Chapter 12 Only Qualified for a Janitor
After dinner, Aiden dropped a bombshell.
"Since Reese is now part of our family, it's not cool for her to just hang around at home all day. Everyone in the Flynn family has a job. How about she joins the company as Malcolm's assistant?"
Alyssa, sitting nearby, couldn't help but snicker. "Grandpa, you seem to forget that even being Malcolm's assistant requires a master's degree. Reese is from the sticks and probably hasn't even been to college. If she joins the company, she'll just be fetching coffee and water for Malcolm. It'd be embarrassing to take her out."
Everly jumped in, not wanting to miss a chance to mock Reese. "Grandpa, our family doesn't need her to get by. Why not just let her be a janitor?"
"Yeah, a janitor job would be perfect for her. Didn't she do a lot of housework in the countryside? Maybe she could even become the head janitor."
Aiden slammed the table. "Enough! Even if Reese hasn't had much education, she doesn't need to be a janitor. If word gets out, how could we explain it to the public and the media?"
Everly and Alyssa covered their mouths, laughing. Even if Grandpa was defending her, it was only for the sake of the Flynn family's reputation.
In essence, not letting her be a janitor was just to save face for the family.
Reese's expression didn't change. She looked at Aiden with bright eyes and suddenly said something that left everyone in the room stunned.
"I want to go through a normal interview to join the company."
Everly and Alyssa reacted like they had heard the funniest joke ever.
"Have you never seen a company before? Don't you know the current situation of our company? With your qualifications, if you go through a normal interview, you might only be able to apply for a janitor position."
Alyssa snickered and nudged Everly.
"Maybe she really just wants to apply for a janitor job. Don't overthink it."
Everly pretended to have a sudden realization. "Right, maybe you just want to apply for a janitor job. That's fine, you can go through the formal process. After all, you're from the countryside, probably not good at anything else, but you might be good at cleaning."
"You two, cut it out."
Malcolm, who had been silent, suddenly spoke, his voice as cold as ice, making everyone shiver.
Alyssa had always been quite afraid of him. Even from 10 feet away, she could still feel his strong vibe, which made her a shiver. She instinctively grabbed Everly's arm, her fingertips tightening.
Everly quickly explained, "Alyssa didn't mean it that way. She's just worried that this woman has no education at all, probably can't even read. Moreover, considering her outfit, she does look like the cleaning staff in the company."
Malcolm's attitude was firm, and today he was wearing a black shirt and black pants, making him look both cold and noble. "Even so, she is my wife. Are we abandoning the Flynn family's rules?"
Everly bit her lip, a surge of anger in her heart that she didn't dare to express. She couldn't understand why Malcolm was suddenly being so nice to this woman. If this continued, it would definitely be increasingly unfavorable for them in the future. They had to find an opportunity to deal with her properly.
Alyssa, intimidated by his piercing gaze, didn't dare to speak again. The atmosphere became oppressive and dreary.
Reese, on the other hand, looked at Malcolm not far away with surprise. She hadn't expected him to defend her, and she felt a bit more favorable towards him. A man who didn't protect his wife was not a good man.
