Chapter 433 Your Husband Is Indeed Smart
"Let's go." Reese didn't want to waste any more time with Everly here. It wasn't necessary.
As they were about to get in the car, Everly felt insulted and extremely uncomfortable. She stepped forward to block them.
"Do you two have any manners at all? I haven't even finished talking, and you're already leaving..." Everly shouted.
Calvin lazily glanced at Everly. "Do I really need to take a good look at you? Besides, there's nothing worth looking at you. Also, please be a bit more polite to Reese in the future. After all, she is legally married into the Flynn family. Opposing her does you no good."
Everly gritted her teeth, shaking with anger, losing all semblance of the Flynn family’s lady.
"I don't need you to remind me of that!" Everly retorted.
"I'm afraid no one will remind you, Ms. Flynn. You don't even understand basic respect." After finishing, Calvin opened the car door for Reese. She got in, and they drove off, leaving Everly behind. Watching the car's departing silhouette, Everly grew even darker.
'What other identity does Reese have that I don't know about? Why are all these men surrounding her? The man just now is clearly not ordinary,' Everly pondered.
Given Malcolm's character, if he really liked someone, he would mind another man around Reese. The fact that they still met proved Reese and that man didn't have an improper relationship.
The more Everly thought about it, the angrier she got. She wondered if the Hawthorne family had started taking action. Being a prestigious family, they should act faster.
She increasingly hoped Reese would fall from power soon and was eager to see her in a miserable state.
Sitting in the passenger seat, Calvin asked Reese as they headed to the secret base.
"Reese, why hasn't Everly let go after all this time? Did you see the way she looked at you? She seemed to eat you alive," Calvin said.
Reese scoffed dismissively, clearly not taking Everly's words to heart.
"She likes Malcolm for quite a while. When seeing the man she likes with another woman every day, how could she be normal?" Reese said.
Calvin nodded thoughtfully. "That makes sense. But I also don't get it. Shouldn't she be redirecting her focus instead of targeting you? Knowing the man can't love her, why persist? That's what I don't understand."
"Just too obsessed, I guess," Reese added.
Nothing else was as fearsome as obsession.
Whether Everly's prolonged affection for Malcolm, was obsession or love remained mysterious. Only she herself truly understood.
Passing by a coffee shop, Reese suddenly wanted a drink. She turned to Calvin. "Wait here for a moment. I'm going to get a drink."
Calvin quickly said, "Reese, I want one too."
"Got it." Wherever there's food, there's Calvin, a seasoned foodie.
Reese went in and bought her drink. As she walked out, someone bumped into her. It happened so fast she couldn't react before a note was slipped into her hand. She was about to speak, but the person had already run off.
Later, Reese opened the note and saw the word "HELP" written on it.
Recognizing Everhart's handwriting instantly, Reese realized Nolan intended to eliminate him.
Back in the car, Calvin noticed Reese staring at the note with a concerned expression and asked curiously, "Reese, what are you looking at?"
"Nolan is probably planning to eliminate Everhart," Reese replied.
Calvin was shocked. "Is he asking you for help?"
"Yes, it's his handwriting, no mistake."
"So what do we do now?" Calvin asked.
"Check the situation."
Calvin was shocked. "Reese, do you really want to help Everhart? But he..."
"Let’s set the past aside for now and deal with this first," Reese added.
Knowing Reese's temperament, Calvin could only comply.
"Alright, I'll have Louis and the others check it out," Calvin said.
Not long after, Louis called. "Calvin, tell Reese we found out Everhart has already escaped from Nolan. He probably can't go back. It's not because of this incident, but because Mr. Flynn has cleared his name."
Reese frowned. "So you mean Nolan knows the truth but still doesn't want to let him go?"
That clearly meant Nolan didn't want to keep Everhart alive.
"Yes, so you need to consider whether to save Everhart. Once you do, we might become enemies with Nolan. Is it worth it for Everhart?" Louis continued.
This was the key point. Louis didn't want Reese to get into trouble for someone insignificant. He had seen what Everhart did to her.
Reese, softened by Mr. Flynn's influence, believed people were still trustworthy and sincere.
"I understand. Though he betrayed me, he also helped me. Without Everhart, I might not be who I am today. Consider this repaying a favor. His future depends on his fate," Reese explained.
Calvin agreed. "Alright."
They turned towards the location Louis found. Nolan's men were likely searching for Everhart too, so they needed to find him first to save his life.
On the way, Reese tried to contact Everhart but couldn't reach him. She guessed his phone was probably tracked by Nolan. Turning it on would reveal his location.
As they neared the destination, Reese noticed how desolate it was, with no one around. It was just a barren area.
She cautiously scanned the surroundings, remarking, "This really suits his cautious nature. He's always been careful. For someone like him to fall into Malcolm's trap shows Malcolm's effort and time."
Calvin laughed. "That just proves your husband is indeed smart."
