Chapter 298 Neglected

The venue for the Global Art Rankings Awards was located in the largest convention center in the city of L.

The security was tight, with guards lined up at the entrance, looking imposing.

The entire lobby was spacious, and cold air circulating through the four safety exits maintained the appropriate temperature throughout.

The scene was low-key yet luxurious, with white marble reflecting noble light.

A tall man standed there, occasionally pointing out things to the cleaning staff, saying, "You, there's a one-inch diameter piece of paper on the ground two feet to your left; pick it up quickly!"

"And you, there's a dirty spot on the tile one step in front of you, hurry up! Clean it!"

"The awards ceremony is the day after tomorrow, so pay attention, all of you!"

The elevator door suddenly opened, but no one came out.

The cleaning staff couldn't help but look curiously, only to find several men and women pushing each other, none willing to let the other go first.

"Let go!"
"No way!"
"If you keep this up, none of us can get out! Are you willing to take responsibility for delaying the important event? Can you afford it?"
"I don't care! I want to be the first to see Ms. Avoida; no one should compete with me!"
"Me too!"
"You bunch of jerks!"

A slightly petite woman squeezed through, smirking at them triumphantly.
"You guys can squeeze all you want; I'm going to see Ms. Avoida first for an autograph."
"Linda, come back here!"
"Damn it, stop that woman!"

The crowd rushed out noisily, but once outside the gate, they became very obedient.

They lined up in rows, standing as if waiting for school to be dismissed.

After some time, a Bugatti Veyron stopped not far away.

An older lady with gray hair got out of the car and waved to the people inside, saying, "Thank you for the ride."

"I've arrived."

"You're really a good person."

Luann smiled and said, "Take care."

As they were about to leave the airport, she received a call from Roy, but she didn't pay attention. She accidentally bumped into the old lady who was turning the corner and didn't see her.

Along the way, she brought the old lady along.

After closing the car door, Myron said, "Go to our place."

The driver smiled and said, "Alright, the awards venue is not far ahead."

"We'll get off too," Myron said.

"But I want some coffee." Luann looked eagerly at Myron.

Myron said decisively, "Navigate to the nearest coffee shop."

The driver said, "Okay."

The old lady walked unsteadily, her figure somewhat unsteady, praising incessantly, "There are really many kind people."

The people at the entrance couldn't help but speculate.

"Is that Ms. Avoida?"
"No way?"
"Roy said there was an old person on the phone; it must be her, right?"
"Yeah, that's a Bugatti Veyron, not something ordinary people can drive."
"It looks like it, and she's walking towards us!"
"Could it be true?"
"I'm so excited; let me prepare myself!"

With the nervous mental preparation of the crowd, the old lady finally walked up to them.

However, she didn't notice their emotions, her gaze fixed on a plastic bottle next to the trash can.

Before she could walk over, her hand was suddenly grabbed.

"Ms. Avoida! We've been waiting for you for a long time!"
"That's right! Welcome!"
"Oh my, it's been eleven years; I finally see you! Touching!"

The old lady was stunned for a moment, not reacting.

Then she said, "Are you guys..."

Before she could finish her puzzled question, she heard them shouting.

"Where's the wheelchair? I said we should prepare a wheelchair!"
"Hurry up, Ms. Avoida is old; it's hard for her to walk!"
"Here it is!"

They moved swiftly, guiding the bewildered old lady into a seat and towards the elevator before she could comprehend. As the elevator doors slid open, a spotless lounge greeted them. They pushed the old lady onto a comfortable ergonomic massage chair, bustling around to get water.

"Ms. Avoida, try this!"
"Ms. Avoida is worth billions; can she drink such cheap water? Hurry up and bring out the whiskey we've been saving for years!"

The old lady finally found an opportunity to speak, "Are you mistaking me for someone else?"

"No, how could we mistake you? Don't be modest!"

“I was wondering why you didn't come in the past few years, probably because of poor health, old age, and difficulty walking.”

"Can you speak? Ms. Avoida is in good health; she can easily live for decades!"
"You're laying it on a bit thick with the flattery."

The crowd bombarded the old lady with questions and comments she couldn't understand.

Her ears were buzzing, and at first, she tried to explain, but later, she found they were ignoring her, so she quietly lowered her head and drank water.

Meanwhile, Luann and Myron had already reached the ground floor.

The security at the entrance stopped them and said, "Please show me the invitation letter."

Luann took out the electronic version to show them.

After a glance, the other person gestured for them to enter.

"This place is nice," Luann said.

As she walked in, sipping her coffee, her clear eyes scanned the surroundings.

Myron nodded lightly, showing no emotion.

"It looks like this is the awards venue; the lounge should be upstairs," Luann said as she entered the elevator and saw the words 'Lounge' posted behind the elevator floor.

Luann pressed the button.

As the elevator doors closed and ascended slowly, Luann was stunned when the doors opened.

A circle of people not far from the entrance, all with pleasing smiles on their faces, were talking in a jumble.

The person in the chair was blocked from view, making it hard to see.

Upon hearing the commotion, everyone turned their heads. When they saw Luann and Myron, this pair of outstanding individuals, they couldn't help but stare in astonishment.

Luann awkwardly raised her hand, saying, "Hello?"

The people turned their heads back, ignoring them.

Luann touched her nose, feeling even more awkward.

She looked up, looking at Myron with a helpless expression, asking, "Did we come at the wrong time?"

Myron nodded and said, "Should we go back?"

Luann was taken aback, saying, "No, we've been on the plane for hours; we can't just leave empty-handed; we have to at least get this year's trophy; I heard it's made of diamonds and very valuable."

Myron asked with a smile, "Do you like diamonds?"

Luann snorted, "Girls can't resist shiny things."
