Chapter 241 Twenty Dollars
A hint of confusion flashed through Luann's beautiful black eyes.
She tilted her head, looking innocent.
Her pitch-black eyes were exceptionally bright.
"How could that be?
"Didn't I just save you?
"Why are you treating your benefactor so aggressively?
"If I hadn't intervened, your fate wouldn't be much better than Grace's."
Joshua clenched his teeth, feeling the urge to curse.
"But I had nothing to do with this matter from beginning to end!"
Luann smiled lightly. "But the problem is, Grandpa doesn't believe that you had nothing to do with this matter."
Joshua rolled his eyes.
‘It’s all Emma’s fault!’
"Not planning to have a meal with me?"
"A meal? It would be good enough if I don't throw you off the car!" Joshua had never felt so frustrated before!
Luann exclaimed, "I just helped you earn several sets of millions worth of assets, but you don't even want to treat me to a meal worth a few tens of dollars?"
"Heh, do you think I'm a fool? You're helping me only to help yourself. Don't think I don't know that you're just trying to please me and use me."
Luann's delicate eyebrows slightly furrowed.
Joshua confidently said, "See, I told you so, right?"
"It's good for you to be so confident," Luann muttered quietly.
"What do you mean?" Joshua's eyebrows furrowed.
"You are not smart enough for me to utilize."
Joshua remained silent.
"I feel like you're insulting me," he finally said.
Luann casually tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "Sorry, I accidentally spoke my true words."
Joshua was taken aback.
"Fuck!"
After spending so much time with Joshua, Luann realized that he was just an idiot. The time he tried to hit her with a car was probably the bravest thing he had ever done in his life.
In simple terms, he was someone who constantly wanted to be in a higher position but had no real ability. He displayed all his dissatisfaction and disgust on his face. His likes and dislikes towards people were very obvious. But actually, the more he did this, the less cunning he would be.
"I'm hungry."
"Weren't you just eating? You greedy ghost!"
"Maybe."
Joshua rolled his eyes and sneered. "You can starve!"
Luann looked at the roads on both sides, somewhat confused. "Are we going to the company? It's the weekend, we don't have to work."
"Of course, I know! I'm taking you out to eat!"
The car couldn't drive to the final destination, so Joshua parked it in the company's garage. When they got out, Luann noticed a beggar on the side of the road and became lost in thought.
"Why are you looking at him? He's dirty."
"You still haven't paid him back."
Joshua's heart skipped a beat. "How do you know?"
"He just grabbed me and told me. He said you're dishonest and haven't paid back the twenty dollars you borrowed from him."
"What twenty dollars? It was clearly ten!" Joshua shook his head. "No! I never borrowed money from him, that money was mine!"
Luann looked at him with complicated eyes.
"You're really stingy."
Luann took out twenty dollars from her wallet and put it in the beggar's bowl.
Joshua was furious and snatched it back.
The beggar shook his head. "Ah, people nowadays are stingier the richer they are. They wear clothes worth tens of thousands but still snatch the money from my beggar bowl."
"You're talking nonsense!"
"I'm not."
"You're speaking bullshit!"
"That's truly a wonderful sound."
Luann stood silently on the side, listening to their childish argument.
In the end, Joshua got tired of arguing and hungry.
"Forget it, I won't bother with him anymore.
"Let's go, Luann, I'll treat you to a meal!"
The beggar chuckled. "You won't bother with me but you argued with me for half an hour?"
Joshua raised his hand. "I will beat you, do you believe it or not?"
"Come on, come on, slap me in the face," the beggar reached into his pocket and pulled out his latest model brand-name smartphone. He opened the camera and switched it to selfie mode, aiming it at the two of them.
"It looks like tomorrow's headline will be about the Curtis family's young master assaulting a beggar on the street!"
Joshua looked at his expensive phone worth thousands of dollars, momentarily speechless.
"Are you a beggar, for real?" Joshua asked.
The beggar lowered his head and looked at his torn and tattered clothes. "Don't I look like one?"
Joshua sighed and covered his forehead. "Forget it, why am I arguing with you here."
"Can you take me for a meal?"
Joshua decided to go somewhere else to eat. Originally, he wanted to take Luann to the stall in that alley where they used to eat, a plate of fried noodles for ten dollars. He grabbed Luann and started walking.
The beggar picked up his bowl and chased after them.
"Can you stay away from us?" Joshua said.
"Look at yourself, dirty and stinky!"
Joshua felt a bit nauseous.
He took two steps back.
The beggar sniffed.
"No, my smell is fragrant, not at all stinky. I take a bath every day."
Joshua was on the verge of a breakdown. "What do you want, anyway?"
"I want to get my twenty dollars back," the beggar said, with a serious expression on his dirty face.
Joshua was defeated. He threw the twenty dollars on the ground.
"Take the money and get lost!"
The beggar picked it up and stuffed it back into his hand.
"I changed my mind, I don't want the money, I just want to eat."
Joshua was completely speechless.
The three of them arrived at the garage, and Joshua pushed Luann into the car, rushed to the driver's seat, and slammed the door shut.
He started the car.
When Joshua checked the rearview mirror, he couldn't see the beggar anymore, and he breathed a sigh of relief.
"That annoying guy finally disappeared."
Luann kindly reminded him, "He seems to be on top of your car."
Joshua's pupils shrank.
He suddenly stopped the car at the side of the road and got out to check.
The beggar was indeed lying comfortably on top of the car, his feet propped up, and his shoes had a hole in them, with his big toe sticking out.
"Fuck!" Joshua shouted in frustration. "Are you made of gum or something?! I can't shake you off!"
The beggar chuckled.
"I really give up!" Joshua was completely helpless towards this shameless person. He yelled, "Get down! I'll take you to eat!"
They walked to the alley and found the familiar restaurant.
"Just order whatever you want to eat!"
"After you're done, get the hell out of here!"
The beggar nodded and ordered several items, eating hungrily.
Joshua was puzzled. "But you have money, why are you so hungry?"
"I... ahh..." The beggar mumbled while eating.
Joshua felt disgusted. "Never mind, just eat your food!"
