incident where she was dealt with by Vincenzo's men at the hotel!
Finally, they arrived at the Weaver Family, and Mike Weaver was the first one to get off the car, seemingly unwilling to spend another minute with Luann.
As soon as they entered the living room, they could hear Juliet crying, sounding pitiful and aggrieved.
Her eyes were swollen like walnuts, reduced to mere slits and looking horribly ugly.
Mike Weaver's voice was filled with fury as he growled, "Look at what you've done to your sister!"
Luann grabbed her phone and turned on the flashlight, aiming it at Juliet.
Juliet screamed in fear, desperately trying to dodge.
If these unflattering photos were to be leaked at this critical moment, it would truly be adding insult to injury!
Mike Weaver understood this lesson even better than Luann. He swung a slap towards Luann's hand, but it landed on empty air.
"What are you doing?!"
Luann looked at the photos in the album, smirking.
"I'm helping my sister clarify things on her social media. After seeing her cry so miserably, people will surely sympathize with her."
"Sister, after you have caused me to become like this, why would you treat me this way... sob, sob, sob..."
Juliet cried even harder.
"How have I caused you harm?" Luann looked quite puzzled by these words. "Isn't what they're saying online true?"
Mike Weaver slammed his hand onto the table, furious. "If it weren't for you instigating things, how could this situation have escalated to such an extent?"
Luann suddenly realized something.
"Dad, have you been keeping an eye on the online news all along?"
Mike Weaver was burning with anger.
"With such a big commotion, who wouldn't know about it?"
"You're not blind, don't tell me you haven't seen it!"
Luann calmly took a sip of her tea, her long eyelashes lowered, concealing any emotions in her eyes.
When she raised her head again, the hidden coldness turned into sarcasm.
"Is that so?"
"Previously, when my sister falsely accused me of using fake bullets during the live broadcast, it caused quite a sensation too, wasn't it worse than the current situation?"
"Dad, are your eyes not working? Can't you see that?"
Mike Weaver erupted in anger, his face turning pale.
"Luann!"
Luann crossed her legs comfortably, leaning back on the sofa, lightly tapping her fingers on her knee.
"If you want to resolve the rumors about me being the other woman, it's simple. Just let me marry Wilber, then they won't have anything to say."
Mike Weaver trembled, pointing at her with his finger, feeling as though his heart disease was about to be triggered by her.
It was so easy for her to speak those words. Did he really need to call Luann back if things were that simple?
"Who doesn't know that Wilber is completely bewitched by you now? Where would he still have the intention of marrying Juliet!"
Luann shrugged helplessly.
"Dad, you are wrong to accuse me like this."
"It's not as simple as you think!" If resolving this matter was as easy as Luann made it sound, would he even need to call her back?
"No one is so blind that they can’t see how infatuated Wilber is with you right now. How could he still want to marry Juliet!"
Luann raised her hands in resignation.
"Dad, you have misunderstood me."
"In order for me to successfully become the third party in this relationship and make Wilber break up with me, I had to have some skills. After all, it's not easy to become the third party in the first place."
"And besides, becoming the third party is never an easy task."
"Don't worry, you guys. Just be patient."
Mike Weaver frowned, his face turning pale and green.
"Could you please not be so harsh with your words! What third party? Your relationship with Wilber falling apart and your inability to keep his heart has nothing to do with Juliet!"
"Well, you might be right. After all, I don't have the seductive charm like my sister. I really need to learn from her when it comes to pleasing men." Luann smiled slyly.
The sound of a car braking could be heard from outside.
"Perfect timing, I've called Wilber. If you have anything to say, you can say it to him face to face."
Upon hearing this, Juliet immediately panicked. She stood up abruptly, intending to go upstairs and touch up her makeup.
"Sister, don't leave. Let Wilber see you in this pitiful state. Don't you always cry in front of him?" Luann grabbed Juliet's wrist.
Juliet angrily shook her off, but unexpectedly, Luann transformed into a weak and fragile woman who fell to the ground.
Wilber walked in and witnessed the scene. He rushed forward in three quick steps, his voice filled with out of the ordinary anger as he yelled at Juliet.
"Juliet! What are you doing?!"
