Chapter 353 Infertility
DINK meant a couple who decided not to have kids, either by choice or circumstance.
Luann stayed quiet for a bit, then patted Myron on theshoulder. "You know, infertility can be treated."
Myron looked skeptical. "What?"
Luann coughed and spilled the beans about Eddy.
"When Eddy visited you this morning, I figured it out. He mentioned you had some health issues and went to the hospital. Then he brought up DINK, so I guessed it was confirmed. But don't lose hope. I've seen cases where meds help. So treatment isn't impossible."
Myron's mouth twitched, and his forehead veins throbbed. Damn Eddy! What nonsense did he say?
"Luann, I'm perfectly healthy," Myron said firmly. Luann nodded. "Of course, you're very healthy."
She knew men's pride was strong, and this would embarrass Myron. "Anyway, we're not in a rush."
"Not in a rush for what?!" a voice suddenly shouted.
Luann and Myron turned to see Anna storming over, almost tripping in her anger.
Pointing at Myron, she yelled, "You can't have kids?"
Myron paused. "I couldn't from the start."
"No! I mean, you really can't have kids?" Anna's voice rose, and she was shocked and angry.
Anna desperately wanted a great-grandchild. She had made Myron take so many supplements after he got married! But it was all for nothing?
Luann quickly said, "Grandma, don't worry. Medical science is advanced now! It can be treated."
Anna's hands trembled with fury and disappointment. "If I had known, I wouldn't have let Luann marry you! Such great genes are wasted. It breaks my heart!"
Myron felt the misunderstanding deepening. "Grandma, I'm really fine. I just went to the hospital..."
"Enough," Anna interrupted. "Eddy called me. He's your best friend. Would he lie?"
Myron countered, "When has he ever told the truth?"
"You useless jerk!" Anna threw a cushion at Myron. "Go cook! All you do is eat and nothing else!"
For a moment, Myron felt like he was the one married off, but he was happy to serve Luann. So he went to cook.
Meanwhile, Anna held Luann's hand, tears streaming. "Luann, I'm so sorry. I've wasted such a good person like you. Who knew Myron would be so disappointing?"
Luann awkwardly said, "It's okay, Grandma."
"Don't worry. Even if we have to try every medicine, I'll make sure he gets better! Just wait for my good news!"
Anna turned to John. "John, contact renowned doctors for advice!"
"Okay."
After they left, Luann walked into the kitchen.
"I didn't know Grandma was there earlier."
Myron, chopping veggies in an apron, replied, "It's okay."
Luann asked, "So you really..."
"Yes, really."
This time, Myron didn't deny it. Admitting it would make Luann think he had a health issue and couldn't have kids, sparing her the pain. The pain was indescribable, like his stomach being cut open. Even with his high pain tolerance, it was unbearable. Luann, who bruised easily, would suffer even more.
Luann patted him on the shoulder. "It's okay. We can always adopt."
"I don't want to talk about kids right now."
Luann nodded. "I understand."
She decided to avoid the topic. Soon, Myron finished cooking. His culinary skills had improved, and the food wasn't bad. Luann ate appreciatively. After eating, they cuddled on the sofa to watch TV, feeling cozy.
In the Chairman's Office at Curtis Group Headquarters, Vito looked grim, staring at the documents.
"It's been so long, and you still haven't found the mole?"
The shareholders stayed silent.
"Answer me!"
Someone finally said, "It's clearly targeting Luann. Whenever it involves her, the other party causes trouble."
Vito was about to speak when there was a knock on the door. An employee walked in, looking uneasy. "Mr. Curtis, Joshua made a mistake."
It was the same trick. After completing a deal, Joshua returned, and the contract had been swapped without his knowledge, almost signing the wrong agreement. If Luann hadn't been out of the office, Joshua might have thought she did it on purpose.
Vito was silent for a long time, then looked at Joshua. "What do you think I should do with you now?"
Joshua opened his mouth but couldn't speak.
Vito thought for a moment. "Alright, I'll call Luann. You two can work together. There's a company under Curtis Group that needs a general manager. You two can go there."
"Huh?" Joshua was stunned. "Which company?"
"Aspire Securities."
"Aspire Securities?" Joshua jumped up.
Aspire Securities was a small, struggling securities company under Curtis Group, dealing with finance, mainly investment and financing. It had been losing money terribly, shrinking from an entire building to one floor, then to a single room. There were only twenty or thirty employees left.
Now, Vito wanted to hand Aspire Securities over to him and Luann, which felt like a dead-end.
