Chapter 99 The Owner of the Cufflinks

With the matter settled, the family ate their meal peacefully, with only occasional sounds of chopsticks clinking against bowls and plates.

Diana received a phone call halfway through her meal, saying that there was some business at the company that required her immediate attention.

Watson promptly said, "I'll go with you."
"In-laws, enjoy your meal. We'll chat next time."

"Myron, make sure you accompany them well."

Myron responded with a faint "Mhm."

As soon as Diana and Watson left, Luann wiped her lips and spoke without a change in her expression, "I'm going to the restroom."

She left the private room and walked to the staircase on the second floor, glancing down through a window.

She saw Diana and Watson parting ways, each getting into their own cars and heading to different places.

Five minutes later, Luann returned.

Mike Weaver happily chatted with Myron, saying, "Young master, Luann is now entrusted to you. You must take good care of her and also help support our Weaver Family, since we are now family."

Luann's eyelid twitched, and she could already guess what he would say next.

Without limping, she stepped forward and grabbed Myron's hand, coldly saying to Mike Weaver, "Rest assured, my husband takes very good care of me. He definitely won't be like some people who say one thing to my face and another behind my back."

"Let's go home."

Feeling the soft warmth in her palm, Myron murmured in response and immediately stood up to follow.

During the journey back, Luann's phone kept buzzing with messages from Mike Weaver full of anger.

"You ungrateful girl! You want to see the downfall of the Weaver Family, don't you?"

"He's your husband now, so what's wrong with asking him for some money?"

Luann showed no reaction to this and simply deleted the messages, completely unaffected.

She turned to Myron and said, "Don't give my father a single penny."

Myron knew exactly why but asked anyway, "Why?"

"I've suffered damage to my appearance, yet I married such a good-looking woman. I'm sure your father isn't pleased about that."

"I think I should do something to win over my father-in-law and mother-in-law, right?"

Luann's tone was firm.

"I said no, so no!"

Myron leaned against the back of his chair, his cold gaze concealing a deep tenderness.

"Are you trying to negotiate with me?" Luann's face darkened slightly. "Or is it that you have too much money and need to involve some factors to be happy?"

"You guessed it. Right now, I'm just..."

"The most important thing is money," Luann's eyes widened, and her red lips slightly pouted, seemingly annoyed by him.

The two locked eyes, maintaining their standoff for about half a minute.

Luann's slim shoulders slumped first, conceding defeat.

"So, what do you want?" she asked.

Myron had been waiting for this moment, and he subtly licked his thin lips.

Instinctively, Luann leaned back slightly. "What for?"

"Give me a kiss, and I'll agree," Myron replied.

Luann's cheeks blushed, and she quickly kissed him on the lips.

"Is that enough?" she asked.

Myron chuckled softly. "That doesn't count. It's too perfunctory, isn't it?"

Gritting her teeth, Luann took a deep breath and kissed him slowly.

This time, she deliberately lingered for two or three seconds.

But as she was about to pull away, she heard a faint sound.

She glanced sideways.

Surprisingly, Myron had raised the divider between the front and back seats, creating a secluded space where no one could hear or see what was happening.

"Myron, you..." she began, but before she could finish her sentence, Myron grabbed the back of her head with his large hand.

Their kiss deepened instantly.

The temperature around them rose rapidly, as if it were swallowing all the air.

He claimed her breath little by little, leaving no space unoccupied.

Luann's head became dizzy.

The seat was lowered.

She was trapped in his embrace.

The untimely sound of a ringing phone interrupted them.

Luann suddenly woke up.

She forcefully grabbed Myron's sleeve.

There was a tearing sound.

"I... I have to answer the call," she stammered.

Taking the opportunity, Luann escaped from his embrace and felt relieved when she saw that it was Holly calling.

Thank goodness, the timing of the call was perfect!

Otherwise, things might have gotten out of hand!

Myron returned to his original position, appearing calm and composed, as he lowered his eyes and fixed his torn sleeve cuff.

Only he knew that his heart was shouting frantically, with impulses and rationality battling to subdue the woman in front of him.

"Ah? Myron?" Luann listened to Holly's words, turned her head, and glanced at Myron. "Got it."

After hanging up the phone, she put down the divider.
"Eddy said he has something to discuss with you. He couldn't reach you," Luann considerately said.

"Hmm."

When Myron left, Luann let out a complete sigh of relief and slumped in the chair, as if she had just regained half of her life.

"Madam, we have arrived," John said.

Luann finally snapped out of it.

John opened the car door and smiled gently at her.

As Luann took a step to the side, she seemed to step on something.

She lowered her head and saw a shining, delicate cufflink.

"Could it be the one I just tore off?" she wondered.

Luann picked it up.

Upon seeing this, John chuckled and said, "Isn't this the young masters?"

Luann's voice sounded somewhat guilty. "I should..."

"Let me handle it, Miss. I will put it in the cufflink box so that the young master won't have trouble finding it when he comes back."

"I can help him with that," Luann said with a smile.

"Alright."

After John's talk, Luann learned that Myron enjoyed collecting cufflinks. Each pair was neatly arranged and kept in a large storage box.

When Luann opened it, she was astonished by the dazzling scene before her.

"It's not just this box, there are several more."

John, as if presenting treasures, brought out several large storage boxes and opened each one.

Luann couldn't help but exclaim, "This is probably similar to how girls like to collect lipsticks and beautiful clothes."

As she marveled, she carefully placed the cufflinks back.

Just as she was about to close the lid, she noticed a small blue brocade box lying quietly in the corner, which stood out among the cufflinks displayed openly.

"What is this?"

Luann picked it up.

John glanced casually and explained, "Oh, that one, that one is the young master's favorite. He bought it at a high price at an auction abroad years ago. Unfortunately, one of them went missing at some point."

A faint clicking sound followed.

The familiar cufflinks lay silently there, causing Luann's pupils to shrink suddenly.

Her hand trembled, and with a snap, it fell to the ground.

John turned back at the sound. "Miss? What happened to you?"

Luann snapped back to reality and murmured, "It's nothing..."

This pair of cufflinks.

Looks so familiar.
