Chapter 422 Clora

The key was what should they do now? Reese really went overboard. She could have just let it go, but she had to make Alexander couldn't move for three days. That was too harsh. It was true that a woman scorned was the most vicious.

It seemed that they should avoid offending women in the future.

Clara called the servants, "Help Alexander inside."

"Yes."

It took two people quite a bit of effort to get Alexander back to his room.

Clara saw Alexander unable to move, his eyes darted around as if he wanted to speak but couldn't, which   broke her heart.

She held Alexander's hand tightly. "Don't worry, son. Mom won't let that Reese off the hook. It's too much. After all, you're her brother. How could she do this to you?"

Alexander's face still looked bad, and he couldn't even speak.

Clara was almost driven mad with anger, tears streaming down her face.

"Don't worry, your dad won't let Reese off the hook." Sebastian said, standing nearby, trying to comfort Clara who was crying badly.

"Mom, can you not act like someone died? He is just resting in bed today. For the next few days, just think of it as him meditating."

It wasn't that big of a deal, but she had to make it seem like a huge issue.

Clara turned around to hit Sebastian. "You ungrateful brat, he's your brother. How can you talk like that?"

Sebastian, however, saw the situation clearly.

"Mom, Reese is not someone to mess with. Our only option now is to call a truce with her. We can't have a direct confrontation; it won't benefit any of us."

Clara sneered and said, "Do you think it's easy? Now that she's in this line of work, do you think she will just leave? There are only so many resources. If she joins, we lose our benefits."

A field can only hold one strong player; that's an unchanging rule in the business world.

Seeing their stubbornness, Sebastian had no other option.

He sighed and said,"Alright, if that's the case, you figure it out yourselves."

After saying that, he opened the door and left.

After Reese and Malcolm got into the car, Reese's face remained cold, showing no emotion, but her usually bright eyes seemed dim.

Malcolm knew well that Alexander's actions today had hurt her. Even if he didn't acknowledge her as his sister, he shouldn't have drugged his blood relative. Kenneth had his reasons, as he wasn't her biological brother.

But she and Alexander shared the same father. To force her out of the new media industry, he resorted to such despicable means.

Reese wasn't unaware; it was easy for her to detect if he had drugged her food. She just overestimated his humanity.

Malcolm reached out and held Reese's hand. "I know you're feeling bad right now. Want to go for a drink?"

He was eighty percent sure that Reese was starting to doubt herself again, wondering if it was a mistake to trust others. If it were the past, she would have been very wary of Alexander and wouldn't have given him the chance to drug her.

Reese just felt very tired. She didn't want to move, and the amount of drug Alexander used was significant, leaving her body weak.

She propped her elbow on the car window, looking at the bustling streets outside, her voice tired. "No, I want to go back and rest."

Then think about how to settle the score with Alexander. If the Hawthorne family thought she would let it go, they were gravely mistaken.

Her belief had always been that for those who repeatedly hurt her, she had to fight back until they no longer dared to harm her.

Malcolm didn't force her, but he still had to say what needed to be said.

"No matter what happens, I will always stand by your side. You can count on that."

Even if she was wrong, he would follow her.

Malcolm's words at that moment were like a shot of confidence for Reese, easing her gloomy mood. She turned around, her expression softer than before.

"Thank you, honey. Thank you for changing me and my life."

Life was about constant reflection. This time, she was too careless. While maintaining her kindness, she couldn't let her guard down.

This time with Alexander, she was negligent. It wouldn't happen again.

Malcolm leaned in and kissed the corner of her lips.

"Of course, you're my wife. A husband loving his wife is only natural. If you have any plans, let me know. I can help you achieve them."

He was willing to give everything for her.

"Okay, I'll think about it."

After returning home, Reese sat in her room, lost in thought. Malcolm didn't disturb her. Seeing her exhausted, he had a servant make a cup of coffee for her.

Clora brought the coffee, and Malcolm reminded her.

"Don't make any noise. Just put it on her desk and come out."

Seeing Malcolm being so careful, Clora couldn't help but envy Reese. Malcolm had given all his remaining tenderness to Reese.

She nodded with a smile. "Okay, don't worry, Mr. Flynn."

Clora quietly opened the door and went in, seeing Reese staring out the window, lost in thought.

It seemed something was bothering her.

It wasn't until Clora placed the coffee on the desk that Reese shook off her reverie and returned to her senses. She called out, "Clora, sorry, I was lost in thought."

In the Flynn family, Reese actually liked Clora because, unlike the other servants who looked down on her from the moment she entered the house and spoke ill of her behind her back, Clora treated her with respect.

"It's okay. Mr. Flynn asked me to make you some coffee. You've been restless these past few days. If there's anything bothering you, Mrs. Flynn, you can talk to me. I may not be able to help, but I can at least listen."

Clora rarely saw Reese in this state. Usually, Reese was calm and composed, seldom like this.

Reese indeed felt blocked up inside. Since it wasn't a secret, she didn't mind sharing it.

"Clora, do you think it's possible for someone not to want their own child? Despite the blood relation, they treat each other like enemies, resorting to any means for their own gain."
