Chapter 254 The Swan on Daytime

The sound of a computer game was playing loudly.

Adolph's door was kicked open.

"Lower the volume, don't disturb her rest."

Adolph manipulated the computer with a clickety-clack sound without even looking back. He said, "Hey, big brother, you're so concerned about Luann."

Williams raised his toe, effortlessly closing the door behind him.

He approached and directly unplugged the computer's power source.

The screen instantly went dark.

Adolph wasn't angry either. He swiveled his chair, lightly shaking it, facing Williams.

"What's up?"

Williams calmly spoke, "I told you, the sound of your computer is too loud and it will disturb Luann."

Adolph clicked his tongue and casually picked up the silver-rimmed glasses on the table and put them on.

His temperament was gentle, and the softness of the silver frame concealed all the sharpness in his eyes.

"Big brother, why are you making such a fuss today?"

"Since childhood, whenever Luann wants something or wants to do something, when has the head of the family not given in to her?"

"That Holly girl, if Luann wants to keep her, the head of the family will definitely agree."

"You're so desperate to show yourself in front of Luann, it's just to establish a good brother image in her heart..."

"Oh no, whether it's a good brother or not, we don't know yet."

Williams' slender fingers picked up the coffee pot and slowly poured two cups of coffee.

"Very clever."

Adolph shrugged.

"But I just want to say, you're wasting your efforts."

"Luann is only six years old this year, what does she understand?"

"In her heart, you and I are no different, just brothers."

Williams said calmly, "That's the case now, but it doesn't mean it will be like this in the future."

"One day, she will know my feelings for her."

Adolph raised an eyebrow.
"When will that day be?

"When Luann is twelve, you'll be eighteen?

"Or when she's eighteen, you'll be twenty-four?

Williams handed him the coffee cup.

"You're too meddling.

"Don't forget, whose home is this?"

Adolph raised both hands.

"Okay okay okay, pretend I didn't say anything today.

"I don't want to get involved in your affairs.

"But let me remind you, Luann is not only your baby but also mine.
"If you ever hurt her because of this, don't blame me for disregarding our brotherhood."

Williams chuckled lightly, somewhat surprised.

"I will never hurt her in my lifetime."

Adolph glanced at him sideways.

"That's for the best."

When Holly woke up, there was no one beside her.

She glanced at the clock on the wall.

It was four o'clock in the morning.

Only four o'clock in the morning, where did Luann go?

Holly quickly got out of bed, feeling a sense of panic for no reason.

She pushed open the door with a bang and bumped into a servant passing by her door.

"I'm sorry!"

The servant was stunned for a moment, and then smiled, "Oh, it's Holly. It's okay. Why are you up so early?"

Holly bit her lip and asked, "Where is Luann?"

"Luann is studying in the study," the servant replied.

"Ah? Studying?" Holly was taken aback, finding it hard to believe.

"So early?" she asked.

The servant nodded. "The master has high expectations for Luann. She has to learn a lot. The designated rest time is every night at nine, she must go to bed, and she wakes up at three fifty in the morning. She starts studying at four on the dot. I am about to prepare breakfast for Luann."

Holly widened her eyes and asked, "Can you take me to the study?"

"Sure, but Holly, you can't speak. You can only quietly observe. If you disturb Luann's studying, the master won't be happy."

"Okay!" Holly agreed.

Light spilled out from the crack in the study's door. The girl sat on a chair with various books and materials in front of her.

Holly watched for a while, feeling a bit sorry for her.

She followed the servant downstairs and watched as the servant made breakfast. Unable to resist, she asked, "What is Luann learning? Is she going to elementary school?"

Holly had heard from the orphanage's director’s mom that children usually start attending kindergarten at the age of three and go to elementary school at six or seven.

The servant chuckled and shook her head. "We have teachers come to our home to teach Luann. She finished college courses at a very young age."

"Now she is studying design, business investment, painting, and so on..."

Holly uttered an astonished "Oh."

So, Luann was really talented. But it was also very tough for her.

"It's great that Holly can stay," the servant sighed, speaking more than usual. "Although Luann is excellent, she is also lonely."

"Yesterday was Sunday, her only day off each week."

Holly bit her lip. "So, she doesn't even have any friends..."

"That's right, Luann has no friends, and the master wouldn't allow her to make any. But it's different now that Holly is here. You're both girls, so you will definitely get along well."

Holly nodded. No wonder... No wonder Luann said last night that Holly was her first friend. So that's what she meant.

"Holly," the servant suddenly squatted down and looked her in the eye.

"Please, no matter what, stay with Luann and be a good companion to her."

Holly nodded firmly. "I will."

It wasn't until dawn that Luann came out of the study. There was no expression on her face, just like when Holly first saw her at the orphanage.

"Luann..." Holly started.

Luann shifted her tired gaze toward Holly and a faint smile appeared on her lips. "You got up so early."

Holly nodded. "I want to go back to the orphanage..."

"What's wrong?"

"I have a little friend there... I want to bring him back."

Luann furrowed her brows. "A friend?"

"Yes, it's a dog," Holly said, her eyes gleaming. "I was with it before the headmistress took me in."

Luann said, "Alright, I'll accompany you."

The servant hesitated and said, "Luann, you have to review the company management documents in ten minutes..."

"I can stay up late to handle it."

"The head of the house said you can't stay up late. At your age, you need to ensure the quality of your sleep every day."

Holly busy replied, "I can go by myself. Luann, don't worry, I'll go early and come back early."
Luann had to have the driver take her there.

However, Holly looked for the dog for a long time at the door of the welfare home and couldn't find it.

"Hey, isn't that Holly who was adopted yesterday?"

"Yeah! Why is she back? Could it be that she was rejected?"

"Look at her clothes, aren't they pretty! Who would have thought the ugly duckling could become a swan?"

"What swan? She only deserves to sleep on cold tiles and eat leftovers we don't want!"
Holly ignored these mocking children and continued her search.

"Hey, are you looking for that dog?"
"We found it too noisy, so we drove it away"
