Chapter 327 Negotiation

Emma put her phone down and shifted her attention back to the computer screen.
Alvin pushed the door open and entered, saying,"What are you doing?"

"Watching a show," Emma replied.

"What's so interesting about those people on the screen? Come on, let's play a game."

Alvin approached, ready to grab Emma, but then he noticed her phone screen, which was still on.
"Hey? What's this?"

Alvin picked it up and clicked his tongue twice, saying,"Is he trying to woo you?"

Without thinking, Emma replied, "No way, don't talk nonsense. We're just friends, nothing like what you're implying."

Alvin stated firmly, "He mentioned dreaming about you. Friends don't speak so ambiguously, do they?"
"Don't I often tell you I dream about you? What's ambiguous about that?"Alvin belatedly looked up at her.

Seeing Emma's serious face, with no hint of wanting to argue, he couldn't help but retort,"You must be that woman with no emotional intelligence."

Emma was puzzled."Why are you insulting me!"

Alvin looked confused and said,"Did I insult you?""I was just stating a fact."

Emma gritted her teeth, "Don't think I don't know that your lousy company's new investment project is losing money again. Do you want me to expose it?"

Alvin immediately covered her mouth and said, "I'm wrong. Please spare me. I won't meddle in your affairs anymore, okay?"

Emma snorted softly and pulled his hand away, saying,"That's more like it."

Alvin's gaze shifted as he pondered for a moment and asked, "Just one more question, how many relationships have you been in?"
"Relationships?" Emma's tone was slightly surprised, "Not a single one."

Alvin gasped, "What? You must be kidding me!"

"Why would I lie to you?"

"Why haven't you been in a relationship?"

"Why should I be in a relationship?"

"Then you..."

Emma quickly interrupted, "Stop, you said one question, and you've already asked two. Are you going to keep asking? Go away, don't interrupt my show."

Alvin pouted, "What's so interesting about that? It's not like you can see them in person."

"If I wanted to see them in person, wouldn't that be easy? With Luann's fame, if she send invitations, plenty of celebrities would come running!"

Alvin backed out of the room and said, "Fine, you win. I'll go play my game and not waste words with you."

Emma turned her gaze back to the computer and couldn't help but reach out to touch the handsome face of the young star, saying,"Ernes, so handsome!"

This was the recently popular actor Ernest Bell. He had been in the industry for two years.

Emma had been following him early on, becoming a loyal fan when he had only a hundred followers.

"According to the schedule, he's coming to the Upper West Side for an event soon," Emma muttered.

Emma had already prepared various supportive signs, planning to see him in person.

"Darn it! I gotta report to Myron first. Who knows what cruel tricks he'll pull to torture me! It's all my fault for being such a dimwit and letting it slip. Who's got it worse than me, seriously!" Emma grumbled.
But the next day, Emma obediently went to report.

"Myron, good morning!"

"Luann, good morning to you too!"

Emma was clad in a lively and vibrant outfit, looking all girly.
Myron leisurely sipped his coffee, his cold eyes glancing at her. He said,"It's already one in the afternoon, still morning?"

Emma scratched her head awkwardly and said, "I swear, when the alarm went off at six, I just wanted to sleep for one more minute! Who knew I'd wake up at eleven-thirty."

"But hey, it's our first day, we need time to get used to each other, right? Can't rush things..." Emma reasoned.
A thick stack of documents was thrown over suddenly.

"Quit the chitchat. Read and memorize all of this in two hours. I'll test you later," Myron demanded.
Emma was dumbfounded and said,"Two hours? I might manage a page! Who can memorize all this in such a short time!"

Myron said expressionlessly, "Luann can."

Emma's mouth twitched, "If I could be like Luann, would I be in this situation now?"

"Three hours," Myron reluctantly relaxed the rule a bit.

Emma clasped her hands together and said, "Please, I really can't do it."

Myron's sharp gaze swept over. His eyes were as cold as winter ice.

His frosty gaze wrapped around Emma like vines, rendering her motionless.
"Emma, you came so late, and you still dare to negotiate with me?" Seeing this, Emma immediately grabbed the documents and slipped into the study room Mario had prepared. She slammed the door shut.

Luann propped her chin on her hand. "Myron, you're so strict. Emma might be scared of you."

"She, scared of me?" Myron's thin lips curved slightly. He knew Emma very well.

His slender fingers landed on the laptop, and with a light touch, a screen lit up.It showed Emma's every move.

"She's still playing with her phone now?" Luann was slightly surprised.

"She knows she can't memorize it all, so she's given up without even trying," Myron pulled Luann to her feet and said, "Want to see how good her acting skills are?"

Myron pulled Luann up and said, "Do you want to see how her acting is?"

Luann smiled lightly, "Sure."

The door was suddenly pushed open.

As the two entered, they saw Emma holding a book, eyes slightly closed, muttering to herself.

Seeing them, she looked surprised and said,"Three hours passed so quickly? Brother-in-law, give me a bit more time!"

Myron said expressionlessly, "You seem to be studying quite seriously."

Emma humbly replied, "Of course, I'm a bit slow, and my memory isn't the best. So I might need you to be patient with me!" Her face beamed with a smile, her tone obedient.
If Luann hadn't just seen what she did, she might have been fooled by Emma.

"Alright, study well."Myron said.

"Absolutely!" Emma blinked, "But you should leave first, otherwise you'll really distract me! If you're worried, you can have Luann stay here to supervise me!"

"Alright."Myron said meaningfully and actually left.

Once he was gone, Emma quickly grabbed Luann's arm.

"Luann, help me. How can I memorize all this in three hours? He's definitely picking on me."

Luann followed her lead, "So what do you think we should do?"

Emma's eyes shifted and said,"I think you should stand up for me and teach him a lesson."

Luann nodded thoughtfully. "That makes sense, but if I openly defend you and Myron gets angry, won't that be worse for you?"

Emma thought for a moment and agreed, saying, "Then how about you just pick on him! For instance, make him cook and then complain that his cooking is terrible. Or if he speaks a bit loudly, say he's yelling at you! Then you can punish him by not letting him sleep in the room and making him lie on the floor for a night, which will help me vent!"

Luann praised her, "That's a great idea."

Emma chuckled, "Of course, but don't rat me out, and don't tell Myron it was my idea!"
"Don't worry, I won't say a word," Luann said with a smile, "because he already heard everything."

Luann pointed to the ceiling that a red light flashed.

"Didn't you see that big camera, Emma?"

Emma fell silent.
