Chapter 115 You Can't Win

Alvin's words made Luann feel even more uneasy.

"Sister-in-law, your face seems even redder. Let me check if there's something to drink in the fridge."

Alvin got up and searched, then brought back two bottles of chilled beverages.

But Myron intercepted them.

Alvin awkwardly wiped off the nonexistent sweat on his forehead. "Bro, I was just getting a drink for your wife. No need to get jealous..."

Ignoring him, Myron turned his head to Luann and stared at her with his deep and probing eyes.

His scorching gaze seemed to ignite a spark.

Just before Luann could no longer hold it together, Myron finally spoke.

"Don't drink anything cold."

"Why?" Luann asked, confused.

Without saying a word, Myron stood up and poured her a glass of warm water, handing it to her.

"It's been a month."

"Huh?"

Luann took it absentmindedly, not understanding the meaning behind his words.
"You've been married to me for a month now."

"It's about time for our relatives to come visit, right?"

Luann, realizing it a little late, placed her cup on the table like a hot potato and mumbled an unclear response.

Alvin scratched his head in confusion and foolishly asked, "Brother, are there still relatives from the Weaver Family coming?"

Eddy, lying on the ground to relieve the pain, rolled his eyes.

Holly walked back from a distance, stepped over Eddy, and kicked him again.

"Get up, stop playing dead."

"I can't move the mahjong table alone, help me out."

Eddy forced a smile as sweat trickled down his forehead.

"Are you sure I can help you carry things now?"

Holly smiled, shrugging her shoulders. "Then I'll ask Alvin for help."

Eddy immediately got up.

The two of them struggled to bring the mahjong table over.

"We have five people, and since you're not feeling well, it'll be just the four of us playing, alright?"

Holly promptly excluded Eddy.

Eddy laughed in frustration, "So, I'm just a tool, huh?"

Alvin excitedly rubbed his hands together and said, "Come on, let's play a game. I have such good luck that today I'll make you all lose your pants!"

"Really?" Holly looked at him suspiciously.

Alvin proudly lifted his chin.

"Don't believe me? Ask my brother, I win the most every year during New Year!"

"Last year, I won three shops, two houses, and eight sports cars!"
"Wow, you guys play with such high stakes?" Holly clicked her tongue.

"Scared?" Alvin smirked, provokingly.

Holly instinctively glanced at Luann and trembled slightly, "Let's just play for a few dollars. I'm a bit tight on cash lately..."

"Tsk!" Alvin disdainfully shook his head. "Then you just stand aside and let Eddy step in!"

Holly gladly complied, giving up her spot and helping Eddy up.

"In that case, let him play. Don't regret it later," Luann said, not fully comprehending the underlying meaning of her words.

With excitement shining in his eyes, Alvin slapped a piece of paper on the table and started writing with a pen.

"Place your bets! Bring out all your chips!"

Eddy took a sip of his drink and reluctantly spoke, "A three-bedroom apartment in the city center."

Alvin smirked maliciously, "Eddy, are you afraid of losing to me? That's why you're using such small chips?"

"I'll bet the latest car I arrived in, worth 10 million."

"Brother, sister-in-law, what about you?"

Alvin's eyes gleamed with greed.

He knew Myron was thriving.

If only Myron didn't always say he didn't know how to play and never participated.

Today was the perfect opportunity to bleed him dry!

Luann calmly said, "I'll pass, let Holly play. I'm not very good at it."

Alvin, upon hearing this, became even more gleeful.

Oh, this is good!

He loved bullying people who didn't know how to play!

"Don't do that, sister-in-law, don't back out at the last moment

"I can't escape."

"I can teach you if you don't know how to play!"

"I'm really good at this, I'll definitely let you win."

Isn't this game basically free money falling from the sky onto his head?

Two inexperienced players, plus Eddy, who's only half-decent at it.

He's sure to win!

Myron responded casually, "Then I'll bet the house."

"As for Luann's share, consider it on me."

Alvin immediately frowned, "Brother, don't be unfair."

Luann pondered for a moment and pulled out a bank card, saying, "If I lose, it's yours."

"Tsk..." Alvin looked contemptuous, "You are really stingy. How much money can there be in one card?"

"It can buy you three cars."

Alvin quickly wrote down Luann's bet.

With the crisp sound of mahjong tiles colliding, the start of the first round was announced.

Holly opened a bag of potato chips and stood by, looking at the three of them with a pitiful gaze.

"Poor things, truly pitiful."

Alvin spoke with enthusiasm, excitedly explaining the rules of mahjong, vividly describing it with red cheeks.

"Luann, do you understand?"

Luann gestured an OK sign to him.

"East wind."

"White dragon."

"Nine of characters."

"Chow." Luann calmly spoke.

Alvin laughed happily, "Sister-in-law, you catch on quickly! Seems like you have a talent for this!"

Luann politely curved her lips.

"Two of bamboos."

"Kong."

Alvin blinked in surprise, watching Luann proficiently arrange her tiles, and a sense of foreboding inexplicably arose in his heart.

"Sister-in-law, you're amazing! Looks like your tiles are pretty good."

Myron raised his eyes nonchalantly, his clear gaze fixated on her.

Just then, Luann seemed to sense something, her pure eyes gently lifted.

Their eyes met.

Myron casually played a tile.

Luann calmly said, "I've won."

Alvin "???"

He looked incredulously at Luann's tiles, his whole face expressing shock.

This this this...

It's completely different from what he had imagined!

Luann smiled lightly, "Thank you for going easy on me."

Alvin snapped back to reality, pretending not to care as he waved his hand, though his smile seemed a bit forced.

"No big deal, winning the first round means you already know how to play."

"Sister-in-law, I won't go easy on you anymore."

Luann nodded with a smile that may or may not have been genuine.

"Alright."

After writing down new bets, the four of them started again.

Holly eagerly moved a chair next to Eddy and looked at his tiles, softly saying, "Bet a smaller amount on the next round."

Eddy raised an eyebrow, supremely confident. "Why?"

"Because you won't win."

"I'm really good at this game, once I win a sports car, I'll sell it and use the money to treat you to crayfish."

Holly looked at Luann's serene expression and gently shook her head.

"No chance."

"Oh?"

"No”

"You just wait and see."

With those words, Luann pushed aside the tiles in front of her once again.

"Thirteen wonders, I've won."

Alvin's tiles fell to the ground with a loud thud.
