Chapter 437 Protecting You Completely

Reese shrugged, looking indifferent. "No other reason, just think you have it tough too. I don't want to waste a talent for nothing."

She didn't say she admired Hugo's loyalty, also fearing it might make him overly confident in the future.

Hugo felt a pang of coldness seeing his former bros pointing guns at him.

Since it had come to this, he might as well choose to side with Reese. After all, he was going to die anyway, so he might as well take a shot for himself. "Alright, I agree."

Reese wasn't afraid he would go back on his word. After all, such a sudden situation hadn't been rehearsed. Only in the most dangerous moments could you see the true nature of people. She believed Hugo had seen through it all.

Reese pointed her gun at those people. But they only had two guns on their side, while the other side had more than a dozen. It was still very difficult.

The people on the other side laughed out loud. "Do you think having Hugo with you will allow you to escape?"

Reese sneered coldly, her sharp eyes showing no hint of fear. "If you think you can walk out of here alive today, you can try."

Her meaning was very clear. If they could survive her gun today, it would be a miracle.

At that moment, the sound of engines roared around them, causing Nolan's subordinates to panic.

"What's going on?" Calvin asked.

"Don't panic! Stay calm," Reese replied.

"Why are there so many people? They can't be from Nolan, right?" Calvin added.

The leading car stopped, the door opened, and a tall man stepped out from the driver's seat. Malcolm, with a cigarette in his mouth and hands in his pockets, looked calm and composed, showing no signs of panic in such a tense situation.

Reese broke into a smile. She knew she could count on him to come.

Malcolm raised his hand slowly, and his men quickly surrounded Nolan's, changing the situation.

Justin stepped forward. "Mr. Flynn and Mrs. Flynn, you should leave first. We'll handle it."

Calvin was stunned by the grand scene.

Mr. Flynn was too impressive, and his calm demeanor was unmatched.

Reese had indeed chosen the right man, one who remained steady in the face of major events, unlike Everhart, who looked panicked and helpless. He suddenly doubted Reese's judgment of people.

The more he looked, the more pleasing the current situation seemed.

Reese holstered her gun and walked towards Malcolm. As soon as Malcolm looked at her, his cold expression softened instantly.

He reached out and tucked her loose hair behind her ear, his voice low and gentle. "Sorry for scaring you, honey."

Reese's stern and cold demeanor disappeared the moment she got close to Malcolm. Now, she was leaning against him like a bird.

"It's okay," Reese replied.

At worst, they would just fight. She had seen such scenes before.

As Malcolm was about to leave, he turned and instructed Justin with a bloodthirsty and intimidating look. "Don't let any of them go. How dare they mess with my wife!"

Justin nodded. "Yes, Mr. Flynn."

To Mr. Flynn, Mrs. Flynn was his all. No one could harm her. These people were unlucky to have been chosen by Nolan today.

Reese turned to Calvin and Everhart. "Calvin, you settle him first, then we'll talk. Hugo, you follow Ryan and let him guide you."

Calvin sighed in relief, glad he didn't have to take Hugo. He hated training newcomers, especially someone like Hugo who was stubborn and impulsive, making things confusing.

However, the good thing about such people was that they were easier to control, which was probably why Reese saw his potential. More importantly, it was a heavy blow to Nolan. If Nolan found out Hugo had betrayed him and joined Reese, he would likely be furious.

Calvin admired Reese's knack for hitting where it hurt most.

"Got it, Reese. We'll go now." Calvin then waved to Justin as if they were old friends. "Bro, handle these guys well. They were too arrogant just now."

Justin responded heartily, "Don't worry."

These two had met before, and Justin knew a bit about Calvin. Last time, Calvin had slipped through. If Justin had been more vigilant, Calvin wouldn't have escaped his watch.

But now that Calvin was known to be Reese's man, he was considered family. There was no need for further precautions.

They dispersed peacefully. Reese sat in the passenger seat while Malcolm drove at a moderate speed because the signal in that area wasn't great, so he couldn't drive too fast.

Malcolm glanced at Reese, who looked calm and unruffled as if the earlier incident was just an ordinary event. Only he knew how dangerous the situation was, with so many people on the other side, each armed. Even though Reese had brought Hugo into her team, it was clear that his role wasn't very significant.

Thinking about the scene just now, Malcolm felt his heart tighten. He didn't voice his concerns, fearing it might affect her emotions.

But Malcolm was still curious about one thing. "What were you thinking at that moment? Were you really planning to go down with them?"

Because no matter how capable Reese was, she couldn't have resolved it alone in such a situation.

"I never thought about going down with them. If they wanted to shoot, I could only fight with all my might. You know as well as I do that in a situation like that, there was no other way. I had no choice," Reese explained.

Malcolm still felt guilty and apologized to Reese. "Honey, I'm sorry for the trouble today. I should have come sooner."

Reese, however, didn't blame Malcolm at all. She didn't want to place too much hope on anyone. Without expectations, one wouldn't be disappointed. If Malcolm hadn't come, she could still remain calm. But if he did come, she would feel pleasantly surprised.

"It doesn't matter. I can handle such things on my own," Reese added.

"But I don't want you to handle it alone. I want to protect you and give you a peaceful life. Understand?" Malcolm  wanted Reese to be a woman who could rely on him and do what she wanted, instead of being like a warrior who had to gamble all she had and still didn't know if she would survive.
