Chapter 16 Who is the Thief
Luann Weaver's words left the woman speechless.
The paper slapped on her face felt like a searing pain, as if it had cut through a wound.
Realizing that Luann Weaver might not be so easy to bully, the people around began discussing as the lunch break approached.
"Alisha, do you want to go to the cafeteria together?"
Alisha Mullen adjusted the collar of her professional uniform, inadvertently showing off her diamond necklace.
"I heard a new Japanese restaurant opened nearby. I was planning to try it."
Everyone was envious, saying, "You really know how to enjoy life. A meal at a Japanese restaurant costs a lot of money!"
"Yeah, I've never eaten there before."
Alisha Mullen smiled lightly, "It's not that expensive, really."
"You don't think it's expensive Alisha, your husband runs a company and makes millions each month. He can easily afford a necklace that costs hundreds of thousands, unlike us... we struggle to make ends meet even after working hard for the company for a month."
"Don't even mention it, I owe over ten thousand on my credit card..."
Alisha Mullen sighed, "How about I treat you to Japanese food today?"
"Alisha, you're so generous!"
All those who used to have a good relationship with Alisha Mullen gathered around, and after a rough count, there were more than a dozen people.
The lunch bell rang, and everyone was eager to go.
Alisha Mullen quickly packed up and looked over at Luann Weaver.
"Shall we go together?"
"No, thanks, I brought my own lunch."
Luann Weaver smiled at her.
Alisha Mullen didn't insist, and left with a group of people.
Luann Weaver, tired from playing on the computer, heated up her lunch in the microwave.
After taking a few bites, she realized that it was just as unappetizing as the morning meal.
Her phone rang, and it was a WeChat message from Myron Curtis.
["Have you eaten?"]
Luann Weaver responded: ["I have."]
Then she silently put down her lunch and picked up her bag to go to the company cafeteria.
After finishing her meal, she bought a cup of milk tea nearby. On her way back, she saw a man holding roses standing at the company entrance, constantly looking around.
Without looking to the side, Luann Weaver walked past, but unexpectedly, the man grabbed her.
"Miss! These roses were sent to you by Mr. Daniel!"
Luann Weaver casually shook off his hand and said calmly, "You've got the wrong person."
"Huh? Aren't you Miss Alisha Mullen?"
"No."
Just as the man was confused, a voice came from behind him, "What are you doing! You didn't even check the name, I'm the one who's supposed to give the flowers to my wife, who is this person..."
Carlton Daniel's angry words were cut off when he saw Luann Weaver turn around, holding the roses.
Gulp—
When Carlton Daniel saw Luann Weaver's stunning face, all his anger vanished.
"I apologize, this young lady, the person who arranged the flower delivery made a mistake, causing a misunderstanding."
"For our first meeting, let's consider these flowers as a gift to you!"
Carlton Daniel smiled gracefully.
Little did he know, this scene was observed by a group of people walking on the opposite side of the street.
"Alisha, isn't that your husband?"
"Yeah, what's he doing with Luann Weaver?"
"Why is Luann Weaver holding roses? Isn't today your anniversary? What is Luann Weaver trying to do! Is she trying to seduce your husband?"
"Have you guys not heard Miss Weaver Er say that Luann Weaver is cunning? She dared to seduce our boss, so what else is she not capable of doing?"
"Perhaps she is jealous of Alisha and wants a diamond necklace too!"
Alisha Mullen's face was clearly displeased, but she held it in.
Luann Weaver decisively refused, "No need, you can have it back."
"There’s no need to be so polite with me, Miss."
Having been with Alisha Mullen for so long, Carlton Daniel knew what women liked.
"Later, I'll send another one to my wife."
After saying that, Carlton Daniel left.
Luann Weaver looked expressionless at the rose in her arms, without hesitation, she threw it into the trash can next to her and walked into the company.
"Alisha! Look at her! She's too much!"
"She's just playing hard to get, Luann Weaver is quite clever."
Alisha Mullen forced a smile, "Stop guessing, I trust my husband."
"Alisha, what man can say no to a woman who comes to his doorstep?"
"Moreover, Luann Weaver is so beautiful..."
The entire afternoon, Alisha Mullens' mind was filled with the words of those people, and she occasionally glanced over at Luann Weaver.
It must be said that Luann Weaver was truly the most beautiful and threatening woman she had ever seen.
Just sitting there quietly, she didn't need to say or do anything, she could attract the attention of many men.
"Manager, this is last month's sales report."
Alisha Mullen snapped back to reality and reached out to take it.
The other person exclaimed, "Alisha, where is your necklace on your neck?"
Alisha Mullen hurriedly touched it and realized it was gone!
"Did it fall to the ground?"
"Help me look for it!"
Everyone around heard Alisha Mullen's words and laughed.
"At lunch, Alisha's necklace was still there!"
"Could it have been stolen?"
Everyone turned their gaze towards Luann Weaver.
Luann Weaver lifted her cold black eyes and met their gazes.
Sitting next to her, Edna Barker, who had confronted her about the lunch box incident in the morning, immediately asked the question that was on everyone's mind.
"Luann Weaver! Did you steal Alisha's necklace?"
Luann Weaver asked calmly, "Do you have any evidence?"
"Evidence? Ha, search her and you'll find evidence!" Edna Barker stared at her bag placed on the table, her gaze intense. "What thief would admit to stealing someone else's things?"
"Especially since you came here.”
"A rural person coming out from the countryside is the dirtiest!"
"If they see something they like, they just take it without asking, and it's not impossible!"
Luann Weaver's gaze darkened inch by inch, "Please watch your words."
"What I said is the truth!"
"Luann Weaver, if you didn't do this, why are you afraid of my proposal?"
"It's obviously you who feel guilty!"
Edna Barker's tone was strong and determined, firmly believing that Luann Weaver was the thief.
"You have no right to touch my things." Luann Weaver emphasized each word.
A male employee who couldn't bear it spoke up to mediate.
"Edna Barker, let it go, let the police handle this."
"That's right, we're all colleagues, why make it so tense?"
Edna Barker lifted her chin, determined to regain her morning dignity.
"I did go through it today, let's see what you can do to me!"
After saying that, she grabbed Luann Weaver's canvas bag and poured everything onto the ground with a loud crash!
A shiny diamond necklace, exactly like Alisha Mullen's, lay quietly among the pile of things!
Edna Barker shouted excitedly, "Luann Weaver, you are indeed a thief!"
