Chapter 253 She is the Light

Williams was slightly startled.

Then he gently stroked her hair.

Soft.

Holly stood by, staring blankly, her eyes revealing a trace of envy.

However, a voice that spoiled the atmosphere sounded from above.

"Give it up, are you here to help?"

"Big brother, don't forget that sunshine is the most favored in our family. Even with your biological son’s status, you have to step aside, right?

"Could you get the family head to hold a birthday banquet for you?

"Could you get the family head to go out in the middle of the night to buy you fruit?

"Could you sit on the family head's arm?

"Would you dare to speak rudely to the family head?"

Williams raised his head, his face expressionless.

"Are you getting angry with what I said?" Adolph laughed arrogantly.

Williams suddenly grabbed him.

Adolph's body immediately spun rapidly in mid-air.

"I f*****g...

"Stop...

"I'm going to vomit..."

Williams ignored him and gently said to Luann, "You said you wanted to see lavender last time, right? I had specially had some planted in the backyard. Do you want to go take a look?"

Luann nodded, "Okay."

Adolph struggled, "Luann...help..."

Luann looked at him expressionlessly.

"You can go ask the girl next door for help, didn't you just give her a bow and diamonds?"

Adolph spat blood, "You hold grudges...you hold grudges too much..."

He just thought the dress Luann was going to wear for her birthday party looked good, so he cut off some diamonds and put them on it, didn't he?

He did make up for it!

That day, he even ran more than ten kilometers to find a very similar dress!

Williams held Luann's little hand and led her away.

Adolph felt dizzy, but after spinning countless times, he finally calmed down.
His stomach was churning, and if he hadn't forced himself, he would have probably thrown up on the floor.

"It finally stopped..."

Adolph let out a long breath, his face pale.

Holly stood there watching him.

Adolph frowned.

"What are you looking at?"

"You've been here the whole time?"

"Why didn't you help me here?"

"Oh, my stomach feels so uncomfortable..."

Holly bit her lip and asked, "Why did you lie to me?"

"What did I lie to you about?"

"One plus one equals two, not seven. I'm a smart kid, not a fool," Holly emphasized.

Adolph chuckled.

"Only fools would believe that one plus one equals seven."

Holly frowned.

"You're so annoying."

Adolph put his hands behind his head, looking extremely relaxed.

"So, what if I'm annoying?"

"We're going to see each other every day for the next period of time."

Holly reached out her hand toward him.

"I think, in order for us to get along well in the future, we should settle all our accounts today..."

Adolph frowned, "What do you mean?"

The next second—

"Oh, damn it! Stop! Stop..."
Adolph's body entered high-speed rotation again.

After three hours, he was let down and collapsed the moment his feet touched the ground.
Williams ignored him and stepped over him directly.

Adolph gritted his teeth, "If I don't grow tall in the future, I'll blame you."

"How childish."

"You're not childish for stepping over me?"

Williams looked at him, "So are you still coming over for dinner?"

Adolph struggled to get up from the ground and slumped weakly in the chair.

He looked pitifully at Luann, "Baby sister, I want porridge."

Luann responded with an ‘oh’ and placed the porridge in front of him.

"I want baby sister to feed me!"

Williams picked up a spoon, "I'll feed you."

"Go away, I don't want you, a big rough gentleman, to feed me. You'll make me lose my appetite."
Luann tugged at her stiff mouth.

A meal finally ended amidst noisy quarrels.

It was already dark outside.

Adolph went back to rest early because he wasn't feeling well.

Luann stood outside her own bedroom door, watching the maid make her bed and add an extra pillow.
Holly and Luann will be sleeping together today, and Holly's bedroom won't be cleaned up until tomorrow.

Holly nodded and said, "Okay, thank you."

"You're welcome."

Holly walked over and found Luann moving a brown teddy bear around.

Luann always slept alone, and the teddy bear would accompany her.

Suddenly, there was someone else, and for a moment, she didn't know where to put this little companion.

"Let's put it in the middle," Holly timidly suggested, afraid that Luann might not agree, "Can we both hold it together?"

Luann stared at her for a moment, then nodded, "Okay."

The two lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling, but neither of them could fall asleep.
Holly snuggled under the comfortable blanket and couldn't help but rub her face.

Would she never have to worry about not having a bed to sleep in or food to eat again?

"Luann, thank you."

Holly turned her body and gazed at Luann's breathtakingly beautiful face, unable to help but murmur.

Luann faced her, somewhat puzzled.

"Why are you thanking me?"

Holly bit her lip, "Because you are the first person willing to be my friend, and the first person... to take me away."

She had been to the welfare institution and had seen many children being chosen and taken away.
They were sweet-talkers and spoke well, so many people liked them.

But she was always dirty and thin, looking very sickly.
She was always the one who was despised.

She had never imagined that one day, she would also be taken away by someone.
Luann reached out and carefully brushed her hair.

She gently curved her lips, her smile so gentle, and her pair of black eyes filled with warmth, as if they contained a starry galaxy or a bright moon in the sky.

"Well, I'm the same as you."

"You are also the first person willing to be my friend."

Holly froze.

Luann embraced her.

The warm embrace made Holly uncontrollably burst into tears.

Luann gently patted her back and soothingly said, "Don't be sad, this place will be your home from now on, and I will be your family."

"Okay..."

Holly quickly cried herself to exhaustion and fell asleep in a daze.
Luann carefully turned off the light.

At the moment when the light went out, Holly suddenly woke up in a panic.

She looked around at the endless darkness, feeling indescribably frightened.

However, a warm hand held hers.
At that moment, all of Holly's panic was dispersed.

She turned her head and faintly made out the silhouette of the girl named Luann in the darkness.

She was her light.
As long as she was there.
She would no longer be afraid.
