Chapter 288 Don't Mind Him

Alan was ignored twice in a row. His temper instantly flared.

He said, "Did you not hear what I said?"

"Is this how your family taught you?"

Holly lazily glanced at him and said, "Sorry, I'm an orphan."

"Luann Weaver is my sister. Insulting me is like insulting her. I'll let her know later."

Alan was momentarily speechless.

Sharon sighed and said, "Forget it, let the three of them sit together, let's go."

Alan gritted his teeth, knowing Eddy wasn't around; he went to the garage to drive, knowing Eddy wouldn't find out what he said.

He said, "Ms. Weiss, I don't actually oppose Eddy dating girls."

"But the condition is, the girl must have a clean background and meet certain moral standards."

"But from what I know, you often hang out in bars and nightclubs, playing with so many men."

"Forgive me for being blunt; our Nash family will never accept such a woman!"

Holly looked at him. Then she smiled suddenly, asking, "Are you discriminating based on gender here?"

"It seems like you have different standards for treating others and your people."

"Eddy is your son; you know very well what kind of person he is."

"Please go out and inquire, ask how many bars he's been to, how many girlfriends he's had."

"I don't mind him; I've already given him enough dignity."

Alan angrily opened his mouth but couldn't come up with any rebuttal.

Ann spoke up in time, "Ms. Weiss, men and women are not the same."

"They are all human; what's the difference?" Holly's gaze was sharp.

Ann furrowed her brows lightly, about to speak, when Eddy drove up.

Sharon sighed, pulling Alan into the car.

"Look at what she's saying!" Alan said.

Sharon said, "This is Eddy's own business; let's not get involved. Let's go."

Eddy didn't know what had just happened; he opened the car door, sat in the driver's seat, and said with a smile, "Holly, get in."

Before Holly could touch the car door, Ann preempted her and said, "Ms. Weiss, I've never been in good health; I get carsick; I need to sit in the front."

"Could you bear with it and sit in the back?"

She looked sincere as if she didn't want to ruin their relationship.

Half true, half false; for a moment, Holly didn't know if it was the truth.

Holly tilted her head and asked, "Carsick? Don't you usually drive?"

Ann said, "I do."

Holly went to the driver's seat and kicked the door, saying, "Get out."

Eddy immediately got out of the car.

Holly said, "Let's sit in the back."

"Let Ann drive; the driver doesn't get carsick, right, Ann?"

Ann's eyelid twitched, her face calm. She smiled faintly and nodded, saying, "Thank you for your concern, Ms. Weiss."

Holly pulled Eddy into the car.

After sitting down, she sighed softly and said, "A free driver, not bad at all."

Eddy whispered, "You're the smartest."

Holly took out her phone and snorted lightly, "Let me ask Luann where they are."

Holly: [Have you left yet?]

Luann: [Not yet, getting ready to go.]

Holly: [You guys are so slow.]

Luann: [Myron had something come up suddenly; he said he's not coming. I overslept from my nap and just woke up.]

Holly: [Should I come pick you up?]

Luann: [No need. I'll go to the old house in a while and share a ride with the Curtis family.]

Holly: [Alright, be safe on the way, contact me when you arrive!]

Luann put down her phone, took the car keys, and headed out. She found a car parked outside.

"Joshua?" Luann said.

"I'm just passing by. Do you want to go together?" Joshua asked.

Luann raised an eyebrow, opened the car door, and got in. She consciously sat in the back seat, not the front passenger seat.

Joshua said, "Isn't this a bit much? It's like I'm your driver."

Luann smiled lightly, "Is this a hypocritical gesture?"

"No, it's just been a while; I wanted to see how you've been lately. Have you been upset or in pain because of company matters?"

"Facing difficulties?" Luann asked directly.

Joshua looked back at her and asked, "How did you know?"

"Otherwise, you wouldn't have come to me."

There must be some problem she couldn't solve and didn't want to ask others about.

"It's not a big deal, actually," Joshua told her the situation and asked Luann to help him make a decision.

After Luann finished speaking, Joshua fell into thought.

"Sometimes I have this feeling, although I don't want to admit it, but I have to say, the position of Design Director is beneath you," Joshua said somewhat enviously.

With Luann's abilities, she could handle it on her own.

"Thank you, let's go," Luann said.

The North family had arranged to meet at the largest event venue on the Upper West Side, which could accommodate thousands of people.

When they arrived, the parking lot outside were full, so they had to park in the underground parking garage.

"What is the North family up to, inviting so many unknown and unremarkable people." Joshua couldn't help but complain, "Letting all kinds of people in, without considering that we upper-class people are not easily seen by them."

Innate superiority made Joshua very dissatisfied with today's scene.

What was supposed to be a high-class gathering turned into a company dinner.

The crowded people and smells carried a palpable tension.

"Let's go up first." Luann got out of the car and headed towards the elevator.

The elevator doors opened.

There were many people in formal attire outside.

When they saw Luann and Joshua, they were so shocked that they covered their mouths.

It was when they walked past.

"Oh my, it's the Curtis family!"
"Luann!"
"Is that Joshua? So handsome!"
"You all look like you've been living under a stone or what. Calm down! Don't make a spectacle of yourselves!"
"What's so funny? Look over there; there are people taking pictures!"
"I've never been to such a high-end place in my life!"
"I heard a small piece of cake on the table costs a hundred dollars! I need to eat more!"
"It's strange; the North family is making big moves. I just saw a dozen reporters come in."

Luann entered the lobby, where the air was circulating and the temperature was low.

Dozens of cameras were set up in various corners, and the screen on the stage displayed award-winning photos of Peter North. He looked very imposing.

At the same time, many viewers had already opened the live stream. They all discussed in the comments section.

[Isn't Luann here?]

[Yeah, what place is this? Is it a new event Luann is attending?]
