Chapter 485: Bastard

Aiden heard Vincent's voice and slowly opened his eyes, still looking exhausted.

His voice was weak, but he reached out to Vincent. "Vincent, you're here."

"Grandpa, I'm here. Are you still feeling uncomfortable? I talked to the doctor about your condition. Don't worry, you'll get better. We have a doctor in the family, remember?"

Vincent was referring to Reese.

Aiden sighed. "Reese can't do much either. Never mind, it's good enough to see you all one last time. How's Malcolm been?"

"I haven't seen Malcolm lately, so I'm not sure. But Grandpa, Malcolm's situation seems pretty tough. If things go south, the company might have no successor. What's your plan?"

"It was decided that Malcolm would inherit the Flynn family business. You'd continue your research at the medical school, and Malcolm would fund you. You could focus on running it and helping people. There's nothing wrong with that."

Aiden was reminding Vincent of their old agreement. Besides, Vincent wasn't cut out to lead the Flynn family.

But Vincent got agitated. "Why should I run a medical institute while Malcolm takes over the Flynn Group? I've contributed a lot to the company and the family! You've always been biased against me, but I've given everything for years. Now you're saying the company goes to Malcolm? I won't agree to that."

Vincent's stance was firm. Either they managed the Flynn Group together, or he'd break away. Aiden didn't have long to live, so what was there to fear?

Aiden's expression changed. "What do you want now? You were brought in by your mother from outside, while Malcolm is the legitimate heir. He's the rightful bloodline of the Flynn family. Malcolm hasn't even held you accountable for your mother ruining his family, and he's tolerated you for years. Now you still dream of taking over the Flynn Group!"

"Don't forget why Malcolm's leg never healed. It's closely related to you. We didn't hold it against you because we considered you part of the Flynn family. Otherwise, you'd have been kicked out long ago."

Aiden started coughing violently, struggling to catch his breath. These were reactions caused by the medication, but in reality, Aiden had no physical health issues.

Vincent gritted his teeth like an enraged lion and roared. "I won't agree! Whether my mother ruined their family or not, I'm part of the Flynn family. Flynn blood runs through my veins. Grandpa, this time, no matter what you say, I won't give up this position."

Vincent was laying his cards on the table. Given Aiden's current state, he wasn't afraid. A dying man had nothing to fear.

Aiden had anticipated Vincent's extreme reaction but hadn't expected him to be so stubborn.

"What makes you so fixated on the position of president of the Flynn Group? I told you a long time ago that you're not suitable for this position. You lack the ability. If you become president, the company will be ruined in your hands sooner or later."

"Nonsense!" Vincent shot up from his chair, veins bulging on his forehead. "I'm not fit? How much time have you really spent on me since I was a kid? All your attention has been on my brother. Every time I did the same thing as him, you only saw him. Even when I did better, you never praised me, only blamed me!"

Aiden felt like he was about to explode from anger. "Do you think I'm blaming you? Think about it. When have you ever achieved anything through proper means? You were so young and already resorting to unscrupulous methods to achieve your goals. What if you go down the wrong path when you grow up? I'm doing this for you. Why do you think I wanted you to study medicine?"

Vincent needed to pursue such a profession to understand certain principles. Healing lives would bring him insights, both spiritually and otherwise. But now, it seemed Aiden's efforts were in vain.

Vincent's mind was now fixated on one goal: becoming the president of the Flynn Group, taking contorl of the Flynn family, and earning admiration from everyone. He no longer wanted to be under Malcolm. Why could Malcolm do it, but he couldn't? He believed he was just as capable as Malcolm. But why did Aiden only like Malcolm? Was it just because he wasn't born of the first wife? That was too unfair to him.

At this point, Vincent didn't care anymore. Soon, Aiden wouldn't be in control of this family.

"Grandpa, in your current state, you should focus on taking care of your health and not worry about so much. As for the Flynn Group, it's better left to us."

Aiden sensed a change in Vincent's tone, his face darkened. "What do you mean by that?"

Vincent revealed his true nature, his eyes filled with chilling malice. "What do I mean? I mean I'm going to push your favorite grandson out and become the president of the Flynn Group."

"You... you scoundrel! What are you planning to do?"

Even though Aiden knew Vincent was vying for the position of president, he hadn't expected him to be so blunt about it. Was he not afraid of him anymore?

Vincent's anger had overwhelmed his reason. "Since you don't have long to live anyway, it doesn't matter if I tell you. I have dirt on the company's shareholders and already sent it to their phones. If they don't support me, this information will soon be all over the internet, and their careers will be ruined. What do you think they'll choose?"

"You... you're despicable! You'll stop at nothing for this position!"

Vincent threw his head back, laughing maniacally. "So what? No matter what I do, you never give me a chance. If you won't give it to me, I'll take it myself."

Vincent's words enraged Aiden, his chest heaving as his face grew paler. At that moment, a nurse doing rounds knocked on the door.

Vincent had said all he needed to say and looked down at Aiden. "If you survive, Grandpa, the future won't be what you imagined. So, you might as well go to heaven and enjoy your afterlife. You've worked hard enough."

"Bastard!" Aiden struggled to sit up and tried to hit Vincent, but Vincent dodged.

Vincent sneered, "Grandpa, save your strength for your beloved grandson. Maybe you two will get to see each other one last time."

Aiden, furious, grabbed a cup from the side and threw it at Vincent. "Get out!"

This time, Vincent couldn't dodge. The cup hit his forehead, causing it to bleed, but he didn't care. Instead, a bloodthirsty smile appeared on his lips, sending chills down one's spine.

"Grandpa, the more you look down on me, the more I'll show you what I'm capable of. The Flynn family isn't just about Malcolm."

With that, Vincent slammed the door and left, blood on his forehead startling the nurse at the door.

"Sir, your injury..."

Before the nurse could finish her sentence, Vincent had already disappeared.

She walked over to Aiden. "Mr. Aiden, are you alright? I'll get Reese over here."

Aiden slowly composed himself. "Thank you."
