Chapter 361 No Right to Speak
After talking with Vito, Watson rushed upstairs but found the bedroom he shared with Diana locked. "Open the door!" he shouted.
Diana slowly opened it. "Need something?"
Watson barged in and shut the door.
Lowering his voice but still angry, he said, "What did you tell Dad? Do you love tattling that much? What are you, a child? Do you really need to tell them about us?"
Diana nodded. "If you're so confident, why not bring your lover here and let her sleep here? Wouldn't that be great?"
"You..." Watson was too angry to speak.
"Watson, don't forget, you begged me not to make our divorce public. Push me, and I'll expose everything about you. Let's see who ends up more embarrassed."
Watson fell silent, his arrogance deflating. "Diana, we've been married for years. Show me some mercy."
Diana laughed mockingly. "But today, in front of your lover, you showed me none. We agreed to make our divorce public when it's the time. From then on, no ties between us, and I wouldn't care about your scandals.
So, don't think I'm despicable. From start to finish, the one scheming for money, cheating, and having a child was you, not me. Now, get out of my room."
Diana's voice was calm, almost emotionless, but only she knew her heart was breaking. She had given so much to Watson over the years. It was impossible not to be sad.
But no matter how much it hurt, Diana didn't want to lose her dignity in front of Watson. That was why, when she discovered Watson's affair, she immediately filed for divorce without hesitation.
A tainted relationship was like dirty money. No matter how much you regreted it, you still didn't want to pick it up.
Watson was kicked out, looking dejected. "What's the big deal?"
On the busy roadside, a car was quietly parked.
Luann leaned back in her seat, with a small, delicate handbag on the passenger seat. It was found among the gifts Diana had brought, probably forgotten there.
Luann hurried to catch up, only to witness a good show, confirming her suspicions. The relationship between those two had long been broken, and they were already divorced. Besides, there was even a child involved.
Luann frowned slightly, tapping her fingers on the steering wheel. 'Could it be that Myron, at twenty-eight, would have a new sibling? It's surprising that someone of such advanced age would behave this way. It's hard to understand where Watson got the courage, not considering how awkward it would be for the entire Curtis Family, including Myron, if the mistress married in.'
The phone rang; it was Diana calling. After answering, she asked, "Luann, have you seen my handbag?"
Luann chuckled. "Of course, I've seen it."
The meaningful words left Diana silent for a long time. After a while, she said, "Don't get involved in this, and don't tell Myron. I'll handle it myself."
Luann replied, "Okay."
A thin layer of fog rose in the morning as the temperature dropped. Luann, wearing a light jacket, stood outside the Aspire Securities building, munching on a roasted sweet potato.
"Where'd you get that?" Joshua asked curiously as he arrived.
"From a street food stall," Luann replied, cheeks puffed up adorably.
Joshua awkwardly looked away, his ears turning red. "I'll go check it out."
Turning a corner, he found the stall. "Please give me a roasted sweet... What are you doing here?"
Joshua's words trailed off as he saw a dirty little beggar sitting by the stall. It was Hill.
"Are you following me?"
Hill glanced at him. "Fall and roasted sweet potatoes go well together."
The stall owner smiled kindly and handed Hill a freshly roasted sweet potato.
Joshua turned to leave. "Make him pay!" he ordered.
Taking a bite, Hill said, "Mm! Lovely!"
Upstairs, most employees had arrived.
At nine o'clock, the meeting began.
Someone spoke first. "So, after our discussion with Joshua last night, we believe this jewelry company isn't worth investing in. Luann, which company do you think is better to invest in?"
Logically, if the first company weren't viable, you'd go for the second one, which was normal.
Although Luann hadn't been involved in the discussion, it was still customary to ask her.
Unexpectedly, Luann didn't even look up and said, "I think the tenth company is good."
Everyone's mouths twitched. 'Seriously?' the thought. There were only ten companies in total, and the lower the ranking, the worse they were.
"This tenth company's stock has been falling since it went public. Yesterday, it hit rock bottom, and last month's sales were dismal. Investing in them is a sure failure."
Various discussions erupted.
"Yeah, we definitely can't invest in the tenth company. Let's go with the second one!"
"I also think the second one is good."
"Investing in the tenth company is speeding up our company's demise."
"Why don't we vote? How many are in favor of the real estate company?"
Only a few people didn't raise their hands.
"Luann, the minority should follow the majority. You should listen to us!"
Luann gave a half-smile. "Come on. Take my seat."
Seeing her say this, everyone hurried to explain.
"Luann, don't be mad. We're just thinking about the company's best interest."
"Yeah, you're new here, so it's normal not to know the details."
"Luann, we don't mean to take your position."
Luann put down her phone, tapping her fingers on the table. "Let me confirm, I'm the general manager of Aspire Securities, right?"
Everyone replied, "Yes."
Luann said, "So, does the general manager of Aspire Securities have no say?"
Everyone said, "It's not like that. You're new here, so you don't understand."
"Exactly, investing is a complex matter!"
"Luann, you should just play your games."
Luann, propping her chin with her hand, her expression turned serious. After a moment, she tilted her head slightly and smiled as if she didn't care. "Fine, let's go with your choice."
Everyone breathed a collective sigh of relief. After all, no one wanted to have a falling out with Luann.
However, Joshua, who had been silent the whole time, suddenly spoke, "I think Luann is right. Let's invest in the tenth company!"
