Chapter 53 Standing Up for Her
The muscular man reached out and directly wrapped his arm around Luann's shoulder, pulling her forcefully towards him.
Luann's stunning face remained icy cold, her small face filled with a murderous intent.
She swiftly lifted her leg and attacked the man's most vulnerable area at a speed that caught everyone off guard.
The next second, the muscular man's agonized scream echoed on this road.
He fell to the ground, bending his body, cold sweat instantly covering him, and the color drained from his face.
Everyone was stunned. No one had expected Luann, who appeared delicate and weak, to have such explosive power.
Alvin reacted the quickest and reached out his hand, pulling Luann behind him.
Pale and weak, yet furious, the muscular man shouted, "Fight! Beat them! Beat them to death!"
His companions immediately rushed forward.
Seeing the unfavorable situation, Alvin was about to push Luann into the car and fight with them.
But suddenly, a car quickly approached and stopped between them.
The car door opened with a swoosh, and five or six men dressed in black walked out. They swiftly dealt with the few men, effortlessly pressing them to the ground.
Enraged, the muscular man shouted, "Who the hell are you? What business is it of yours?"
The men in black walked to the front passenger seat and opened the door.
A shiny leather shoe firmly landed on the ground.
Myron stepped down from the car, his gaze clear and surrounded by a chilling silence. Looking down at the oblivious dark-skinned man, the scars on his face fully displayed his identity. The dark-skinned man's pupils suddenly contracted.
Alvin, upon seeing his companion arrive, immediately started shouting, "Boss! Teach him a lesson! He just disrespected you!"
Myron stood backlit, his hair catching the faint light from the streetlamp, but there was no warmth in his demeanor. He seemed as cold as ice. He uttered each word with emphasis, "Take her away."
Alvin immediately nodded, pulling Luann into the car and instructing his comrades to retreat as swiftly as possible.
After the car had left, Myron spoke coldly, "Which hand?"
The dark-skinned man's teeth chattered as he stammered, "Wh-what..."
"Which hand was she held by?"
Myron lowered his head slightly.
In this lighting, the dark-skinned man couldn't see his face clearly, but he could sense Myron's murderous gaze as if it were a shadow following him, as if it could pierce a hole through him!
"I... I..."
Myron let out a disdainful snort.
"Since you're so torn between your left hand and your right hand, why not cut them both off?"
Myron's fingers twitched.
Immediately, two men in black stepped forward.
"Ah!"
The streetlamp on the highway flickered on and off and finally went out.
...
Luann sat in the living room, waiting for Myron to return.
As soon as he entered the room, Luann detected an unusual scent.
It seemed to be the smell of blood...
However, she didn't ask anything.
Myron's brutality and ruthlessness were well-known on the Upper West Side.
The person who made such arrogant remarks, especially in front of Myron, was probably not going to have a good outcome.
"It's getting late. Let's go rest," Myron said, and then went straight upstairs, into the bathroom, to cleanse himself of the air he exuded.
When he came out, he noticed Luann sitting at the table, staring at him as if waiting for something.
Myron sat in front of the mirror.
Luann immediately rushed over and conscientiously began blowing dry his hair.
"He has used his status to commit many misdeeds."
"This punishment is considered lenient."
Although Myron didn't explicitly state who he was referring to, Luann knew that he was explaining the situation with the dark-skinned strong man.
"Mr. Jeff... You handled it, didn't you?" Luann asked in a low voice.
The hairdryer made a loud noise.
She thought Myron wouldn't be able to hear her.
But to her surprise, he raised his hand, turned off the hairdryer, and turned his head to gaze deeply into her eyes.
"Yes."
"Are you scared?" Luann raised a delicate eyebrow and smirked.
"Why should I be afraid when you're standing up for me?"
"I should be the one thanking you."
Besides, he was only dealing with people who deserved it.
Myron's eyes flickered with a barely noticeable smirk, implying something. "Is your thanks just empty words?"
"What else could it be?" Luann asked.
Myron pointed to his own face. "You should show your gratitude through action."
Luann's gaze wandered, and she handed him the hairdryer directly.
Strike.
"No, I'm going to take a shower."
When Luann came out, she found Myron with the blanket neatly covering him, his eyes closed as if he had fallen asleep.
She climbed onto the bed, adjusting the desk lamp to its dimmest setting.
Luann turned her body to the side, gazing at his well-defined features.
In the dim light, his high nose bridge was outlined, and his thin lips formed a perfect curve.
Luann slapped her forehead.
Heavens... what was she thinking?
But her body unknowingly moved closer.
Luann gently pressed a kiss on Myron's face, startling like a frightened bird, before extinguishing the light.
She curled up under the blanket, feeling her heart pounding irregularly, her breath becoming slightly rushed.
In the darkness, she couldn't see the faint smile that appeared on Myron's lips.
Luann had a rare night of insomnia.
She didn't know if it was because she had slept too much during the day or because she had kissed Myron voluntarily.
Dragging her tired body, she went to the company.
As soon as she entered, everyone's eyes focused on her.
Unlike the usual sneering and sarcastic remarks, many people rushed over, holding something in their hands.
"Luann, this is the new drink from the milk tea shop. I tried it, and it tastes good. I brought you a cup!"
"Luann, look at mine! I waited in line for two hours to buy this cake!"
"Luann Luann, I saw a bracelet that suits you while shopping. It's not expensive, not comparable to the luxury brands you usually wear, but at least it's my heartfelt wish. Please accept it!"
"Luann..."
Luann felt like she was being interviewed, surrounded by these people with fawning and flattering faces. She spoke expressionlessly.
"Step aside."
Everyone froze, giving her a clear path.
Luann found her seat, sat down, and started browsing the internet on her computer.
Everyone exchanged glances but dared not openly speak ill of Luann.
After all, they were well aware of the Music Temple and Juliet's affair. Just this alone was enough to shock and intimidate them.
Among these people, only Alisha didn't come over to greet Luann.
On her desk lay a piece of torn paper with Luann's name written in red ink.
Alisha crumpled the paper into a ball and irritably threw it into the trash can.
