Chapter 98 Achieving the Goal
The woman's light fragrance lingered in the air.
Wilber looked guilty and was about to speak when Eddy added, "Why are you wiping his sweat? I thought you hated doing that sort of thing?"
Faced with such a perfect assist, Holly calmly replied, "Oh, Mr. Gilbert is not a stranger."
Upon hearing this, Wilber felt as if he had been injected with chicken blood, suddenly filled with energy.
No more back pain.
No more leg pain.
Even paying the bill became easier!
He completely missed the triumphant look Holly exchanged with Eddy.
After finally finishing their shopping, it was already 5 p.m.
By the time they reached the office building, Wilber had fallen asleep from exhaustion.
"Mr. Gilbert?"
Holly gently patted his shoulder.
Wilber regained his senses, quickly getting up. "We're here, thank you."
"I should thank you for accompanying me this afternoon. Let's stay in touch and arrange for another day."
"Okay."
As Wilber left, Eddy got out of the car and walked up to Holly, pulling her out.
"Old man, what are you doing?"
"Get into my car. Yours is dirty, I'll have someone come and tow it away for a valet."
Holly nodded approvingly and got into his car without hesitation.
The car window closed, shutting out all external sounds.
Eddy turned on some leisurely music, started the car, and casually asked, "You scratched my car, how do you plan to compensate me?"
Holly looked at him, puzzled.
"Aren't we already even?"
"Do you think I'm just joking, bro?"
"Besides, for such a small amount of money, why don't you ask Luann?"
Eddy sighed heavily, "How many times do I have to explain? I have nothing to do with Luann."
"Alright, understood. Drop me off at the corner ahead."
"What are you going to do?"
"I'm going to the bar to find a guy!"
...
As Luann finished work and left the company, she noticed Myron's car parked by the roadside.
She walked over and got in.
The driver started the car, but they weren't heading home.
"Where are we going?" Luann asked, puzzled.
"Just meeting with someone." Myron replied coolly, seemingly unenthusiastic.
"Oh."
Luann lowered her brows and started playing with her phone.
Inside the private room at The Vintage Mirror, conversation could be heard.
Mike Weaver held his phone and asked his daughter, "When are you coming over?"
Juliet's voice sounded chaotic.
"I can't come today. The crew won't let me go. We haven't finished shooting that scene yet."
"Besides, I don't care about the Curtis family. I don't want to see Myron's disfigured face!"
Juliet’s gentle tone turned slightly stern.
"Juliet, no matter what, he is still your brother-in-law."
"And today is the first time our families are meeting. Get time off from the crew."
Juliet angrily growled on the other end of the line.
"Take time off?"
"If I forcefully leave, it'll be a breach of contract!"
"Besides, I haven't had a role to play for a long time. I finally signed with a crew, playing the fourth female lead, and now you want to block my way!"
Mike Weaver forcefully pulled Brianna's hand away.
"Your mother doesn't understand these things. Don't get angry with her."
"If you don't want to come, then don't. It saves me from having to see Luann."
Juliet made a noise of agreement.
"Oh, by the way, Dad, quickly tell the Curtis family that Luann is still with Wilber's company!"
"She's already married to Myron, why is she still lingering there?"
"She even negotiated a collaboration this time with Wilber. What is she trying to do?"
"Isn't it obvious that she still wants to rekindle things with Wilber?"
Mike Weaver immediately consoled, "I know, I will definitely tell them later. Just focus on your acting."
"Alright, I'm hanging up."
Beep beep beep
Brianna looked at Mike Weaver's troubled expression and couldn't help speaking up.
"I don't think we should let Luann work at the Curtis Group."
"Myron doesn't have any real power in the Curtis family now. If Luann goes to work there, no one will protect her."
"What if she gets mistreated?"
Mike Weaver's face was serious as he impatiently waved his hand.
"Enough, I'll handle this.”
Creak
The door to the private room was pushed open, and two well-dressed individuals entered.
Diana wore a simple and understated long dress, with a dignified appearance. She didn't adorn herself with any gold jewelry, only a minimalist watch on her wrist.
Watson wore a tailored suit, his hair neatly combed, and his stern face exuded a certain level of authority.
"Father."
Upon meeting, the parents on both sides immediately exchanged pleasantries and shook hands.
Diana wasn't much of a talker, so after introducing herself, she sat quietly to the side.
Watson, on the other hand, engaged in a lively conversation with Mike Weaver.
"I wonder when the young ones will arrive." Mike Weaver chuckled.
At that moment, Myron's car stopped.
Myron got out to buy something and came back with it for Luann to eat.
"Hmm?"
"Eat some more."
Just in case she lost her appetite upon seeing someone she didn't like later.
"Okay."
Following Myron's instructions, the driver drove slowly.
By the time they arrived at their destination, it had already been half an hour.
They entered the private room and called for their parents, then sat in silence together.
Diana raised her hand and pressed the bell, signaling for the meal to be served.
Watson was the first to speak.
"Luann, have you been doing well at home?"
"There are too many people living in the main residence, so Myron moved out a long time ago. Otherwise, you could have stayed there."
Luann smiled lightly, her eyes showing no ripples of emotion.
"It's also nice to live with Grandma."
Watson laughed heartily. "That's good. Just let us know if you need anything."
"My mom and I are both busy with work, and there are many things we can't take care of."
Diana silently took a sip of tea.
"Alright."
Mike Weaver seized the opportunity to join the conversation.
"Speaking of work, Luann, are you still working at your previous place?"
Luann glanced up, her voice clear and composed.
"What's the matter? Any problem with that?"
Being openly retorted by Luann, Mike Weaver couldn't keep his composure.
He scolded lightly, "You, girl, can't argue logically or emotionally."
"Now that you're married to the young master, you are a member of the Curtis family. Why are you still working outside?"
Luann stared at him with a smirk, her brows revealing an icy coldness. Her fingertips lightly tapped on the teacup.
"When I wasn't married yet, why didn't you consider me a member of the Weaver Family and let me intern at the Su Corporation?"
"..."
"Besides, I think my job is fine, and there's no need to change." Luann said.
Brianna softly added, "Yes, Luann isn't someone who likes to compete. There's no need for her to go to the Curtis Corporation."
Myron frowned deeply.
He was fully aware of Luann helping Wilber get the contract.
Presumably, Luann's parents had heard something.
And as expected, Watson said, "The in-laws make a valid point. Luann is already a part of the Curtis family and should work at the Curtis Group."
"Luann, I'll arrange a position for you later. You better work hard."
A barely noticeable smile formed at the corner of Luann's lips.
...
