Chapter 597 I'm Jealous
The maids who were cleaning overheard and shot a surprised look.
"Oh my God, what's the deal? Is this man Ms. Flynn's boyfriend?"
"But he's seriously hot."
"Right? Total eye candy."
"But I just heard him say he's here to see Mrs. Flynn. They kinda look alike, maybe they're siblings. If that's the case, their marriage sounds even better."
"That'd be sweet. They really do look like family. Mrs. Flynn's already a knockout, and her brother's not far behind."
Alyssa heard them gossiping and jumped in. "Don't listen to his nonsense."
Sebastian shot back, "How can you be like this? That day in your studio, you made a promise. Are you backing out already? Everyone in your studio can vouch for it."
Alyssa was flustered by Sebastian's words and wished she could disappear.
Sebastian recently got a kick out of seeing Alyssa all shy. It was a hoot, especially since he was used to her sharp tongue and carefree attitude. Seeing her act like a proper young lady was a rare treat.
Alyssa didn't know how to deal with Sebastian, so she turned around. "I'm going back to my room."
"Wait up." Seeing her rush off, Sebastian quickly caught up.
The maids downstairs couldn't help but giggle.
"You know, this guy and Ms. Flynn look pretty good together. Both are total lookers, their future kids would be stunning."
"Yeah, they're like a match made in heaven. If Mr. Aiden Flynn knew, he'd be over the moon."
After following Alyssa into her room, Sebastian looked around. The room had a cool color scheme and minimalist furniture, which threw him off.
He said, "I always thought your room would be more punk or bold. Didn't expect it to be so chill."
Alyssa pulled out a chair for him.
"Think it doesn't match my usual vibe?"
"Honestly, I'd think it is someone else's room if you didn't tell me."
Alyssa remembered that Sebastian came to see Reese and asked him, "Did you come here just to see Reese today?"
"Not really. I got something to discuss with Reese."
Sebastian thought about it and decided to tell Alyssa, hoping she could give him some advice.
He was really unsure about it.
Alyssa was always curious, especially when it involved Reese, so she had to ask. "Spill it."
Sebastian scratched his head, unsure how to start.
Alyssa, losing impatience, urged him, "Come on, out with it. Is it a big deal?"
"My dad told me today that he wants me to invite Reese to dinner."
Alyssa blurted out, "Is your dad nuts?"
Sebastian was taken aback.
Realizing she had spoken too bluntly, Alyssa quickly corrected herself. I mean, why would your dad suddenly want to invite Reese to a meal? They never got along before."
"Don't sweat it, I get it. Even I think my dad's lost it. Why else would he suddenly want to invite Reese to dinner? I can't tell if he's trying to make peace or if there's something else going on."
Unless something major had changed, it was unlikely he'd suddenly want to make amends with Reese.
Alyssa felt the same way. "Feels like there's something fishy going on."
The more Sebastian thought about it, the more worked up he got. "I've already agreed to it. Maybe I should talk to Reese first."
"Don't get your hopes up. You know Reese's temper. She'd love to cut ties with the Hawthorne family for good." Alyssa knew Reese well. Once she made up her mind, it was hard to change, just like Malcolm.
While they were chatting, a maid came in to inform them that Reese and Malcolm were back. "Ms. Alyssa Flynn, Mrs. Reese Flynn, and Mr. Malcolm Flynn are downstairs."
Alyssa stood up. "Alright, we're coming."
When they went downstairs, they saw Reese and Malcolm sitting on the couch, chatting happily.
Seeing Reese, Sebastian lit up and rushed over to give her a hug. "Reese, I'm so glad you're okay. You have no idea how worried I've been."
Reese, not used to sudden hugs, felt a bit stiff. "You... I told you I'm fine."
Malcolm could sense Reese's discomfort. She rarely interacted with people and was always wary of strangers, let alone such intimate gestures.
Sebastian, feeling proud of Reese, was overly clingy. Malcolm felt that Sebastian wanted to be with Reese every moment.
That wouldn't do. Reese's time belonged to him alone.
Malcolm stepped forward and separated them. "Sebastian, let go of Reese. She's almost out of breath."
Sebastian pouted, "You're just jealous of me hug Reese."
Though he said that, he still let go of Reese.
Malcolm admitted straightforwardly, "Yeah, I'm jealous. Seeing you hug my wife bugs me."
Sebastian was stunned by his honesty.
Alyssa, still focused on Sebastian's reason for seeing Reese, felt worried. She didn't know if it would trouble Reese.
After all, that family that had previously rejected her suddenly wanted to make amends. They couldn't figure out if it was genuine or if there were hidden motives.
She believed it was the latter, especially when it involved family, which was the most complicated.
Alyssa nudged Sebastian's hand. He looked at her and she spoke, "Didn't you have something to tell Reese?"
